0:01. Breman machinery - Karst Wensink
This plate rolling mill factory is located in Purmerend, Netherlands. The factory can roll and bend heavy materials with extreme precision. The factory has one of the heaviest angle bending machines in Europe with a bending capacity of 3000 tonnes x 8000 mm. The factory can bend a 100 mm plate to the desired form without difficulty. This video shows heavy Hauesler 3-roll plate bending roller muscle machine. This roller is able to distort heavy plate material hot and cold, for example, it can cold roll S355J2+N, 140 mm thick, 4 metres wide
03:08. The Dishing Machine - Vlad Adrian
This video is about forming of a hemispherical industrial steel head by dishing & flanging processes. This machine can make flexibility, high productivity & quality of the end product. It can form heads of any shape, be it flat, conical, standard, torispherical, semielliptical, or ellipsoidal. Material thicknesses range from 5 to 60 mm in the cold condition and up to 80 mm in the hot condition. diameters range from less than 1m up to more than 8m. The dishing and flanging occurs in two sequential operations that each require specific machinery: the dishing of the blank and the forming of the plate edge
05:13. Nieland Shipbuilding Presses
The cold forming of a saddle shaped panel on a Nieland shipbuilding press. The universal shipbuilding press with 3 functions in one Nieland's shipbuilding presses of the SBP series are extremely well outfitted for the production of so called "double curved hull panels". Double curved hull panels form about 15-18 % of an average ship's hull. SBP portal presses are the most common type of Nieland shipbuilding presses.
09:54. Doosan's factory
This is forging press machine. Pressure is delivered to metal about 1.700 ton

    • D.Cypher..I worked in an Engineering Factory in 1991,in Blyth Northumberland,England,UK,and we used these Roller Bending machines then, and the one where I worked, had been there Donkey's years, when Blyth was a massive Shipbuilding and Mining Community. NOT Computer controlled in those days...PURE SKILL by the Platers,[a Shipbuilding and Engineering Trade] It was Amazing to watch even just 20 feet long x 8 feet wide x 1/2 " thick Stainless Steel Plates being lifted by Gantry Crane, moved into the rollers, and watch the skill of the Operator move the plate backwards and forwards ,through the rollers, while making sure the pressure applied to each side, was what the Engineering Drawings dictated!!...More pressure at one side than the other, caused the Plate to twist out of the Horizontal Plane, like a section of a Helter Skelter!!...this was sometimes done deliberately to create compound bends for that Application. The Plater couldn't afford to make any Cock-ups with Plates that size, plus the Expense and time involved in turning the Plate over and straightening it out to start again!! Next time you pass an Oil Refinery,or see a lovely Ship...spare a moment's admiration for these guys, who,in the old days, like Lads I worked with, never went to University..these trades ,like Coalmining [which I was for 30 years],were passed down Father to Son,Tradesman to Apprentice..Schooling,YES,what we in Britain used to call ..."Day Release"...i.e. ONE DAY EACH WEEK AT SCHOOL!!..Hands on the rest of the week!...Cheers!..Bill in Beautiful Northumbria in the UK.

I certainly have reverent respect for the old ways, as, some things until recently couldn't be replicated with computer control.* There is still a vast amount of room for hands on knowledge, technique, and human skills.
