In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

    • As someone who isn't particular attracted to either of them, there is still a part of me that wants to see them married and living happily ever after. They just seem like the perfect couple. Although Greg obviously delights in humiliating Alex, the slightly more subtle piece is how much effort Alex puts into irritating Greg and catching him off guard (so that he can be punished??). They are the perfect yin and yang. And behind the performances and personas you can tell there is genuine affection between them. If only it wasn't platonic...

  • It's interesting how Joanne says stuff that seems completely outlandish for which she is first roasted and which then turns out to be true. Happened with the nasolabial fold and the pig story. Though "pigs have gotten smarter" is a slight misrepresentation of the actual study that just found that they were smarter than we previously believed. And yes, they did play video games and learned them faster than chimpanzees.

    @DrZaius3141@DrZaius314127 күн бұрын
    • it's also because, Dr. Zaius, we dont have a great grasp or objectiveness on human intelligence quantification, so an animal study would warrant even less explicit amounts. It's difficult to not make it simple pop-psych clickbait.

The skinny: In a rudimentary video game, all 4 pigs performed better than they would with pure chance. While the results concerning how they learned, i.e. got better at the game, was mixed, the fact that they understood how they impacted what was happening on the screen gives them a kind of awareness few other species have. The study with the chimpanzees isn't openly accessible, so I couldn't check the data about whether the pigs truly outperformed the chimps as dozens upon dozens of articles state, but the study does exist and it stands to reason those publications (some of them with high reputation) didn't make that part up when everything else is backed and available.

    • :) in a perfect world, this could be nice, myself I could happily watch a 24 hour channel of it :) Tho I'd expect that the main edit length and format is to fit the live channel 4 tv broadcast slot. It's probably a tricky thing for them to balance. So the way it's uploaded is likely to be the simplest, without incurring a lot of extra cost in doing multiple edits at broadcast quality and/or it getting more complicated just in legal clearances etc [as this is Avalon, an international broadcast tv company's output - so they would need to have some executive check and quality control all of that sorta thing in case it bites them on the arse later]

    • It must be so difficult for someone not used to different English accents. I even remember Greg getting confused by Chris Ramsay. Chris had a bit of a rant and Greg's response was 'no, that's too geordie for me' . I'm Cornish so everything confuses me.

I remember seeing on Instagram how Scottish man was asked several times to repeat his words because no one could understand him at some committee meeting.
