For those wondering, this is, in fact, a Zebra Finch. She should start learning to fly at the age of 3 weeks, so I hope you keep us updated !
We have Finich's where I live and my daughter is in love with them. Now my daughter is 7yrs old and she loves learning about animals. I had to bring my dog to the pet store, so I could pick out a new toy for her to destroy. I brought my daughter with me and I had to show her all the animals the store had for sale. One of the type of birds they sell is a Finch. I tried to explain to my daughter that is throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the aisle we were in. These birds are very high strung and jumpy. They don't make for good pets and will fly away the very first chance they get. Personally I don't understand why they sell them for pets. But after 20 minutes of kicking and screaming, daddy gave in and bought a Finch for her. Now I had to buy the cage and everything for her. The first day the Finch got out and flew into the window in her bedroom. I was praying that the bird just knocked itself out, but unfortunately it didn't. There were so many tears in this little girl and I knew she was heart broken. The 1 bird that she loves watching feed at that the bird feeder, she had. Then not 4 hours after bringing it home, she reached in to give it more water and the bird got out. So we went back to the pet store and I bought her a cocktail. This has been 3 weeks in and that bird hates my daughter and loves me. Every time my daughter sticks her finger out to let the bird climb on, the bird bites her. She does the worst thing you can do in that situation. Never pull your finger back, no matter how bad it hurts. But she's 7 and doesn't understand yet. Sorry this was longer then I expected. I wish you the best and please take care.
@@jasonwebb1882sorry you can’t stand up to your child and make her understand no means no hopefully you figure that out before you raise and little tyrant
@@jasonwebb1882children have got to learn, and what better way than to give them those chances. Now your daughter knows that daddy was right about finches and hopefully she learns that animals have personalities just like people and you are able to help her figure out how to navigate with the new bird ^_^
@@jasonwebb1882Zebra finches are social animals. Getting just one is incredibly bad for their mental health. Get that bird a friend and get the cage a lock. A 7yo should not be playing with an animal she could crush with one hand.
Yep, that's what I thought based upon what was flying around in the aviary.
I never in my life would have imagined being so happy to see a bird poop. That little one is definitely a fighter.
We miss so much, beauty and tenderness in life….🥹
You Win for the Best Comment, i felt the same way lol
Thank you for the video it is truly amazing and beautiful to see such tenderness and love for little baby bird...made my day.❤
And what a poop that was ah….all nicely wrapped in a lickle package!
Oh dear I'm crying, your tenderness with these tiny little ones. Gets me right in the feels.😊
Right!😍 I keep proposing marriage but he hasn't responded for some reason 🤔
I cried too. So kind.
man im so proud that there's a human being that is so passionate about every life he has in he's hands. Greeting's from Polnad
Stimulating baby animals to release the "package" after feeding is one of the steps of hand-raising that often gets overlooked. Kudos for showing it, so aspiring animal rescuers can see some of the less glamorized parts of the process.
I’m glad someone acknowledged this, because I was just as pleasantly surprised to see this actually get covered as well
That was one hell of a huge “package!” 😂 It looked bigger than my parrot’s poop! At the very least, it was definitely bigger in comparison to it’s body than my parrot’s poop compared to it’s body size! That was the part that really surprised me.
I AM PROUD OF THOSE OF YOU WHO MANAGE TO READ THIS WHOLE THING. I SEEM TO HAVE WRITTEN AN ESSAY. Its the same in puppies sometimes. We had a puppy named cinnamon who had nerve damage in her throat at birth, and therefore could not drink from her mother without it coming out of her nose and her having to stop to breathe, and for this same reason she couldn't be bottle-fed either. She wasn't getting enough food because of this and wasn't growing fast enough. So during the day I would feed her every few hours by putting a tube down her throat and into her stomach and filling her stomach with a mixture of goat's milk and her mother's milk(yes, i milked a dog. The mother has important antibodies in her milk for her puppies.) Before this i would have to stimulate her to toilet and afterwards I would burp her. Tube-feeding can be nerve wracking because you have to be sure that your tube is in the stomach and not the lungs, or you could drown the puppy. You also have to ensure that you don't over feed them, or they may vomit and inhale the milk. On top of this, cinnamon was so small and wiggly that it was difficult to keep her still. Luckily when she and her siblings were being fed grool(dog food softened with goat's milk, puppy formula, or water) she was able to eat it better than she could drink milk and i didnt have to feed her as much, but still had to make sure she got enough nutrients. After she was eating only dog food, I no longer had to tube feed her and she would also drink water on her own. She still makes strange sounds and sort of coughs for a while after eating or drinking. For a year or two after being weaned, she would occasionally come running to me and start circling my legs with foam coming out of her nose and her mouth hanging open(this is because she cannot breathe) and at this point i had to swing her with her head pointing down(there is a way to do this without hurting the dog, please dont swing a dog unless you know what you are doing, you could cause brain damage) and smack her sides in time with her attempted coughs until she started coughing on her own and stops acting agitated. This would especially happen if she ate anything bigger than a piece of kibble. Now, she has either figured out how to chew her food or her swallowing has improved somewhat, since she hasn't choked (that I know of) for at least 9 months. Although, after eating or drinking, she makes a sound that is in between a cough, a sneeze and a gag for a few minutes. (My family calls this a harfle). Cinnamon is very closely bonded to me and will follow me wherever she can, and will snuggle with me any chance she gets.
I was surprised at how big it was in comparison to her. Very interesting.
thank you. i learnt something useful and important. Do chickens need the same to deliver a packet? Ducks and geese too?
This man is a legend
He's dr doolittle
Literally a legend !
He absolutely IS! 💕

And we need people like him
That tiny little life in his gentle hand 🥹 such an amazing and beautiful thing ❤
What an amazing rescue video! I have never seen a baby bird that was this tiny before. Thank you for saving this precious little bird and for sharing these heartwarming moments with all of us. God bless you for the wonderful work that you do and the extreme gentleness that you show in raising these young birds.💕😊🐣👍🙏🏻💕
The love of small helpless things is the most manly of attributes
True!

💯
YES!!!❤❤❤😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉‼️
100%!
Omg, that "package" she passed was rather large. I did not expect that 😮
Same!
A couple of years ago he rescued a tiny bird that fell out of its nest. He nurtured it carefully all along, and he was delighted when the little one started to turn its little bum up in the air and extrude a neat little package for him to take away with chopsticks right before feeding time. It was the cutest thing…he would approach, and up would go the tiny bottom.🖤🇨🇦
she practically gave birth to it!! Strange how it's half her size!Perhaps because she needed "stimulation" to dispatch it so was holding it for dayss
Right?
🐣She passed a “package “ so cute! LOL! What a wonderful/beautiful video!❤
Man the way you fed and took care of that little baby bird is amazing, thank you for sharing!! You are as amazing as they birds you film!
My heart always feels so warm when I watch your videos. Everything about them fills me with joy: The kindness on your face, the gentle and reverent way you handle the eggs and babies, the lovely and perfect music, and of course the baby birds themselves. Thank you for all you do to save these precious little lives, and to share these miracles with all of us around the world. 🐦🐣😍
How fragile and yet how strong. With her see-through body, her struggle to digest, she is safe in your expert hands. Thank you for each little one you save.

im watching through your videos today, a day after my childhood cat passed away, and tearing up at each one. the care you show each and every animal that crosses your path, no matter how small, is enough to make me cry even on a happier day. but watching and reminiscing about raising my cat from when we found her in a barn, ignored by her mom and only a few weeks old, makes them even more emotional. thank you for all that you do and for caring for these little lives with such dedication ♥
WOW!! That's tiny. You're the perfect man for the job. Your love n care is amazing and inspirational. Such beauty. Thank You for bringing the furries home protecting them. Much love to all, furries included.
The joy on your face when going to rescue an animal is heart melting. The way your big hands are so gentle with the tiniest babies shows the true nature of who you are. I have watched a lot of animal rescuers. While most are genuine, I've never witnessed it change someone as it has you. You deserve so much, not just for what you do but for the love and kindness behind it. I see the ugly/evil in humanity every day. You help me realize that there is still hope. With love from South Carolina, United States

This!! Beautifully said!

Bless . Her exit package was almost as big as her. A delicate step in every way, wrapped in love. X
How can something so tiny deliver something that big? Amazing
I come here because this man genuinely is a beacon of hope and his videos lifts my spirits. Was the first channel I watched after losing my dog as the videos are heartwarming.
Sorry for your loss. A hard time. 😢
I’m so sorry for your loss, I know I’ve been there… 😥You obviously make an excellent parent… Please consider adopting a lost, and lonely, heart broken Doggo, at your local Humane Society… There is a special heart there waiting and longing for you… That will reward you 10 times over… You have a lot to offer, don’t waste it…❤😊 so many animals need help…🥺😥💔
Your videos make me cry. What a precious tiny life.
God bless you! You have kinda restored my faith in man here by lovingly helping this tiny defenseless lil bird. Stay strong lil guy! I hope to see you spreading your wings and flying soon!
This is one of the most precious things I have ever seen. Birds and Bees I love them so much. You are so gentle.
0:43 He looks like he’s making an interesting meal here... Clearly he’ll be hard boiling the small eggs, while the bed of wild rice boils/cooks underneath the eggs, right??? 😂😂😂
I agree. His videos make me teary in a good, awe-inspired way😊
The hatchling was so tiny and fragile! Your skill and kindness inspires us all. Thank you.

This little one needs a lot of subtlety to be well handled. Heartwarming to see such tenderness in caring for this tiny not-yet featherball. Please, keep us updated on her development. And thanks a lot for caring and sharing❤
I'm so happy to see a current post, and to know that you are still out there, performing miracles for these tiny creatures! what you do is amazing, and beyond wonderful. Thank you!
Maybe you can help me; I don't know whom else to ask. I found a baby wild rabbit the other day while hiking, and instantly realized there was no way he would be able to find his mom back. The place is full of predators and it was a newborn, visibly away from any possible nests and looking shaken. I took him in, because no other animal refuges were still open, and I decided to take care of him throughout the night. I found on the Internet that you can feed kitten's milk replacement (KMR) to these little ones twice a day, as they don't eat as much and that milk is as nutritious as rabbit milk. He refused drinking at first, but I did get him to drink some. At night, he seemed all right. I tried to stimulate him to defecate, as I've learned in your videos, but nothing came out. Thus, I made a box with several small blankets and else for him and turned off the air conditioner to let him sleep. The next day, though, he seemed weak and incredibly cold. I got instantly worried and put him in my hand, trying and trying to warm him up. I also tried to feed him again and succeeded at it, but some of the milk also went to his nose; I was able to clear it out, though, and he could finally breathe. Now I also tried to stimulate him to pee, and it worked. However, he seemed weak again. This was around 11 am. I then drove to the local refuge and gave it to them. They tried their best, but the little one died. I was just notified today. It really makes me sad; I tried so hard and got attached, but still it died. I don't know what happened. Did I feed it wrong? Did it aspirate an unfixable amount of milk? Did I not stimulate him to pee in time? Was it too cold for him during the night? I have no idea of what happened. I really want to know. This was the first time that this happened to me, and I want to be ready for next time. What should I do? What can I do? I hated seeing this happen, especially because I could have done better, if only I had known what to do. Please, if you know what was my mistake, please let me know. I need to learn. I really do. What would you have done? Thank you, and I want to say that your channel was already a life-saver with trying to have this little one survive through the night. You are amazing. Please, guys, like the comment so that he can see this. This is truly important. Sorry for the long message.
the first thing - you should give it to refuge as soon as possible, i know that helping animals on your own is "a cool thing" but also - an incredibly hard thing and there is a lot of things you are going to do wrong while learning how to do "the right thing" but in case of little animals - doing the wrong thing is going to end up with death, so whenever you have a chance to do it - leave it to people who already know how and have resources. I think it could die due to few things - blankets do not provide warmth, just isolation, animal that is so young needs source of heat to stay warm (like, bottle with warm water wraped in blanket, or some kind of heater) otherwise its going to get cold and it is one of the most dangerous things for small animal (it applays to birds also). Cat milk is better than nothing but its still for cats, not rabbits so it decreased your chances of success. Feeding two times a day is definitely too rare, it should be once every few hours (how frequent exactly depents on age) and it is probable that you werent feeding it enough because without experience it is very hard to feed animal that young so people tends to feed too little. There could be additional rules for caring for rabbits that i dont know about (like with mice where before start feeding with cat milk you have to feed with electrolytes first etc etc) but i would mainly blame lack of warmth. Im sorry that it happened to you, caring for animals that young is very very difficult and rarely ends with success first time, so my only advice can be handing it to people who already made those mistakes and know what to do
Thank u for trying. I did catch that u tried to take it in, but they were closed. Don't let this crush u. We all make unknown mistakes along the way. I admire u for reaching out too.
1) Rabbits nest. If you find actual babies and not just young ones hopping about, know that mom IS coming back once she's fed. She knows where she left her babies, it's far safer for them to cuddle hidden away than try to keep up with her. 2) Young rabbits explore until they don't return to mom. That's nature, just like fledgling birds, just like fawns, and like most humans. 3) Predators deserve to feed their young too. The death of a young bunny might be sad to you, but would the death of fox kits or owlets starving be less sad? Stop feeling responsible for every life you see. Unless you feel the same devastating responsibility for the splatters on the windshield that you do over squashed tadpoles or a seemingly lost rabbit, then you are picking and choosing and being a hypocrite about saving life. If all life is precious, then educate yourself rather than being nosy and trying to play god/ savior because you walk upright with hands.
@@Undomaranel that^ unless those "predators" are cats and dogs, because they arent part of the ecosystem, just pests (and im saying that loving both - cats and dogs)
Sweet Tiny One! Your love and care moved me to tears. I would have been so scared to accidentally squish her. Thank you for doing this and sharing her first steps into life! ❤

Oh my God I was so enthralled with this video. When you were trying to feed her or him for the first time, I literally held my breath waiting for her to get that first drop. And it almost looks like she’s flipping you off when you have her on her back to feed her. I thought that was funny. Thank you for saving this little bird. You try so hard all the time and it’s never underappreciated. We’re behind you.
This is so amazing to watch. A new life hatching on Easter Day❤. Thank you for this miracle.

Baby birdie… I’ve always loved your videos. I have a soft place for wild birds and when I find one that needs help I help it. Using knowledge I’ve gained from your videos and books I’ve learned how to hand raise tiny birds like this and it’s just amazing. I love being able to help a little life through the world.

Oh, my! 🥲 How beautiful! I never expected to see beauty in such a small, fragile creature as a baby bird, freshly hatched! Such a will to live! I don’t usually weep watching youtube videos. Mister, thank you for your care of this so small creature! It’s a beautiful thing! 😍🙏
This video has made my day, I love birds. It's amazing how tiny and fragile, yet strong, and fighting for life, baby birds are. Thank you for sharing this little miracle you made happen.
When you think about how much life force, how much heart and raw will to live is contained in that tiny fragile little body, it's mind staggering. So far I've rescued and raised 15 birds, all but 2 were pigeons, and every time I do it, I'm in awe, not only of the creature itself, but the vast infinite power of the creator who made it, and I am humbled once again.

I am a firm believer that all the babies you help enter the world FEEL your warmth & love from which they get the desire to thrive & live! And for those who didn't survive they knew what love felt like in their short time here on earth. Thank you for sharing these amazing videos with us. Best of luck with this teeny tiny one, life is absolutely remarkable isn't it!? ✌💜🙃🙏
Woah, that "package" was as almost as her whole body, bless her tiny soul! Lovely little birdie, we'd love to see her growing and flying around you while you're out taking care of your garden and the rest of the animals 😊
I am always fascinated at the way baby birds produce a neat little package for the Parents to dispose of away from the nesting site. If they just dropped it over the died, a predator could easily find the nest, and eat the babies. It is an amazing survival tactic. I remember the first time Alwyn had a tiny bird that fell out of its nest. He came to the nest to feed it, and the chick did a kind of headstand, and up went its tiny bum…then the package appeared for him to take away with chopsticks. He was delighted by this clever trick. It was a couple of years ago…but so sweet.🖤🇨🇦
Precious gifts that some of us have the honor of opening. One day a little cat showed up at our house, he would follow me from the utility room, as l went outside to hang close up on the close line, l looked down to crab another piece of laundry and smokie was right there with me, that went on for awhile next thing we noticed he was gone. I have often and still to this day l look up beyond those clouds and smile. He not only needed us, but we needed him. The heart wins again. Look at the shape of the heart and notice someone always has their arms wrapped us. Just one more thought, this takes me all the way back, to high school graduation on the seventies, looking through the messages people signed in my annual, l came across this, you didn't walk in front of me for you knew l might not follow, you didn't walk behind me for you knew l might not lead, you walked beside me and became my friend, l am blessed to have had smokie for a brief moment while the clock of life ticked by. And all the little friends since then, hopefully many more will be with me for not only my life, but more importantly theirs.
wholesome as ever , just innocent and heart warming , your way of making videos are down right awesome
This is the most precious thing I’ve ever seen in my 42 years on this earth. I’ve seen a few videos of people doing things like this but such a small bird and the care he takes for this baby just had me in streams of tears. Whenever you are having a bad day this video has to cheer you up by the end. I’ve never seen a baby bird so tiny in my life and he knew what to do. Whether you believe in god or not, I am so grateful and thankful that this man is on this earth doing deeds like this. It fills my heart with so much joy and love to know there are people answering the call to our animals in need.
Thank you for Caring and Sharing this. It is so Precious ❤
Es ist so wunderschön zu sehen, wie sehr er sich freut, wenn eine aufzucht gelingt....ich kenne niemanden, der dann so glücklich ist ❤❤❤❤❤

This is me around horses. It is difficult to explain. Once you absolutely love an animal, it is the purest joy one can feel. I can be absolutely miserable but give me a day around even new rescues who are terrified of me where I just sit near the stall not being a threat and making them slowly more comfortable with humans, and I'm so happy. I volunteer for wildlife rescues nearby for birds as well, and the joy you feel when you've caught one that can be rehabbed is so great. Even after multiple failures due to severe illness, one successful rescue makes it all worth it.
Alwyn you restore my faith in human kind, which in the present day is hard to do- stay strong x 🏴
Your wife and children are so blessed. What a beautiful mind and soul you have.
It must be very rewarding to see them grown up and knowing you got the to where they are and without you they wouldn't have ever survived!that's incredible patients and time!
Thankyou for giving this little one a fighting chance, this video made me tear up. You started my special interest in birds and conservation of wildlife, I can never thank you enough
That's adorable and I know your joy : ), I grew up on a farm 100 years ago as a kid, I found lots of baby robins storm dropped or from blue jay raids, but for them their much bigger and durable, my mother and I would raise em, interduce them to nature which would take over for most, we had a couple males over the years that wanted in the house when it got cold and would stay for the winter lol, it was awesome as a kid to see a robin nest right by the back door the house and a friend from last year that came back all proud to show me what she made.
Great job of rescuing a tiny bird egg. The efforts you had put and the love you had shown towards the tiny creature are highly adorable. You have lots of patience and kindness towards saving wildlife. Is it possible to upload the other video showing the fully grown up miniature bird? The entire episode is goose bumping. Thank you sir for your beautiful video. 👍
I love watching these videos. You’re so gentle to these little guys. I love watching them grow up.
