Tough AF... Which is why (Obviously) not all birds even attempt such a prey... Vertical take off from land (without a jump) - not easy. Vertical take off from water (obviously without a jump) - really hard. Vertical take off from water with a prey and wet wings - my mind = blown; my eyes = watered. Usually with big birds like these, we can clearly see the altitude they each with each flap of their wings, at least half a foot if not more... Here, it was hardly climbing... My heart went out for it (that's cruel on the fish, but outstanding bravery and effort from the Osprey)

I've seen the ospreys in action a couple of times . Didn't think they were fishing they just kept splashing into the water over and over flaping there way out of the very large fishing pond flying higher as wings shed water then I guess around 60 or 70 feet boom back to the water . Very beautiful display of skill and accuracy choosing the exact time and spot to impact the dark serfise. They picked the right body of water . It was loaded with bass red eard sunfish bluegill and very nice special catfish

Despite the stunning aerial ballet of the Osprey's magnificent wings, it may have been pretty difficult for the Osprey to eat the huge fish unless it landed on solid ground and tore off pieces of the fish to eat.😮

I'm sure it tried, just didn't manage to. At the position it happened, all its right leg can grab is the fish's narrow tail which wouldn't have helped much, nothing its right talon can sink into

Fish: Actually, those talons hurt so bad my body was convulsing in agony. Then suddenly, all came loose. Unbelievable joy. Osprey: You're overweight and shaking all over. I was beginning to lose control, buddy. Next time, I'll come with my buddy. Watch out.
