I love how when he’s not inside of it, he’s next to it like he’s so proud! 🥰
He's just letting everyone (other cats especially) know that this is HIS house.
The cat is smart! He/she knows it could be trapped if the entrance was blocked.
Soaking the sun, knowing his warm shelter is not going away ❤
Who wouldn’t be proud to go from being homeless to a cedar cabin 😂 I know I would be
If he's smart, he'll let at least one other cat in to provide extra heat.
Lol that's such a husband thing to do, saying no and then giving in and doing it extra good. So happy for the kitty!
I thought the same! My husband would be absolutely against it, making me throw out the idea and suddenly he would be making plans on how to execute this and ordering supplies.. after 23 years, I know what to expect :)
Like my husband says happy wife happy house 😂
Great husband!
@@yadinavarro9810the actual saying happy spouse happy house.
@@dmvbawse4265i’ve always heard it said as happy wife, happy life.
Not the husband going all out and making an amazing home then sitting by the window waiting to see if he’ll use it.😅 I love this type of wholesomeness. And the name “Fat Billy” is fantastic.
Great job cedar shakes and all. Happy cat. All a cat wants is a full belly and a quiet place to sleep.
Would love an update on this to ensure this kitty is okay. What a beautiful cat, beautiful house, and beautiful hearts you have! Thanks for helping this cat out 😊
Yes, very cool, love updates.
It doesn’t look like it’s going hungry.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Update please, please, please.
We have found that many neighbors feed the cats in our neighborhood and they round to the homes they know will provide. He is doing the same. Clearly. @@gtf5392
Their instagram is in the description
The dog looking out the window with his ears up next his human is a cute scene.
I would buy that image greeting card
Doggo: -Hey Master, whats on catvision today?
I love that you are not forcing him inside if he doesn't want to be around people. You are working with what he's comfortable with.
Can you force a cat to do anything?? Nope
@jenscheibner792 True but I have seen videos where someone immediately moves a cat into a house rather than gradually introducing them in.
That’s like not forcing a 3 year old to live indoors. It’s irresponsible and lacks concern for the cat’s survival
@@atheistbewildered2987 An adult stray cat is NOT like a 3-year old. Please don't make idiotic comparisons like that. The cat is clearly able to survive outside and prefers it that way -- for now, at least. What would be "irresponsible" and "show lack of concern" is to FORCEFULLY lock a cat indoors against their will. It completely okay to EARN the cat's trust first.
@@shotjohnnyexactly. Forcing a stray cat in can cause them intense stress, which isn't good and can lead to other health issues.
ABSOLUTELY! Straw, NOT HAY, is what is recommended for feral cat shelters!! Not towels, not blankets, etc. due to dampness. Many thanks for your kindness, BLESS YOU BOTH!🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
I bought a cat tent from amazon for a couple of strays that comes around, I didn't realize not to use towels because I threw one in there. I'll have to take it out, but I don't have straw so they'll make do with it bare. But it does have a flap that covers the entry to keep out wind. They seem to like it
Good to know. Thanks!!!
Yes, I was going to post a story regarding that. We had an outdoor dog and barn cat. We had horses. My father and relatives had built our house, and we had tons of leftover materials. My father built this HUGE oversized dog house, that also had a lean to for summer shade that was like 6 ft long . He had surrounded it all, the completed box and lean to, with left over cinder blocks for extra protection. But because we had horses, we had lots of straw, and would constant line the house with it in cold weather. Hay easily gets moldy. You always had to check before you fed the horses and ponies. The house was so big I was still about 10 still crawling i and reading comics to Dudley. We had two steel containers, about 1 1/2 gallons each we always kept filled with food in one, water the other, inside his house. We had a freakish snow storm one winter. Back before internet. You had to try and go by what the 25% accurate weather guys on TV called. It was only a foot of snow, but without a lot of trees around, the wind created drifts 3-4' high in spots. I go to dig out Dudley and out pops Sylvester, our barn cat. They had spent the night together. While I am clearing drifts, they are out frolicking in the snow. Was a wonderful sight. But straw is definite key. It protects from moisture, holds in air, because most is hollow, and makes for good insulation. Before that storm, I had actually boxed Dudley in, so the whole entrance to his house was filled with straw. I dont know if Sylvester was in their by then, or he snuck in. They were very friendly. Dudley often let Sylvester have first dibs if we brought out "people" food.
I thought straw WAS hay.
@@trentblume5998 No, hay they eat. Straw, best way to put it, doubles like kitty litter and insulation material. Or something like you put in a little critter cage.
Too stinkin adorable when he’s lying next to his home as if he’s posing for the front cover of Better Homes magazine!😆Thank you for all your efforts ( and hearts) to this adorable feline…I’m sure he’s very grateful 🫶🥰
I love how he said "we're not gonna make a box for the cat" but proceeded to make a house and stake out at the window with his dog.
Insulated too with an Italian fresco on the ceiling.
I let the local stray cat in ‘my-house’, That was nearly 2yrs ago!, Now he owns the place!😂

Yesssssss that’s a Christmas and New Year Years gift
Thanks, Doll!! Really Appreciate Your Reply!!
LOVE THIS!!! My wife and I did something similar with our black cat visitor. Late November, and in the northeast it gets COLD, plus snow. So we lured our ‘Goldie’ in using the same food technique (Goldie because of the eyes!). Left the back sliding glass door open, and gradually she got comfortable enough to stroll over to the couch, and stayed! She was half-feral and not sure about us at first, but she acclimated pretty quickly. Yes, we saved a stray from probable freezing or becoming a dinner herself, and gained a friend!
Wonderful. She is very blessed to have visited you and gained a loving home.
Bless you both and Goldie will love you.
Cats choose their owners, and enter our lives for very specific reason/s. One day you will find out what that reason is. Thank you for loving her.
That does seem so true. My brother had a cat that passed away recently and I asked him if he would get another because he loves cats and takes such good care of them. He said he was waiting for the right cat to find him.😻
I ordered heated home for a stray years ago, she had babies im the summer and they would come to door and eat daily. Than they never left. I put house out. No interest she got on top of it. I made boxes with plastic on them to keep dry with towels inside, they all loved the boxes. Go figure. Finally I caught the little ones and took em to vet. Mom was so tired she slept 3 days. I think stress and things. But than she came in and I put trap on floor and its like she gave up. Took her to vet. All were healthy. A woman I know took all of them home and has big barn that's heated next to.her home. They all are happy and together. The dad would come by but he was hard to catch. But 1 yr later I did. Got him adopted too. Feral cats make great pets. They are just timid and scared of humans. Usually for a reason. I find the easiest thing with any animal is to always get down to their level to be small. When you tower over them they are afraid. Cheers to this couple. Great lil home. Love the roof..💛💛💛💛💛💛😇😺
I hope you had them all fixed...
@@jenscheibner792 caught hundreds take em all to vets, get em fixed. Got all adopted.

.... and beautiful people who are so anxious of the wellbeing of the independant cat
Good. Gave 👍. However, with several strays, here researched topic thoroughly. The cats are to have an escape, an opening also in back, from predators. They prefer enclosures with two openings.✌️🙂
@@jinilouise5456didn't know that! Hopefully they see you're comment & correct it.
I didn't used to know that, either. With woods, especially all sorts of creatures.
I was sure he would (eventually) understand that very sweet house was for him. It will protect him from the elements and maintain his freedom. It is perfect. And so are the people who take care of him from a respectful distance. From here on it will only get more interesting.
Cats know who cares about them but they still choose their humans.
Going from "Honey, we're not building him a house" to "Okay, if we're going to build him a house, we're going to do it right" with lightening speed proves that he's a good husband and a good man. He's a keeper.
Thank you for being kind to that beautiful cat
That’s wonderful! Please consider adding straw to the inside for warmth. Don’t use towels or blankets because they can freeze
Clever 😮
Yes, straw. Not hay! Straw will keep them warm, and dry.
I was going to say the same! Straw adds warmth and allows him to avoid drafts from the opening without feeling trapped inside!
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now.
Straw is hollow, and traps air, making it a better insulator.
OMG! I love this story! I appreciate this couple's enthusiasm and ingenuity!

Laughed so hard i snorted
Glad I brought a smile to your face. Have a great day buddy
the dog laying next to the husband while theyre looking outside for the cat to come, was so funny!
Straw (not hay) is the best insulation to use in the winter to line any cat/animal shelter. Never use blankets or towels because they hold moisture. Please consider lining with it. Must put new straw in every winter. Also, any cooler/styrofoam containers are excellent to line and use as shelters. God bless to this couple and any other people helping stray cats. ❤
Fat Billy is a lucky cat…❤❤❤…he’s so cute! So glad you all helped him to stay warm this coming winter and now he has a permanent home!!!
Me thinks you are not the only ones feeding Fat Billy😂
He is mos def a “Six Dinner Sid” (wonderful book)! 😂 I mean, they are calling him Fat Billy so I really don’t think he is actually missing any meals. It is still sweet to build him a warm house. He may end up leaving his other people for them! ❤
It’s a wonderful feeling to help animals in need
You guys should manufacture these houses for other people that don’t want to take the time to build them, but want to provide for stray cats in their yard as well❤
Wonderful !! Straw inside yes but cats like to lie high up and watch the neighbourhood and be safe from other animals. What about a flat roof (sorry) or even a platform or two against the tree. Don't injure the tree please, but even an elevated platform for its house. And what about hanging toys.........só many ideas when you are a cat lover.........haha
most ppl do totes with straw they are quick and cheap to make. made several.
yes, I'd love one of these for the stray living in my yard. But I'd want it modified with a 2nd escape door, though. I've found that all it takes is for a stray to get trapped by a predator one time and then they won't use that shelter again.
Love these little Panthers 😁🐆

What a wonderful handy guy with a big heart!
God bless this thoughtful couple. I think it’s great that they built the homeless cat a nice home. The cat likes it too because he likes to be beside it.😺❤️😺❤️😺 🏠
I have that exact situation! Will you build me one? You should sell those!!
And what I should have included was that the cat houses that you can get online that don’t need electricity are crap! There are great electric ones if you can afford AND have a power source. I need a really warm cat house that doesn’t need electricity that’s not crap. This particular cat somehow survived-20 last year! He was living under my neighbor’s porch but the landscaping people filled it in! And it’s too hard and frozen to dig it back open to help him out. I’ve been here 8 years and he’s been there the whole time. So I don’t really know how long he’s been surviving our cold winters. He IS A TROOPER! I lose sleep at night worrying about him but there’s no way he would ever come close enough. I really want that kid to be warm just once in his life.
I didn't notice a rubber addition on the roof to keep moisture from getting in the house❤
@@lindapester7094 yes I as well. But I do have specific requirements just like that. But… that’s an easy fix to weather proof it. It could always be covered in bad weather. I tried building one out of what I had available to me. It’s a good temporary emergency shelter that’s protected and waterproofed. I always have that out. However it’s not pretty, only practical.
Wonderful, my husband and I bought dog igloos for the outside cats, the mousers is what we call them. What they like and keeps them warm are moss and leaves. All natural ❤
I use straw. Got a 50lb bale for $20 so I have plenty for years to come!
Straw is very warm too and is used by the people who do TNR and help feral colonies
I have built cat shelter out if plastic totes, insulated them with stuff from the meal delivery box and straw. Not nearly as cute, but they work
People use coolers too...

Love it guys. I have 16 rescued cats that I keep in my house and I did some outdoor renovations in my garden to provide safe outdoor day cat playground. Them at night they all come in to sleep. Its helpful that I live in an island in Penang Malaysia where its hot and tropical weather. The cats enjoy outdoor all day long in a safe environment.
I love how the dog is there looking out the window at the cat.
Yay!.....There used be many stray cats in my neighborhood, I live in a college town, and people are moving in and out all the time, and pet cats get abandoned or run away, every week. I made my backyard a safe haven for them to find food and water. I have a lot of all season plants, where the cats can find shelter under. On the coldest winter nights, I let a few sleep indoors, in my mudroom. They can come and go as they please. Once "the word got out",....(cats telling other cats where to go),....there were days when up to 7 cats, came by for a visit. I have strictly indoor cats, living with me. Thanks for building that beautiful cat shelter!
You're a great person. 😊

You could have gone the whole hog, made it a bit bigger and added a water and automatic food dispenser inside that could be filled from the outside. Saves having to keep going out there and when you’re on holiday he’ll always have food. Lovely cat house regardless, I hope to see an update when he becomes a house cat. It took me over 6 months to win mine over but we got there in the end.
You are such good humans to that cat. Now the kitty has a warm place to go and steady food forever. I hope he decides to come inside and be your companion. 🙏👍👍

Even the dog is watching. Such a lovely thing to do. (I just love people who love animals and do these kind of gestures, warms the ❤️🔥)!
That is an awesome and beautiful little house you made for that cat. He is very lucky. I did volunteer cat rescue for over 10 years and I never built shelters that wonderful because the cats I took care of were out in the woods. One comment I would like to make is sometimes the little houses that we build for stray cats need to have an escape entrance as well. That is because in my area there are foxes and coyotes and half bread wild dogs sometimes another animal will peep in there and see the cat and try to eat it meaning the coyote or a fox sometimes raccoons will end up in there.I always keep the food somewhat a bit away from the house so it's not to attract predators at night time. What I did do was I put another door in the back that is more like an escape hatch so if he does get trapped even by a nasty or evil human he can get out so it's mainly something he can push through and then on the outside of that I would put a little piece of thick plastic tarp so that the wind won't go through the front and out the back but if God forbid he had to escape he could push his way out the back and threw the tarp with no problem. Other than there are only being one entrance is a wonderful house. God bless you all for helping him. Dawn from Philadelphia
Came here to say the same thing about escape doors!
