Havanese are highly adaptable, but they can also find contentment in a consistent routine.
They are intelligent extroverts who take their jobs of being a watchdog and a comedian very seriously.
There are some additional pros and cons with this breed to consider as well.

If my Havanese doesn't like someone, I'm calling the cops
same
I know right? They love everyone. Complete strangers and even the vet!
Totally agree with everything here! Housebreaking was hard for my Havanese-he never quite learned how to signal. But he is the best dog I’ve ever had. They forgot to include their quirk about loving to tear up paper! 😂❤
No paper or cardboard or toilet paper is safe. I bought my wife 2 (brother n Sister) and we love them so much already. 5 months old and they drive our 3 yo Pug Otis crazy. Otis tries to keep up with them but they're little bundles of limitless energy. Still haven't completely broke them yet.
Lmao, what's up with tearing up paper? Mine are OBSESSED. I have two havanese and if I leave my pants on the floor, they will dig through my pockets looking for paper towels or pieces of paper to shred.
@@nightshadehelis9821 I get it! Ive left napkins out accidentally and left my house, only to come back to little shreds all over the floor
Mine loves ripping up papper too, its like crack cocaim for them
My Havanese would’ve been a show dog, but he had a huge overbite and he was never accepted. But he’s the most lovable puppy ever and I love him.
We love our little Havanese. Would never consider another breed. Lovable and SO smart!! ❤️❤️
Which Breed You Will Buy Instead Of Havanese If You Have To Buy???
So true. My brother has a little Havanese pup. Best dog ever!
Us either ! We are on our second our first baby died at 11 years and not one day goes by I don’t think of him and we bring him up at least once a day ! I’m still forgetting and calling my JASPER he’s 4 Noah . But we love him the same . Sweetest thing GOD EVER CREATED ! So gorgeous also
Yes, indeed. Our Fidél is the smartest dog, I've ever met. Sometimes it's almost bit creepy how much he seems to understand human language.
Best dog ever. Sweet, funny and very loving. I got him 3 years after my Bichon Frisée. The Bichon had him housebroken within a day. The Bichon, who was 17, recently died. I worried about the Havaneese, however, I was surprised at how quickly he adjusted. When friends asked how he was doing I told them that he’s a perpetually happy dog.
As a happy owner of a Havanese. I can attest that there is no “con” to have a Havanese
I love my Havanese, he is a sweet loving boy
I love mine too his name is Max
My Havanese passed away 💔. I still cry. He was my first dog. His name was Kirby
I have a Havapoo and he is the best dog I’ve ever seen. He is as close to perfect as is possible. Seemingly humanlike intelligence, super sweet, very easy to train, very friendly, very soft, very cute, very healthy, very adaptable and lots and lots of fun!
I have 2 Havanese currently. They are the sweetest most loving dogs I’ve ever had. I am hooked on this breed and housebreaking wasn’t as bad as other breeds like dachshunds.
We love this breed so much that we have THREE HAVANESE !!! 🐶🐶🐶♥️♥️♥️
My dads Havanese is a bit of an exception to the rule. dad told me he was extremely Easy to house break (he still goes pee and poop outside on command at age 7), but once my dad passed and we brought him home he gained a ton of weight from less physical activity now and loves to bark at anything that moves outside, along with being extremely stubborn when it comes to walking, he will run and walk until he’s tired then he’s done. That’s it, he’s going home. Also he growls a lot but never bites or attacks anyone, just a bit territorial of me and our bedroom. He must be around me or hear me too 24/7 if I am home, or come with me to the store or for a car ride. Extremely loyal dog, stayed by my dads side for 12 hours when he had a heart attack in his bedroom until my dads friend showed up and found him.

Basically there"s no CONS to this breed.. such a lovable loyal dog.
Best dog ever. I always told everyone my Charly was the perfect dog and he was. 14 years of love. Miss him so much.
Just got my second one. My guy is 15. The girl 9mos. Best dogs ever. Perfect for my home.
I love my havanese Disney is literally the best thing to have happened in my life I love her so much and she helps me when I feel depressed or sad
💖💖💖💖💖💖
We have a 10 years old Havanese. Thankfully she's not obese, she's still playful and outgoing for a 10 years old dog, and rarely sheds if she ever does.
We love our little havanese
My havanese is the best. Friendly, outgoing and easy to train. He doesn’t require much work because he is happy just to be around us. Love him!
Can they be left at home for a few hours? With toys etc
I have one! I love her! She's so sweet but protective💗
My havanese is named javier, he's my savior and my best friend that I owe my life to because he has saved me multiple times. Javier was given to me by my mom, I wouldn't tell her what was wrong but she could tell that something horrible was happening. I was suicidal not due to any mental issue, I had just been diagnosed with a horrible chronic and fatal disease that I will die from. But thank you so much for my javi when I do pass it will happen naturally because I could never leave him.
Wow, brings tears to my eyes, you a smart mom!
Thank you very much, I'm actually a dad though. Well a single guy with my favorite dog❤️🩹🦴
@@lexcorp8462 Es hermoso que Javier este en tu vida. Me encanta lo fuerte que eres y que luches por tu felicidad. Saludos amigo del mundo
@@emytann7838 Muchas gracias mi hermosa
My havanese is really shy and I wouldn’t describe him as a guardian at all lol, he’s also scared of other dogs, he always hide behind my legs but after getting to know the dog he loves to play. He loves every human he meets tho. He’s really the sweetest and smartest I love him so much
He also doesn’t shed or bark at all
@@sofiad8696mine barks a lot during the day
The cutest, smartest dogs ever!!!!
agreed!!
I absolutely ADORE my Havanese. He’s my child. ❤
Our Havanese is 10 lbs of pure pleasure. Smart, clever, happy, and super cute. She’s our first small dog ~ we’ve always had labs.
I have a lab and am thinking about getting a havanese hahah
They're like pint sized Labs when it comes to temperament.
I love my Havanese!
The only thing I didn't agree on was house training. Our Havanese was house broke in like a week it was amazing. The only thing we have to watch for is she doesn't bark when she wants to go outside she just sits at the door. Which is strange because she barks at everything else.
😂😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
I agree my havanese was enthusiastic about going outside. 10 days tops!
It really differs I suppose but they are indeed notoriously difficult to housebreak as many other smaller breeds.
It took me 4 days to house break my havanese and he has had 1 accident since then and that was 5 years ago. Best friend I've ever had. Fiercely loyal and loving. Hes playful and funny and always wants Lovins. I recommend these dogs 100%. Oh and excellent with children.
I have an middle aged havanese boy (he's 9) and he is honestly my best friend. He's so energetic and active still (even though he has some arthritis in one of his front paws from a birth defect) and he loves to run around. He loves to nap and just be near us just chewing on his bone (which is the only toy he's not succeeded in completely eviscerating).
So you have no bone guarding issues?
Sounds like a great companion for a elderly woman who gets lonely during the day, I think a lap dog would make her days better.
I must have an exceptional Havanese! She completely house trained in a matter of days and she loves everyone!
I am strongly thinking about Havanese as my next dog. I've been a German Shepherd and Doberman girl so far, and think of myself as a fan of big dogs, but I met one of these little buggers running around looking like an absolute ray of sunshine at a big public event, and considered how my dogs have never been well mannered enough to enjoy big events with them, and folks are scared of them because they are large. I was totally enamored with this smiling, tiny, sociable pup, whereas I usually avoid even considering "toy breeds".
Go for it! I have had one for 4 years! I promise you won’t regret it.
@@colingordon0986 So true. I adopted two Havanese puppies in 2010 (from different litters; while I was trying to choose, I fell hopelessly in love with both 😁) and they are weeks away from their 13th birthdays. They have been very healthy little girls, and I do make sure to brush their teeth almost every day. One likes to sleep now more than before, but the other one is still as energetic & playful as a puppy. I can’t imagine our family without them!
They truly are the best little dogs! Very much a "Velcro" breed.... funny, smart, easily trainable, dances, great as a therapy companion dogs.... I have never dealt with ANY of the negative remarks made in this video! But my Havi LOVES to run and do the zooming! Often used in Circus acts
My havanese was housetrained sooo quickly. I had a dog toilette for a short time and he was allowed to use the balcony in emergencies, but this was not necessary for long. We didn't have many accidents. Only one carpet obviously looked like a toilet to him. I removed the carpet and then it never happened again. Beside that: best dog in the world. I love him to bits. Funny, loving, loves to learn tricks. Easy to train.
House training was a breeze with my Benji - it only took two times (as in, he only pee'd in the house twice before he realised it wasn't okay). And naturally, all these dogs need is a stern voice for them to understand that something is disproved of. The gentle approach is the ONLY best way. So yeah, that 'difficult to housetrain' statement isn't really true at all.
I completely disagree with the house training in this video. Maisy has been the easiest puppy to house train! We couldn't believe it! She's only 3 months old.
I completely agree I had mine potty trained in 2 weeks
Agree my guy as easy to house break.
A good way we solved the issue of loneliness during work/school time was getting her another companion and putting them in a cage together. It’s supposed to fit a fully grown mastiff so it was able to fit both small dogs, two beds, and bowls of food and water. Once we did that both dogs calmed down. It’s been 10 years and they still use their cage and view it as a safe space to go when anxious
What breed did you choose for a companion? I am looking to solve this same issue. Thanks.
@@southforkpropertiesllc6061 We chose a Yorkshire terrier ☺️
Video- they will let you know if anything suspicious is happening in my home Me- remember when my havanese was a puppy and barked at the fire on the stove my mom was using to cook noodles
I love my havanese pup
Really a very detailed breed description.
I have a havanese x dandi dinmont pup and she’s got the best little personality ❤️
Many havanese are easily house trained and excessive barking is very uncommon. If I saw this video before, I would have been put off the breed and I am so glad I didn't.
Thank you for sharing with me. I had heard they are very intelligent and actually don't bark often unless to alert their owners or bark for a purpose but are generally very quiet. I can't wait for the right time to own a Havanese.
You nailed it, this video has info others do not. Glad I didn't see this prior to getting mine
@@Michaelgracon Our Havanese just looks at the neighbor's dogs disdainfully when they are barking like they are idiots! He only barks when someone is at the door or in our yard. He is an excellent watchdog, super sweet, smart, athletic and does not shed! Fantastic breed but you cannot leave them alone all day, they would be very unhappy.
@@cindyodorizzi7292 Thanks for sharing. What you mentioned is the reason I don't own a dog. I'm busy with school and work so it wouldn't make for a happy life for a sweet Havanese. Maybe in the future but for now KZhead is my fix.
I am now terified please help. We bought a havanese in our homeland and we will pick him up in august. We live in a building im scared that he will bark when hes home alone. I dont know if we made a good choice. Please change my mind
I love my 2 year old havamalt Phoebe. She has every trait good and challenging. But I wouldn't change her for anything 😌

Nice video! I am also a Havanese and as you said a comedian and a watch dog! 🤪

18 years old!?! 😍😍😍 That is incredible! Omg my heart palpitated - I envision my little Benji to live (without pain) for MANY years above the average just like Lucca ♥️ 18 years, that's amazing - mashala xx
The havanese in the thumbnail Looks just like mine
I love my Havanese.
I have a Havanese female who is still not housebroken after a year. She’s pretty good for days and then just does her business in the house after being outside constantly! It is unbelievable! And stubborn- I had chow chows who were more obedient! Still, they are funny and companionable but they do need exercise and grooming.
Yeah the Havanese breed seem fairy easy to train but seem more difficult to housebreak. Have a look on forums etc and this definitely seems a common trait.
Have you tried talking to a trainer?
@@cockerspanielworld why do you think they are? Is it stubbornness, pertsonality, etc/ ?
My Havanese will be 2 in November. She knows how to go outside, doesn't hesitate to wake me up to go outside but she still pees in the house, sometimes 3-4 times a week. She refuses to go on a potty pad, she would rather tear that to shreds. My Maltese will hold it for many hours, up to 12 in the past. Wookie pees in the car, on the front porch mat, on the stairs, wherever. It's so frustrating but she's dang cute with her crazy eyes!
Just lost my Havanese, Poncho, @ 18 yrs.and 5 mos I will love him forever
So I thought my dog was a shih poo but come to find out shes def a havenese
I love the longhair is so cute!
I really want to get this kind of dog but others keep saying we should adopt, not buy. But we live in a small house with an unfenced yard and have a 6 year old boy and a Ragdoll cat. Most dogs up for adoption are said to not be a good fit for those conditions and we’d really prefer a younger dog so we have a longtime with them.
I miss my doggy.
My havanese baby suffer from the separation anxiety. ı tried every youtube video, create training, hiring dog trainer but nothing works actually. They are the most amazing dogs with the best personality but i dont recommend people who will left them home alone
They like to be in the car 🚘
have two new puppies 11.5 weeks today they are sooooo funny

I want another one!! Anyone know about some puppies in TX??
I used to have a havaneese dog.....but it died.......IT WAS TO CUTE TO DIEEEEEEEE
My Havanese puppy is not trainable :) A day after training him, he forgets what sit is
no dog is untrainable just work hard and understand how young the dog is :)
Understandable, dogs need a consistent routine and they follow patterns. Keep doing it and it works
Now he is about 7months old, and he follows what I say! I guess dogs need to be mature enough to understand humans' words
@@heeheh0000 That’s great! Training takes time and many havanese are fairly difficult.
He is training you.
I've got two! Dusty (black and white boy) Coco (all brown girl)
We had a dog called Dusty too....She was a Cocker Spaniel though.
We're picking our new puppy up Friday. Already decided to name her Coco! Can't wait!
All havanese have different characteristics. I have a male havanese that sheds horribly and gets brushed close to daily. He is low maintenance in my opinion as he is okay with laying in the same room as the family. He loves chewing and playing tug of war. House breaking was immediately taught and he did great. He never growls or barks unless I play too aggressively. Some characteristics contradict this video. Hope it helps
Have you considered that your dog may NOT have a pure bred Havanese? Maybe he's a cross with a maltese or other. My male Havanese has ALL the standard characteristics: NO shedding, NO dander, NO odor, great watchdog...only barks when necessary (someone at the door), loves other dogs, kids, people, happy, playful. intelligent. Cost me $4000, and worth every penny!
I wish I had discovered this breed long ago. My little one is a delight and matches many of the things discussed. He’s barking as I write this.
@@larryagrapides9790 I purchased my havanese from a reputable dealer and he was 4500. He came with all his papers and akc registration. Only pure white havanese I've ever seen. He's definitely a pure breed. He too thinks he's a guard dog, plays with all kids and adults for that matter, intelligent and aware but he sheds alot.
Havanese are hypoallergenic, you may want to get him vet checked as he may have a skin condition.
@@larryagrapides9790 me too except I got one for six hundred (:
The one item in this video that I take issue with their making a blanket statement that the only way to avoid a dog "with tunnel vision" type behavior is to raise it as a puppy does a HUGE disservice to Havanese in rescue. I have a Havie and I also volunteer for Havanese Rescue. Please know that good training along with a loving and patient home can overcome most issues - including some behavioral issues as well. This is not only a person opinion but an opinion based in fact. Case in point, Dogs For The Deaf in Oregon gets ALL of their hearing and service dogs from shelters in their surrounding community. They have successfully taught rescues dogs of any age, breed, size, sex to notify owners for sounds, specific sounds, as well as other alert types. Moral of the story - you CAN indeed teach an 'old' dog new tricks! ;) Do not let this video dissuade you from adopting a Havie or Havie mix that is out there. Puppies come with their own set of frustrations such a potty training, destructive chewing, crate training (done in increments that takes time), the need for a series of shots (beyond the 12 wk puppy shots), etc. You also don't know what personality you may end up with. An adult (and, yes, a 2year old dog is considered an adult) has an established personality so you know if they are more aloof, a kisser, a cuddler, etc. #AdoptDontShop
My Havanese has just pros, maybe the only con is eating, he hates dry dog food!!
I didn't have a havenese I had a bichon frise I would say it was grooming it's very expensive and necessary. beware to make sure you research the total cost Any dog can be trained most humans don't Please make sure you are committed to the responsibility
I'm trying to find an affordable Havanese breeder in NH but it's pretty tough. Seems to be rare. Saw one in MA but wanted $3-4k for a pup. Yikes!
I paid nearly $5k for mine. But he came with many health checks and his line is excellent. You can pay when you get a high quality pup, or pay later in vet bills and heartache should it have genetic anomalies that compromises its health.
Question? I have a 15 year old Shih-Tzu, considering a Havanese pup, what do you think, good or bad idea?
I inherited a havanese puppy who I was taking care of for about 2 years up in Idaho while I took care of my mom. He is used to always having my mom and his older sister around and a lot of nature and more freedom. We have since lost his sister and my mom and I currently live in dirty LA. I am starting over. Struggling with working outside of the house because he hates to be alone and when I bring him with me, he whines or barks at customers.. lol.. I tried to find him an older couple but I didn't and I don't know now how to let him go. We are very bonded.. How long can I leave him alone? I was doing 4 hours, come back home and have a break and walk him.. but i still hate it and barely can leave him.. I tend to do a four hour shift come back and walk him.. He's about 11-12 and He acts like a chubby puppy who does sleep a lot too.. He just hates being away from me.. and then I change my plans just to be with him.. and then suffer the consequences.. Any suggestions or ideas would greatly be appreciated. And is it okay to leave him while I work or should havanese always be with their person? I read somewhere 2-4 hours is okay for the havanese breed? Thoughts? Thanks again. Cheers!
What is better for apartment, male or female?
My havanese wouldve been a show dog likely, at least they were supposed to breed with her, but she developed blindness in one eye. Now i have a havanese dog for free because she comes from a breeder while we were supposed to be like a guest family for her. He owns a kennel? Idk the English word lmao, I'm dutch
The only Havanese I knew belonged to my friend ans would sit on my lap one minute, and the next sneak up while I wasn't looking and adorably latch on to my ankle and not let go, lol? Is that normal?
My dog zeus is havanese and he's really a comedian,if he's peeing he always copy my son,he stand up before peeing, sadly he died, coz of parvovirus
House training was easy, and mine doesn’t bark.
I find it difficult to teach my havanese new tricks- would she enjoy it if we taught her more tricks?
My little Penny broke her back last week. She’s still in the hospital and we can’t even go see her. Breaks my heart. Missing her so much right now.
I hope she will be okay. Sendimg hugs yoir way💞
So sorry to hear that. Speedy recovery, Penny! Your family is missing you so much!
So sorry, get well soon Penny 🙏🏻💕
How did she break her back? Mine walks in my path all the time and I'm worried kids are gonna step on him. Hope she gets home soon
@@honestychampmilland2007 Not exactly sure how it happened. She jumps up and down off the furniture, beds, etc. My vet and the surgeon both said that smaller dogs are prone to back injuries like this. And that once it happens, their health can very rapidly decline to the point they can die. When the surgeon called me with the final diagnosis, he said, “We need to do the surgery as soon as we can.” I asked, “How soon are we talking about?” He said, “My assistant just finished scrubbing and as soon as I hang up the phone, I’m going to operate.” The surgeon later said she would have died had he not done the surgery. This happened SOOO FAST. One minute she was fine. The next, she couldn’t move. I’m a retired cop and I don’t easily get emotional, but I broke down in front of my daughter. Thank God she has fully recovered now. She’s back to being her little 6 pounds of playful energy! She can’t jump up onto things like she did before, but that’s okay, she’s still with us! And that’s what’s important. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!
How can I get this breed
3
My havanese is dark brown and white
My dear kitkat wakes me up at a regular basis To go poop. And urinate Though at times she cant wait to urinate still she only targets same spot But i do have worries cause i leave her alone alot of times about 3 hrs mornning and 3 hrs in the afternoon But she never does damage any furnitures she would however sulk alot when she gets to be alone more than 3 hrs
if youre only away for 2-3 hours and you dont trust her to roam freely in the house just put her in a play pen or a crate. Keeping her in restricted spaces also helps her hold it longer and just incase she cant make sure to put pee pads there and youre good to go.
My Havanese still marks in the house. I ha
Im more a cat person but this breed appeals to me.
Most of the cons in this video are extremely exaggerated, if you are looking for a havanese the main ‘challenge’ will be patience. But they are extremely awarding dogs that will change their behavior if you have the patience.
Every time these vids don’t get comments tho lol
My dad’s sister has a havine
My havanese dog Zoey is funny she always Lay down when I rub her belly and she tried to bite my hand but when I stopped rubbing her chubby belly she licked my hand like sorry for biting 😢🥰🐶
I heard that the Havanese does not bark much. Is this true?
In my opinion they don't bark too much, so not without reason. You can definitely train them to not bark much or only twice for instance. You should not take it away completely from any dog. They should be allowed to make themselves heard.
O had havenese frmale dog... after giving birth for second time she dies by car accident at night I still miss her so im watching this video
Havaneses do not give people allergies if there allergic to dogs it ( I’m not sure if it’s ALL of the havaneses but my Havanese does not give me allergies )
Cons?? Nah man...nah
Only one con of having a havanese . They die.
That's the biggest problem with all dogs. Human years pass so much slower than dog years in some ways yet in other ways the same seems ti be true.
a poet said that it's their only fault.
My havanese HATES everybody except my family. She is very aggressive and she has attacked big dogs before lol... but she doesn't have teeth lol
Not typical for a havanese at all.
@ems.938 yeah, she's an oddball
Havanese are not native to Cuba. They are native to Italy and Spain and were brought as gifts by traders to the cuban aristocracy. Sadly there are no havanese left in havana or Cuba and haven't been for over half a century. Also they don't "shed" at all, like us, their hair will keep growing until it it is cut .
Not completely correct. Probably the maltese came to cuba and was mixed with cuban dogs, and the result were the havanese
Not according to the AKC @@ems.938
My aunt's Havanese smells of urine, is super unintelligent, and is pathetically afraid of everything. It this typical of the breed?
Did anyone put effort into training and cleaning the dog properly? If not, that is most likely why
My havanese is not really sociable to strangers, he s overprotective, he s really aggresive towards other people, it may change later as he is only 10 months old, but idk
You have to train it. They need boundaries and guiding.
sounds like you failed to socialize him at a young age now its either the tough way or no way
Why do people assume it's the owner's fault?! Have you ever had a difficult dog? Sometimes they come that way no matter what you do?! Positive or negative. Hang in there, hope you figure it out.
People love their designer dogs while 6500 dogs are euthanized in shelters every day. And many of these dogs are just as lovable and cute as this guy. Don't buy while shelter pets die.
some people can’t adopt for allergy related reasons, if they couldn’t get a partially hypoallergenic dog, they probably wouldn’t get a dog at all. but if you can adopt, go for it
@@roxiefrox252 - I once saw a bumper sticker that said: "We had to get rid of the kids. The dog was allergic."
A shelter dog is fine if you want a pit bull. I have a special needs child and refuse to have a dog with a massive jaw as you never know. They may be friendly but they have the potential to do serious harm. I have been trying and trying to get a small dog from a shelter. I am fine with a mix, in fact, a mixed breed would probably be healthier and cheaper to insure. I cannot have a big dog. When you get older they are harder to manage. All the shelters that I call say their small dogs are adopted quickly and have multiple applications. We don't all have a budget to feed a large dog nor the room for one either, so guess what I maybe buying a havanese from a family that is a couple of years old at a price that is similar to the price that rescue organizations ask and with out the long adoption applications, multiple references, fence requirements, the curriculum vitae, etc. that the rescues ask for. So not everyone is looking for a designer dog. Some of us are just looking for a small affordable dog and it seems like so many other people are also. .
@@lorimav - My 10 year old Labrador Retriever, Baxter, died in Jan 2021. I was heart broken. At the local shelter they had a lot of Pit Bulls. I too don't want a potentially dangerous dog around. (Although I have seen videos here on YT of really wonderful PBs). But I decided to look for another breed. Last month at the local no-kill shelter, I found a "miniature" Lab mix at only half the weight of my beloved Baxter. I adopted him and named him Riley. He is a real hell raiser. Wildest dog I have ever seen. I am retired and it's all I can do to keep up with him. After the first 2 weeks I considered taking him back but decided to keep him. I have been working to settle him down and get him to behave. It's going to be a difficult task but I think with consistent, firm and gentle training, he will be a really good dog. It's just going to take time.

@Suguna Kukreja Oh ! dont think about that yet, just enjoy your precious puppy , the experience with them if you take the ride its amazing, they are people dogs they thrive humans , so if you are up to that and understand they do not like to be left alone too long and are hungry for your companionship then you will have a good life with him, I was lucky enough to work at home all his life span so he was with me 24/7 from 7 weeks to 17 years , and they were the best years of my life , hopefully you have your puppy all these years like I was blessed to have mine , its so worth it, I cry not because my biscuit died, I know he went all the way, I cry because I miss him so so much !
My Havanese just passed away and was the best dog ever. I’d say all of this is true, but they aren’t very barky in my experience. They bark at neighbors or at the doorbell but when they aren’t guarding the house they are very quiet. My dog also didn’t have an issue with weight but she would have if we fed her as much as she wanted to eat lol.
