Pelé, the new Netflix documentary, chronicles the life of the Brazilian football player, Edson Arantes do Nascimento - better known as Pelé. The documentary looks back at the extraordinary period when Pelé, the only player to win three World Cup titles, went from a young superstar in 1958 to a national hero, amidst a radical and turbulent era in Brazilian history.
The film charts Pelé’s remarkable journey to becoming the ‘King of Football’ and leading his nation’s team to their historic win at the 1970 World Cup. With rare and exclusive filmed access to Pelé himself, the film emotionally showcases the star reflecting upon his impressive career. The documentary also includes rare archive and interviews from former legendary team-mates at Santos Futebol Clube and the Brazilian national team, including Zagallo, Amarildo and Jairzinho, as well as extraordinary testimonials from family members, journalists, artists and other personalities who witnessed the golden age of Brazilian football.

@@athul.sankar I know today's defenders are better and the game today is much more advanced, fast and fluid. This is due to sports development. The pitches are much better, the ball was much heavier and the soccer shoes of both the generations aren't even comparable. A whole lot of advancement has been made. Better training techniques and equipments are there. Messi is obviously a better dribbler because he has the benefit of much better and effective training. Back then there were no personal trainers as well. You have to speak relative to time. Pele was the best in his generation no one can stop him while Messi and CR7 are best of this generation but Pele was more dominant in his era. About the goal scoring record, Im a CR7 fan and I do say Pele has been crossed officially but Pele scored many goals in exhibition matches which were mostly against giant European teams. They begged him to play there because he had become a world wide sensation. Having a ratio close to 1 speaks numbers and nor don't say Brazilian league was farmers league because that statement would be idiotic.

It really was a shame that he never played in Europe, surely he would have won the golden ball countless times! How can people even try to compare messi with him... He took a small club from a small town in brazil and drove them to be the best club on the planet in the 60's. Brazil never won a world cup before Pele and had to wait 24 years to win again after he retired. Messi is great but he never won anything with national team and Barcelona was a giant before him already. It's not even close. Pele played in an era when the boots weighted half a kilo each, the ball was also so heavy, the actual playing field most of the time didn't even have grass. Opposing players could kick you in the face and nothing would happen cos for most of his career, yellow and red cards wasn't implemented yet. How dare you to compare Messi with the greatest?

Football was a little developed sport. Imagine if this man was given millions every month, gym trainer, proper nutritious food, modern outfit, a soft and modern ball. It is said that for preparing for the World Cup at that time, Brazilian players were tasked to put a car/truck tire on their backs and go upstairs inside the stadium stands. Today, he would fly.
