  • I took my 13 year old to a Green Day concert a few weeks ago (Hella Mega Tour in Atlanta) and she had the time of her life, even though she only knew a couple of their songs. The energy in that arena was nothing short of electric, and as all the kids said, the music is super relatable. An entire arena of people spanning a broad age range singing in unison is something everyone should experience.

    • Totally mate. It shows their versatility and longevity that people born decades apart can like a band, which is commendable. I'm 41 and Green Day to me is the way before Dookie (but including Dookie) stuff. Everything (pretty much) tuned down 1/2 step. '2000 Light Years Away', "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield", "Going to Pasalacqua", "Welcome To Paradise" etc. American Idiot was a bloody good album also though.

  • "Their videos are so cliche" Yes that cause people then valued music more than cinematography in a music video.

    • Eh, not really. Music videos used to be better, but I feel that now that streaming is becoming more prominent, artist don’t care as much about music videos now. They’re starting to come back a little, but I swear I see the same music video for like 10 different songs

    • Jakob Martin I don’t think they’d recognise any Kerplunk songs, apart from Welcome To Paradise because they’d probably think that it’ll be a Dookie song.

    • Jakob Martin well, it is a Dookie song but is actually a song from Kerplunk, which you probably already know

    • The first album is just called 39 and smooth. 1039 Smoothed out slappy hours was a compilation of the album 39 and smooth, the EP 1000 hours and the EP Slappy.

    • I agree! Out of all their popular songs, basket case is EASILY the number 1 most identifiable song of theirs and inarguably one of the most iconic and recognizable rock songs EVER that’s in the category of immigrant song, bohemian rhapsody, back in black/highway to hell, etc.
