In 2009, the Brits finally had enough of being lorded over by aristocracy. The government gave the hereditary peerage the chop, evicting them from those hallowed halls - The House of Lords. Add to that the high cost of living in a stately home, and your lord and ladyship days were numbered. But as history has shown us, you can't keep a true, blue blood down. The landed gentry were ready for one last battle to remain relevant.
This story contains scenes of upper class privilege and moments of sublime eccentricity.

You can't punish people for being born into any situation. You can however raise them to do good things.. being an arrogant, unintelligent buffoon isn't something one should strive for.
The father and son are both rude and self centred
Meanwhile, there's authoritarians locking up atheists for publicly mentioning that the saudi 9/11 hijackers never went to a happyland in the sky of mythology. Atheism treats like a swear word not to be heard in public in saudiland, and did you not notice yet, you don't hear any journalists or politicians or teachers in public or catholic conversion schools mentioning it. Other, they $ay. Hushmoney makes its own sound, crickets.
Well said. This guy's ancestors clearly did what they had to in order to be financially secure, but I wonder how many generations ago that work ethic disappeared. Lots of old money that has compounded their wealth, these guys are just spending it and don't know how to actually make any money.

Excellent,absolutely perfectly expressed. ✌️

Telling your mother to shutup while the father says nothing, says it all about this family.
Looks more like the Addams Family if you ask me,

The father's language is no better and he looks seriously ill with his colour of skin. Looks like the liver isn't working properly. I would hope that the twins would have agreed between them to hang on to the property TOGETHER and are just playing with the journalist.

I love how the son is so pompous about inheriting a mansion that his parents can't afford. 😂
As someone who does a lot of contracting work, that place is in serious need of repair and basic maintenance. Just the cost to heat, maintain the lawn, etc is going to be a huge fortune. It's likely unfixed small problems will lead to much bigger ones.
Yeah, that smug little tyke is in for a hell of a wake-up call when he comes of an age to inherit!
What are y’all on about, he’s selling that shit asap.
I am not an expert but the inheritance tax in the UK is very high so I guess he has to sell it to pay the tax off. But yes he can be very proud of being "old money" lol. The place was in an episode of "The Country House Rescue" and the whole family is just out of mind

And I truly think they actually could find some ppl to serve the "nobility" for very cheap 😂
And if their idiot son had "staff", he would be even worse.
I think she is embarrassed by his arrogance, and probably envisioned a happy and more graceful lifestyle when marrying aristocracy. Instead, he is self-absorbed, and she is likely serving him 24/7, while the world thinks she has maids and staff serving her. Having a boorish and uncaring son that follows her husband's behavior would be only more infuriating to her, if she has a bit of self-awareness and self-respect.

The USA has it's own aristocracy. It's just not as old as ours.
@@johnmunro4952 not exactly the same thing. the US has an elite class, which is much more fluid, families/people come and go all the time.
As this was shot in 2009, i was interested to see whats happened to Arthur Fulford. Turns out he has become a reality TV personality. He appeared on Britons Big Brother but walked out after one day on the show because he felt "bullied"😂
Someone probably tore his necklace off
Maybe someone pulled his pants down. Abominable way of dressing!
Agreed I need a update 😊
Well he would certainly have understood bullying having attended a British public school.
Karma’s a bitch
That’s mean I think you all are just a lovely cup of tea don’t let what foul hearted people say abrupt your goodness and kindness idk if your racism but your etiquette is quite refreshing
Fascinating and they are not apologetic what so ever for thier lives! A lesson we can all take away and live our lives with respect for our ancestors and promising an interesting life. Every person has value.
I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to France for assisting my American forefathers during our Revolution. I've never appreciated the good people of France more than after watching this video. Vive la France.
merci beaucoup, on apprécie ..... et merci à La Fayette !
Yeah, let forget about the 100 million plus Native Nations that were wiped out 🤡 Not to mention, the USA government is build off the Iroquois Confederacy Government created by Native Nations
Yeah, and these so called aristocrats hate the French - but they only have what they have because their ancestors fought the French.
I agree!
😂 Yeah well, just imagine if someone, especially white someone, said that they hated the Indians or the Chinese or the Nigerians or the Mexicans!… The mainstream media outlets would raise so much hell, that the world would come to an end!
My late father bless him always said that the aristocracy in Britain had no shame about the past. AGREED.
And why should they? You absolutely cannot generalize like that.
@@Celisar1 What do you mean, "why should they?" The Brits should have LOTS of shame about the past, the way they trespassed into India and Africa and stole their lands and their culture, the slave trade, and the centuries of arrogance and superiority, shown by the people in this video, even the teenage boy.. Disgusting people.
I have no shame about the past, & I think people who do are ridiculous. In fact I'm proud of my country's great achievements.
@@user-vu7rv1xf1l So you are PROUD of how Britain trespassed into India and Africa, stole people's lands and started coffee plantations on land they stole from the natives? You are proud of the slave trade that Britain was part of? I know my country was part of the slave trade also, but I am not proud of it, but overall I think America is more important in the world for good things than Britain is.
A lot of humanity has trained themselves to only feel shame when it's useful. So, when we're surprised that not everyone feels shame equally, we're surprised because we never learned that mindset.
Everyone in the comments is disgusted but I’m over here cracking up 😂😂😂 they’re hilariously out of touch but I also get a bit of “tongue in cheek” humor here too. They’re like a spoof of a “royal” family lol
This is embarrassing on behalf of the British. Worldwide, royals & aristocracy at least attempt grace. This lot invites chagrin & they’re absolutely unaware the time of day. And that son Arthur looks to be the end of their reign.
Kid told he mom to shutup. OMG.
You should be embarrassed. Of all of them. No matter their attempts at “grace”.
thankfully
No he's perfect for his role, absolutely suited to that obscene existence..
@@ccormx Certainly it's a psychopathical facade! No worries and/or regrets about any aspect of Humanity! 👍
Knocking his grown sister to the ground. Money does not buy or breed a good brother.
The first family was full of goofballs and I loved it!
i LOVE it that the aristocracy is "alive and well in Britain"!!! Seeing the manors, and the folks who are in the long lines of landed wealth and tradition is AH-mazing, and I wish them the best!
The more I see these stories, the more I understand why my father and mother emigrated to Australia with us five children, back in the sixties, my dad couldn't stand the pompous aristocrats, and back then he said they were much worse.
OZ isnt perfect, but its better than that
So your family took advantage of British colonialism to better itself at the expense of Australia's indigenous people and likely went on assisted passage, i.e., fare paid by the government of the day attract British families to emigrate to Australia to ensure it's Britishness.
@@helencheung2537 your argument is poorly constructed and not even relevant
@@helencheung2537 yes along with many German, Greeks, Italians, Maltese, and many other nationalities, most of us only learned of the British invasion of Australia when we arrived here .I was 12 , and I'm disgusted by what my birth country did to the first nation people, what do you think I should do about it? Australia is far from being British today , so you're Britishness argument is lost . But before you throw any more stones, what is your nationality?
You must be a British aristocrat, interesting perspective
In a weird way I feel sorry for them like they're trying so hard to cling onto the past that it's defining their whole lives
🎯
Don't. It's a wasted emotion on these people.
though pretending to be polite they are so greedy "The heart is bold that looks on gold"

How gross, especially that horrible young man of the Fulford family 😩

@@CC-hx5fz BRILLIANT comment!
That horrid boy couldn't even give a reason why old money is apparently better than new. I'm assuming he learnt that crap from his snorty dad.
That sister not inheriting the house and title is honestly a blessing for her. It's going to be a massive headache for the brother when he inherites all of that. Fully renovating the house would probably cost more than what the house is worth and the taxes he's going to get slammed with instantly upon inheriting is going to bankrupt him likely. Even the upkeep of keeping it in a somewhat livable state is likely draining most of the owners resources every year.
Yet the reality is likely that she would make it thrive, and he will simply fail. He made that pretty clear the first time he opened his mouth.
Hadn't thought about that and the daughter will likely marry in to money, she'll be fine.
Yes! If it were mine, I would fix it up and rent it out for conferences and retreats to pay for upkeep and property taxes. But the son doesn’t seem like he would be resourceful or hardworking enough to do anything like that.
They use trusts to avoid paying inheritance taxes.
@@tnijoo5109good thought! But I don’t think he’s interested..
That colonial had some exceedingly impertinent questioning
The guys jokes are hilariously. Haha love this
The inheritance tax is 40%. So it will not be "The easiest 30 million he ever made". It will cost him 12 million pounds which they obviously do not have. His sister is the winner because she can marry an aristocrat, and he will pay his karma for pushing her off her bike. Jolly good show then!
They have ways around that like, putting the estate in trust with him as the trustee...once that is done using one of Britains off shore tax havens everything that happens from that point on 100% secretive. Look into "Britain's second Empire" and your mind will be blown!
Yeah, I saw her. A multimillionaire can do better!
That boy needs a slap from his parents horrible spoilt brat
The greatest loss is to have so much opportunity and to waste it. Money cannot buy back time a wasted life, it erodes no matter how much of the stuff you have. You are far better off to have to work hard and make something of yourself, than to have it handed to you on a plate and do nothing with it. This is a lesson to all the people who think money is everything.
they put their property & assets in Trust = no inheritance tax. Look into this the commoners can do the same.
From Wikipedia: _Fulford attended Sunningdale School in Berkshire, but *failed* the common entrance exam for Eton, so instead attended Milton Abbey School in Dorset. After leaving there, he did not go on to any higher education. At 18 he started a career with the Coldstream Guards, but *failed* the Army Officer Selection Board exam and so left after nine months. He travelled to Australia to work as a jackaroo, but soon returned to Britain, re-taking (and *again failing*) the Army Officer Selection Board exam, before moving to London to briefly work as a stockbroker and insurance broker. _ And that is just the first paragraph of hislife. This man has lived a sad life full of failure. He knows his only "value" is his birthright.
😂😂😂😂😂 thanks for the laugh
I am a direct descendent of a Knighted Aristocrat. My ancestors were Cambridge farmers and dry land agricultural experts. They migrated to Australia in the 1870’s. My grandfather was a dairy farmer, and my maternal grandfather had agistment property. I was raised with a farming background and they were very resourceful and frugal. I know exactly where my food comes from. Does my pedigree matter today? No. I don’t care much about titles. My ancestors were intelligent and hardworking free settlers that made a huge difference. Today, I choose, willingly, to love below the poverty line because of my faith. I don’t follow money. I pay my taxes and my civic duties. As a Christian, I would rather be poor and free rather than shackled to an estate and “old money”, and my parents thought the same way. As for false titles and man made estates, let them return to the people. Australians grew weary of the “aristocracy” long ago. We no longer live in a society divided by “castes”. So what if the former “nobles” cannot afford their luxuries??? Their original status was built upon hard work and leadership. The current ones know NOTHING about sacrifice.
People saying "oh im glad im American" have you SEEN our leaders lately?! They are so old, so loopy, and have been in office for over 40 years!! If thats not a noble class ruling us i dont know what is!
That's modern Britain in a nutshell - clinging on to glorious past while falling into disrepair
100% TRUE
These ridiculous toffs have zero relevance to 99.9% of British people.
Oof. This is too true, unfortunately.
