A housewife living the perfect life with her hardworking husband in the 50s begins wondering if she is going crazy when she starts noticing secrets being hidden behind the company the men work for.

Jack considered going into a virtual reality for a couple of hours a day to be with the virtual version of his wife, then spends the rest of the time out of simulation taking care of her real body and going to some horrible job was a "perfect life"? Wow... I'd see that as absolutely horrible.
Yea I feel like if you have the tech to do that why not make a ready player one type world. Seems like both a lot of effort and a ton of wasted potential.
Exactly! The future depicted in this movie isn't exactly impossible. But it makes wayyyy more sense that only the husband is connected to the VR and all characters (including his virtual wife) would be simply virtual characters. (Like NPCs in games). The man will still need to be disconnected to do his regular 9-5 job and daily routines, but taking care of a vegetative body would really be a turn-off. In fact even single women will be connected to VR and living their own version of 'perfect life'. Doesnt even seem unethical to me, honestly!
It’s like drugs. It’s like being an addict.
Maybe it's the perfect life where he can show his wife that he can provide them a perfect life, he is capable, she shouldn't worry about money and just relax at home instead taking two jobs to keep them afloat. The stereotype responsibilities our society put to husbands that in real life, he couldn't do and give.
@@nooneseriously22 this is how I interpreted it as well. It was shown in a flashback that he kept apologizing to her when he lost his job, saying „how am I gonna take care of you?“. Whilst I do think what he did was wrong, I think he genuinely wanted this perfect life of a typical married couple where he is the responsible one, doing „his job of a good husband“ and her living „her best life“ as a house woman.
The most realistic part of this is that sometime in the future a doctor will need to do double shifts to be able to get by.
@:D no it’s not
@:D where??
Doctors and nurses make between 60 to 100k a year in the US. What the fuck are you talking about?
@@victorspennato3008 I don't know about doctors but I've heard stories like this from nurses. In some cases it's because the pay isn't that great, and in other cases it's because of the nursing shortage that they have to work extra shifts/long hours.
I can assure you sir that's the current situation of doctors
The lady who would rather live in a simulation because it's the only place she can be with her kids hits harder than all the others. I lost my daughter 3 years ago, and I honestly would choose a simulation than living 1 more second in this reality.

Imagine being so prideful that you'd rather have a crummy job and keep your wife imprisoned rather than cut her some slack because she's a doctor and is exhausted.
he refuses to cook dinner.....BRUHHHH
That’s what Hollywood expects people to act
'Imagine' being the key part of this.. Specifically, the imagination of a third-wave feminist who drank a bit too much of the woke kool aide..
Imagine wasting so much time caring for a meat sack that hates you when you could have a virtual wife who requires no care and does anything you want. That's the completely unrealistic part of this movie.

You are spoiling me with these 15-20 minute recap of movies. Honestly it's like watching longer version of the trailers with commentary. Thank you I really enjoy watching your content. ☺️
It's actually more enjoyable than watching the entire movie in many cases!
Movie is old as Moses!!! If you haven’t watched it by now you spoiled yourself
why didn't the guy just get a job to begin with and cook sometimes?
Because he didn’t want to be a beta male
Because he's a very insecure man narcissist at best. weak feeble spirited cant become a true person a true man to get a true woman
That's the logic of sexist and narcissistic people. Basically no logic and ruins the lives of other people for their own selfish whims.
Most men cannot think to do that
Yes. This is the message of the movie.
Ending explained: Her banging her head on the glass is meant to mirror the frustration felt by people who not only paid to see the movie but sat in a theater for two hours. It is like the writers giving a hand gesture while telling you to get out, there are more people who want to pay for this experience.

Tranquility lane itself was inspired by the episode 'its a good life' from Twilight zone, in that show it's not a simulation but rather a boy with godlike powers who takes the twon where he was born to another dimension and act like perfect little town, he can even read minds so if anyone is upset with him they die. His father had convinced him to let his victims be burried in graves in the cornfield

I'm confused; if she's part of a simulation that Frank or whoever (boss guy) is running, why do they need to physically chase her to stop her from leaving? The virtual world would be code - he should be able to stop her either through some type of console or admin privileges. Or just turning it off and removing her, since her husband isn't there to pay for her anymore.
But he doesn't want her to leave too cause she'll tell the world what he's doing. And if you didn't get it, trapping your wives in a simulation is kinda unethical 😂
@@onlyamberrr9635 he wasn't debating the morality of the story, he was talking from a technical pov, and as an engineer, he's got a point

This recap is fascinating. I've seen many people dump on this movie, I haven't seen it, but perhaps it is that bad, but a part of me thinks the bad publicity and "drama" behind the scenes is what influenced it's poor ratings. Okay, it lost me towards the end, but still, interesting concept. Not new, but done in a refreshing way.
What kind of drama happened behind the scenes?
@@frankdogg1985 Look up Olivia Wildes Thriller, I won’t put movie name. You’ll be entertained.

Nah I’ve seen the movie it’s not awful but pretty meh
Me and my bf watched it in theaters and it was so interesting until the falling action and then it ends up only being a simulation seems like a lazy way to end it. She wakes up and is restrained as well which made us think soooo she’s awake but is gonna starve to death?
Perhaps an AI program wrote this review and felt the empty eggs were the main plot of the film.
I admire your point 👍
All his titles are like this, they don't focus on the main concept because, what's the fun in that?
The eggs were the main plot than Olivia wild changed it all cause she has magic fingers.
They just somehow want the public attention first
I thought the whole channel was just AI recap dialogue over the scenes the yt channel owner decides to clip. Seems like it'd be fairly simple to give the AI the task to watch the movie then watch each clip and commentate, with the correct character names, on the plot progression.
Florence Pugh is a phenomenal actress. The story is interesting enough. Though the ending is a bit unsatisfying for me, but some would appreciate its open interpretation.
This movie is silly on too many levels. Lets focus on physical aspect: His wife is always in bed and he somehow feeds her, gives her water, have her in diper to poop and pee, change her tampons and takes care of her infections that would inevitably happen from a diper. On top of all of that he regularly turns her body over so she wouldn't get wounds and bruises from being in the same position all of the time. To pay for it, hubby has to work shitty job and do all of the above non stop and as a reward spend an hour or two a day with his wife in VR. And somehow that was more acceptable for him than suggesting his wife to willingly spend some time in VR when she came back from work. It would be like a resort you had full access to all the time - instant vacation, and for me it would be a no brainer. I would agree willingly.
All politics aside, this movie is amazing. I can't believe I let what the media outlets say about this movie stop me from seeing it. Never again.
I'll take your word for it
Yup, I don't care about social commentaries in movies as long as the movie is entertaining and this was. The mystery is what kept me hooked.

I shoulda known when I saw Olivia Wilde that this movie was "not meant for me". I love these recaps though... they help me decide if Hollywood deserves my money because I don't ever feel the story is ruined by knowing the plot.
lol why? Olivia Wilde's character WANTS to be in the simulation. She WANTS to live a delusional traditional lifestyle and tries to stop everyone else from breaking free.
@@deefarhei3617 Olivia Wilde's character serves a symbolic purpose. She is only on the inside of the simulation, so her desire to get others to stay is a manifestation of her grief over losing her children...specifically not wanting to acknowledge their death. It is heavily implied Frank used the children to manipulated her in that the men are the ones who create the simulated scenarios. She doesn't WANT to stay, she can't leave either...in her case because if she does the illusion will break and she will lose her children. The men, however come and go as they wish.
