It's well known that the way to the Taskmaster's heart is through his stomach, and there are many points to be had for culinary excellence.
On this episode of How To Win Taskmaster, Alex recounts some of the most memorable meals cooked up in the TM house.

In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
So many emotions crammed into a single "Oh, gang."
This might be the 15th time I’ve watched that blue m&ms journey. 😂😂😂
@@RuthBhmand if I were taskmaster inhaling an m&m would definitely earn a bonus point.
"I trained as a chef" "I can see why you're a comedian" LOL
Such a casual way of absolutely destroying somebody
It absolutely amazes me that Alex continues to invent/allow cooking tasks after some of the atrocities he’s had to eat over the years.
He doesn't care what he eats, he tasted those pies in season 1, it was a lesson to us all and set the tone.
@@kaitlynlucas8379 I can't believe dog food ravioli didn't make it into this video
His commitment to the spirit of the show is what has made it so iconic
@@Sam-lr9oi I imagine there are somethings he just doesn’t want to relive more often than necessary.
Alex has said he has no taste buds
The difference between Bob and Alex’s greetings gets me every. single. time. “COME TO ME HUMAN MAN, TASTE OF MY FACIAL FLESH” “hello, Bob”
"I'm a sinner, I have sinned" to this day is one of my all time favourite Taskmaster quotes.
"I've sinned again! I've sinned again, man!" breaks me every time
Mel's reaction to the surprise "eat your sandwich" task is so good you forget Alex's comment on her plans (in the studio): "I want to blow the Taskmaster's tiny mind"
The point where she gets the m&m in her nose just kills me. Every time. One of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Alex tried to be professional and hold back his laugh in the earlier series, now he would laugh the hell out of that blue m&m with the audience 😂
TIP: If you're tasked to make something edible but aren't explicitly told that Alex will eat it, assume there's gonna curveball where YOU have to eat it.
I mean at this point can we even call it a curve ball? It should be expected by anyone who is a fan of the show.
Bob Mortimer's mask is by far my most rewatched task. There are just so many things going on. Why does the alien want to be eaten so passionately? Why is this a sin? And probably the biggest question; why is the alien a Georgie? Heady stuff ...
I've sinned again
Good ol' Masktaster.
This is brilliance.
Surprised they didn't include Sue Perkin's "surprisingly pleasant" fish sausage from Series 16.
Yeah! Justice for the *only* person to cook an objectively good thing in 16 seasons
@@ilunaker1032I think Frank Skinner's alphabet meal from series 1 was all quite good, he certainly took home the 5 points for it.
@@ilunaker1032 Didn't Hugh's food usually turn out surprisingly good? Even if not the prettiest?
I mean jamalis babushka meal did actually get eaten willingly
@@sarahkirner9603 Hugh never made anything for Alex to eat that I can recall, he had to eat his own sandwich and he ate the most of it
Alex keeps going into these cycles of "oh god what did I put myself into" and "this is going to be tv gold" so often in the same task, it must be quite confusing for him.
I suspect that he is a masochist and he creates some of these tasks hoping for the worst.
@@1MoTimeRoundEntirely possible! 😁
@@1MoTimeRound Yeah, I can see that. He definitely puts the TV show ahead of himself and his comfort.
I think you should have included Joe Wilkinson's egg breakfast. That's one of the most memorable cooking moments on this show, for me...
Alex is preparing the rest of the world for when Greg takes over 😂
Hugging Bob Mortimer while going at the mask, that's a life well lived so far.😂 If "Make your own kind of music" were a person, that would be our little Alex Horne.
Just love Mel - she is official nice ❤
Frank Skinners alphabet meal should have gotten a honorable mention
That's a good one... Joe Wilkinson' egg breakfast also deserves mention.
Alex, Greg is going to be pissed when he finds out the deplorable state you've allow the bush-side of his caravan to end up in. Maybe it is time to get a random contestant to clean it for you as a bonus task to appease him?
"Oh gang..."
Mel and her sandwich never fails to make me laugh 😂
“Oh gang”
I love watching AU and NZ assistants reluctantly do food-based tasks bc it’s a part of the job at this point 😂
I’m genuinely impressed that Mel even tried to eat her enormous sandwich
My complete guess is that attempting it might get her at least one point, while refusal would mean disqualification. Just a thought.
@@Elwaves2925 I think that’s a fair point
She ain't no quitter
@@Elwaves2925 if I remember correctly she actually came second on the eating part, so yeah her attempt was worthy
@@iliketrains3495 Thanks, I meant to look it up myself but forgot.
08:19 As for his flesh, he gave it to me, Shabriri... I hope you can make peace with that.
I also immediately thought of Yura lol
Sweets up the nose, profiterols up the bum. Taskmaster always finds the oddest places to put food.
I might be one of the few people peeved by them calling the Matryoshka doll a "Babushka". One is the name of the thing, and another is a word for "grandmother".
"In some countries, matryoshka dolls are often referred to as babushka dolls, though they are not known by this name in Russian"-wikipedia
@@NibbiefulI'm disappointed that neither Wikipedia nor the source it uses gives any countries as examples. I'm curious which countries that would be (aside from the UK).
I can't believe Morgana and Liza's cakes were omitted.
10:59 Seeing what's on the end of Alex's implements, one must wonder if there's another sinner in the caravan with him.
Imagine the mess you could make, "cooking" in Taskmaster VR! No clean up :)
The mask was hilarious 😂
ARE THERE MORE LIKE YOU IN YOUR PLANET
I’m convinced Bob Mortimer IS an alien 😂
That first task is the stuff of nightmare
I love the bit when Alex eats, or rather, attacks Josh's mask
Just as great as the bit where he got attacked by Bob's mask 🤣🤣🤣
That caravan at the beginning looked like it’s certainly seen better days. Lol y’all haven’t been there in a while it seems.
Taskmaster, the show that makes us question our own basic need to eat.
I think that a next episode should be about watching out for surprise follow up tasks. I mean, we've seen what happened with that last sandwich. There seems to be something to look for in the wording used, like what's the criteria for winning and what is aked of us.
Surprised you didn't include arguably the show's best cooking task: "Make a [adjective] [country adjectival] [noun]."
Bob is the goat
Bob is also the Would I Lie To You goat
Alex, witnessing a contestant about to make great TV during a food task: let 'em cook, let 'em cook!
love the thumbnail choice
Cant wait for season 17! C'MON!!! ❤🎉
Now i'm ready
But sadly i will never be in lineup
I'm surprised they didn't show the meal made with alphabetical food. That really tested the contestants imagination and skills
What a fun series 👏 😀
I must have seen Mels sandwich in at least 4 different videos by now, but i still dont think ive seen anyone elses for that task. Maybe one day ill get recommended the full one
It's Series 4 Episode 8 if you want to see the whole episode. First taped task
Oh gang
KONICHIWA
Oh my gosh that first one was kind of horrifying
Happy Snowfurfee I hope everyone’s having a beautiful day and all your dreams come true 🥶StayFurfee🥶
I’m just surprised that Alex knows what placenta tastes like.
Wheeeeeeeeeeee
I'm sure, if I get picked, my mediocre cooking skills will not hell me in any way.
"one hundred and thousand" Why the English doing just call them sprinkles is beyond me
"And that's how I got diabetes."
Mel´s Sandwich could kill a room full of Diabetics
Where are Sue’s superb sausages?!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.. Matrioshka🪆 Not babushka 👵
Look up the concept of a "sin eater" ....
It's called a Matroska, not a babushka
*Matryoshka
Just don't ask them to pronounce it. It is completely fair to call it 'a doll' - this word they know at least.
"In some countries, matryoshka dolls are often referred to as babushka dolls, though they are not known by this name in Russian"-wikipedia
@@Nibbieful Probably because the word 'babushka' translates as 'grandmother' while doll represents a relatively young woman in national clothing.
I don't remember that flag task at all
No Joe making a whole meal when he just had to eat 1 egg?
I'm surprised the dog food ravioli didn't make it.
should prob clean that caravan. u got spider webs inm it and shit
Gordon Ramsey for Season 18?
I hope not. There's not many I wouldn't want on the show but he's one of them.
Funny how every single person pronounces the word 'babushka' wrong in exactly the same way.
While using it to name a thing that doesn't even named babushka xD
@@DudkaLenayep, it was matryoshka actually
Please do not ask them to pronounce 'matryoshka'.
first
Woohoo! I’ve never been first!
I can't watch Bob Mortimers mask. It makes me want to vomit.
The series with lee mackand jamali was dull AF
To each their own. I enjoyed it and it was far better than the series with Johnny Vegas. And far, far better than the season with the unwatchable Russell Howard and Alice Levine.
@@1MoTimeRound series 11 was, by far, the worst, its the only series I couldn't finish.
I am not a vegetarian, but it always bothers me at the thought that an animal died so that it could be used in a game as a piss-poor meal that will never be fully eaten to validate its existence.
Animals do not exist to be eaten
Alex mentions in the full versions of many of the food-based tasks that any edible parts of the leftover food get eaten by the crew and don't go to waste. Just because the chicken from Jamali's task wasn't fully eaten in matryoshka form doesn't mean the rest of it didn't end up in a nice soup.
Bob Mortimer is a legend. 😂 Mel's sandwich would have been fine if it wasn't 17 layers
Terrible episode to watch on an empty stomach.
