    • @@HannahDisponett I don't agree Hannah, Gabbie, like most shooters will hit a slump, and they come out of it eventually, and she hit 2 3's early, but after missing a few shots, she did seem to lose her confidence, so it was easier to feed the ball to Caitlin or Kate. She still tried a few more through the game, but she went cold. I know the feeling of having a bad game, but not in Basketball. Sometimes it's hard to build that confidence back up. I hope she can do it soon.

      @survivrs@survivrs5 ай бұрын
    • @@survivrs, , I agree, and I believe I've even said she's hit a slump and hoping gets better. Still, Gabbie was still pretty open for a two but selflessly gave up that chance for CC to break the record...that may have been her plan all along? Otherwise, why not pass it to Kate who was RIGHT UNDER THE BASKET and could have made the easy lay up?

      @HannahDisponett@HannahDisponett5 ай бұрын
    • @@HannahDisponett To be honest, I don't think she was doing it for Caitlin to break the record, it was just to put it in the hands of someone who was shooting on FIRE that night. As it turns out, Caitlin and Kate were the 2 that were on fire although Mollie and Hannah both contributed. I was wrong with my original comment, I thought Gabbie had hit 2 3's at the beginning, but she never scored a point. I'm not going to try and get in her head at this point, I'm not qualified, but I hope now that they've got that monkey off their back for awhile anyway, I'm hoping that Gabbie will be on point for the next game, if for no other reason than to get her confidence back if that is why she wasn't hitting. You have good comments all the time, and without Kate's shooting, we could have easily lost that game. For such a young team, Iowa State could be contenders for the big dance unless this was just the typical "Iowa/Iowa State" game that you never want to bet on either team because it rarely turns out like you think it will. Do you have any thoughts on whether or not Hannah might have reinjured her ankle that night after the fall with the ISU player who lost her shoe and Hannah's foot came down on the shoe. I thought she was back in the game after that, so I'm hoping she is still good to go on the next game.

Not only did she break 3,000 points, she has at least 750 assists and at least 750 rebounds to add to her resume. That assist count only proves that she is not out there just for herself. Also when reporters grab her, she will give her teammates all the glory or MORE of the glory they may or may not deserve before she ever says a thing about her own performance. They are YOUNG, and while you have to take into consideration the in-state rivalry games should never be bet on because records and ranking mean absolutely NOTHING. Something that was shown when ISU grabbed the lead a couple of times and only lost by 9. Iowa wasn't putting in scrubs either, that was a well fought game which is more than I can say for the men's game last night where ISU beat Iowa by 25. It's going to be interesting to see if ISU can keep up this pace through their schedule.

    • They played well above their heads trying to win that 1 game they really lose sleep over. And Clark's team mates weren't shooting worth a crap. They missed everything in the 3rd quarter, so Clark had to do it herself. 18 of Iowa's 1st 20 points after the half were Clark. With decent shooting, or even close, it would have been at least a 20 point win.

But now that category must be established. And there’s only one person in it. And her name is Caitlin Clark 🏀 🏆… I mean SERIOUSLY! WHAT THE WHAT! What am I watching here. @wonderlandian8465@wonderlandian84655 ай бұрын
    • @wonderlandian Are you talking about the screen or the fact that she was out beyond the arc a ways? If you're talking about how far out you would defend her, you pretty much need someone on her once she crosses the time line because there are very few places on the home side of that line that she can't or won't hit, but 29' is definitely getting out there. Teams try to defend her, but when they do, it only frees up at least 2 more Hawkeyes, and they can all shoot the 3 or take it to the basket in just about any way imaginable. Caitlin isn't afraid to give the ball to a teammate either. She has over 750 assists, so she's not selfish.

      @bertjones3010@bertjones30105 ай бұрын
    • @2mj When you consider how far out she was when she missed those shots, the fact that she was still draining as many as she did negates the percentage. ISU was playing an incredible game, especially when you consider how young they are and they had the home court advantage as well, however, home court advantage doesn't mean jack during the biggest in state rivalry that gets played every year. • @@jkaner0491 38.7% in a game is inefficient for her, but it's pretty far from "about as inefficient as it gets". For comparison last season noteworthy guard Georgia Amoore shot 37.9% for the entire season which included games with 14.3% and 16.7%. Many good players have had games like those for their contribution to about as inefficient as it gets.

    • 37.5% is not bad considering her range helps open up other players for good looks. Also she is always the focus of the defense as she was here.
