I was trying to think of recent trailers I considered amazing and all I could think of was Mulan. This is such a beautiful trailer showing the story of Mulan joining the army to save her dad. "I am blessed with two daughters". As well as the epic version of "reflection". Simply beautiful.

I think what they might be mixing is the actual story of Mulan and their version of Mulan together. Because it wouldn't make sense to make it a story that's wholly new when it's supposed to be just a live-action of a movie that was once animated. And another interesting thing about like the real story Mulan is because there's no definite version of it. Because it's a folk story right? In so that might be giving them more Liberties to do certain things

It's true for our tradition too. When my father tells others that he has 2 daughter's they always say that it's a shame he doesn't have a son to continue his line. My mother cannot bear another child . I'll never forget the day my father told a man that he is blessed to have his two daughters, right after the man said he felt sorry for my father. That was the day I finally love my gender. But still sometimes I feel bad for my father cause where we live it is a traditional belief that if a man doesn't have a son than he is not considered a man. Also if a woman gets married she should leave her family to become a part of her husband's family. So if me and my sister gets married than my parents will be by themselves. I may never get married to have family of my own cause I want to take care of my parents , in the future I'll search for a man who will except me and my parents, a man who doesn't care what others will think of him cause we have another stupid belief that if a man lives with his wife and her parents he is not a real man. But it's 2020 and maybe in the future things will be different.

the point of making the live action was to honor the chinese culture and their legendary poem. Disney said that this live action inspired by both "the animated 1998" and the "ballad of mulan" The animated vs live action : 1) The animated mulan used "Fa" as mulan surname instead of "Hua"(mandarin) but the correct one is Hua because "Fa" is the other dialect in china (southern china) which is cantonese that people in hongkong and guangdong use to communicate and since mulan lived in nothern china not southern china. (HUA MULAN = BLOSSOM MAGNOLIA) 2) the phoenix(feng huang) is a great replacement of mushu. Feng huang symbolizes graceful and both genders man and woman and it suits mulan character as well . But i think the way that the father said "the phoenix raises from the ashes" was reffering to a greek phoenix. 3) The loom . The ballad of mulan story starts with mulan weaving in front of doorway with the sound of creaking (which is shown in the 2nd trailer mulan) and prove that mulan wasnt tomboy at all she is feminine. 4) the imperial army coming with the conscriptions scroll which is both(animated and live action showed us) 5)the emperor who in ancient times was considered as "son of heaven" . The only badass Disney ‘princess’ isn’t even a princess at all, it just makes Mulan even cooler :). Out of all the live action remakes they have done, this one by far looks the best and it isn’t even out yet. I hope this movie kicks ass. Mulan is one of my favorite Disney movies.

Mulan’s courage and quick thinking destroyed hundreds or possibly thousands of hun invaders. She saved China from an army, then she helped save the emperor from that army’s ruthless commander. Mulan is, realistically, is the most badass of them all.
The legend of Mulan is not about blind loyalty to an oppressive government and/or money. It is about rising to the challenges in life, taking charge of our own destiny and moving forward with courage. With Liu as the lead actress, how can this film celebrate this legend? How can this film ever do it justice or honour?
