  • Jack considered going into a virtual reality for a couple of hours a day to be with the virtual version of his wife, then spends the rest of the time out of simulation taking care of her real body and going to some horrible job was a "perfect life"? Wow... I'd see that as absolutely horrible.

    • Exactly! The future depicted in this movie isn't exactly impossible. But it makes wayyyy more sense that only the husband is connected to the VR and all characters (including his virtual wife) would be simply virtual characters. (Like NPCs in games). The man will still need to be disconnected to do his regular 9-5 job and daily routines, but taking care of a vegetative body would really be a turn-off. In fact even single women will be connected to VR and living their own version of 'perfect life'. Doesnt even seem unethical to me, honestly!

    • Maybe it's the perfect life where he can show his wife that he can provide them a perfect life, he is capable, she shouldn't worry about money and just relax at home instead taking two jobs to keep them afloat. The stereotype responsibilities our society put to husbands that in real life, he couldn't do and give.

    • @@nooneseriously22 this is how I interpreted it as well. It was shown in a flashback that he kept apologizing to her when he lost his job, saying „how am I gonna take care of you?“. Whilst I do think what he did was wrong, I think he genuinely wanted this perfect life of a typical married couple where he is the responsible one, doing „his job of a good husband“ and her living „her best life“ as a house woman.

  • This movie is silly on too many levels. Lets focus on physical aspect: His wife is always in bed and he somehow feeds her, gives her water, have her in diper to poop and pee, change her tampons and takes care of her infections that would inevitably happen from a diper. On top of all of that he regularly turns her body over so she wouldn't get wounds and bruises from being in the same position all of the time. To pay for it, hubby has to work shitty job and do all of the above non stop and as a reward spend an hour or two a day with his wife in VR. And somehow that was more acceptable for him than suggesting his wife to willingly spend some time in VR when she came back from work. It would be like a resort you had full access to all the time - instant vacation, and for me it would be a no brainer. I would agree willingly.

She is only on the inside of the simulation, so her desire to get others to stay is a manifestation of her grief over losing her children...specifically not wanting to acknowledge their death. It is heavily implied Frank used the children to manipulated her in that the men are the ones who create the simulated scenarios. She doesn't WANT to stay, she can't leave either...in her case because if she does the illusion will break and she will lose her children. The men, however come and go as they wish.

What's funny is that, even though the comments on this video are criticizing the movie, the movie succeeded because it pissed these people off enough to leave such stupid comments. Jesus, people, grow up; commenting on this video is the movie winning, and I, for one, am on its side.
