I'd hardly call it pouring. The USA has sent like 20x as much to Israel over the past 2 years. Sales to Taiwan are about 400-500M USD a year, while the actual military aid is valued at 80M USD. Meanwhile, Israel gets a baseline 3300M USD a year, plus occasional gifts and a good deal of the Pentagon's black budget goes to finance "unsanctioned operations" especially against Iran, though they further some of these cyberFer companies from over there
It doesn't and isn't the aim. The aim is to protect the security and social and economic system of Taiwan. At the same time, however, the US wishes to maintain friendly relations with China. These aims are obviously in some conflict.
