Kyle Shanahan's biggest mistake in SB LVIII, more talented QB than Patrick Mahomes? | NFL | THE HERD

2024 ж. 12 Ақп.

James Jones joins the show to share his reaction to Super Bowl LVIII with Colin Cowherd. The two discuss Patrick Mahomes, and the 49ers collapse in the 2nd half of the game, plus why it was a mistake for Kyle Shanahan to keep the ball in Overtime instead of deferring to the Kansas City Chiefs, and allowing Mahomes a shot to win the game. And while Mahomes is getting all these well deserved accolades, Jones maintains that there's one quarterback he believes is more talented than the KC QB, even after three Super Bowl rings. Finally, the two praise Andy Reid for his mastery of the team, and lay out how his skill at the head coach position has helped Mahomes and the Chiefs achieve all they have.

    • James analysis is flawed He makes it sound like if they stopped them on the fourth down Kansas city can punt. Both teams have 4 downs going for it on 4th is optional. The better argument will be shanahan should have gone for it on 4th and 4 rather than kicking the field goal. Because if they are stopped it becomes risky for Kansas city to go for it on the 4th because that gives 49ers a short field and a touch down or field goal wins the game.

It was solely on who is the most talented QB you've seen!!! NOT who is the GOAT. BUT he also said that Pat has all of the qualities as Aaron Rogers!!! His assessment of the Ravens defense after the Chiefs won was amazing!!! He said, "As soon as that game started, I said, this Baltimore team isn't ready for Patti!!!" BUT they talked how Pat is the most clutch QB!!! His take b4 that game & he chose the Chiefs & said, "I ain't going against Patrick Mahomes no more!!!" Their discussion was how?!?! By the end, J.J. just said, "B/c one five is trotting out there, & that's why we're picking them!!!" He knew some of other stats of Patrick I hadn't heard before!!! And he said, "It's CRAZY!!! I can't go against that!!!" But this conversation did make think more of Brock Purdy. Though I do think he played amazingly well, his take on how an exceptional QB elevated his stats & the same with the Chiefs' players made me wonder, though they came close to winning, my question is can they can win the SB with Brock Purdy?!?! I don't know?!?! But I feel the same with Shanahan. Can they win the SB with Kyle Shanahan?!?! Their defense played better their offense, & the defense coach was fired!!! It just feels like Wilks got thrown under the bus!!!

    • This game especially shows how much football is a team game. Mahomes did nothing including throwing a pick the first 3 quarters of the game since the muffed punt touchdown was like the last play of the 3rd quarter . Usually if that happens, the other team is blowing you out. A lot of credit goes to that defense keeping him in the game until he got it figured out. Rodgers only had 2 top 10 defenses in his career and won the Super Bowl one of those times. The rest of the time his defenses were ranked 20th and below most of the time

    • Not that Mahomes can’t do complete them but rodgers definitely had more jaw dropping throws per game most QBs could only dream of making but Mahomes is more clutch

    • @@richardruan3378 mahomes makes no look passes and even throws with his left hand. There is no argument to be made for Rodgers (or anyone else for that matter) having more arm talent

      @125efa@125efa2 ай бұрын
    • Mahomes himself has admitted that stafford and rodgers were doing that long before he was. Never said Mahomes can’t hit those throws. I just said rodgers threw more of those per game. A lot of it has to do with McCarthy never being known for scheming people open and lefluer not really his offense to keep rodgers happy and Mahomes has Reid consistently scheming people open so he doesn’t need magic on every play or every game to win

  • He has a great point of getting the ball second in OT due to that “extra down” when you know what you need when you get the ball to either win the game or at least stay in it. Edit: obviously this is due to the new rule change from last year. And them not knowing that rule is inexcusable.
