  • Lesson learned: never kinetic pull a vehicle out that is stuck deep in mud. The suction is too much and damage will occur. Use a winch with constant pressure instead. Matt has said this numerous times in his videos! It's always been true!

    • @@jordanwacker7762 Yes, absolutely true, you shouldn't do a "kinetic" pull without an actual kinetic rope, so that's half of their failure. But Matt's been very clear about NOT doing a kinetic pull in these conditions even with the correct gear for the reasons that Joe mentioned. There's just too much suction and you're going to break things. Slow and steady with a winch is MUCH safer.

    • I have moved some very heavy stuff with the simple addition of a gin pole. Instead of trying to pull the thing through the slope a gin pole allows you to pull it upward and away/above the slope. Even the simple addition of a tire rim (so the rope, cable, chain goes up and over) makes a huge difference and is well worth the effort.

    • I was thinking the same. Even with Winches, the Morvair would have been slipping and likely need to be anchored etc, and it would have been a much harder pull out to the road. This was the purpose designed rig Matt envisioned and is now proven, even as it is being further improved and tuned. One improvement I would add right away is a textured mat to the toolbox lid so that if there are riders they are more secure from sliding around on rough roads. Databyter

That's one of the things I really like about your channel is that you're pretty good about explaining what you're doing and why. It's not quite a how-to video but it shows that you have the safety of your crew and the customer's vehicle in mind. Sometimes there's just no good way to do something and you do the best you can with what you have but you always make it as safe as possible. Hats off to you my friend keep it up.

  • Awesome. Definitely put some thought into building the wrecker. Recoveries from now on will be easy and safer. Glade the remote wasn't ruined. It happens, lots of people around and things to think of.

  • Another highly watchable video. Is there anything 'recovery' that powerful wrecker cannot do!? Those Yankum ropes together with a rig that has the stamina to give a steady pull look pretty good for most applications. You already knew getting that jeep full of water out of the 'muddy pond' clearly needed a winch with two power lines to walk it out. Wondering how exactly did one of the previous helpers break the back window?

  • Great video!! If this keeps up Jamie will be the "official" tow truck driver!! LOL!! Need to mount a saddle on the back for Lizzy to ride on! That poor grampa... listening to his grandson... "drive through some water Grandpa".. 🤣 Jefe is so proud of his "new" Bronco... Can't blame him.. that's one sweet ride!! Rhett is a real trooper for doing the "wet work"!! That had to be REALLY COLD!!! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

  • I love the episodes with Rhett now. He used to be so shy and quiet but he has really come out of his shell and is now one of my favorite people to watch on the channel. He's so funny and witty now. Oh, and also loving how easy the wrecker seems to make some of these jobs look. Great work on that build!!!

  • I’m a bit anxious about the people riding on the toolbox while you bounce along on the rough terrain. Yep, the chances of an accident are really small, but the consequences could be terrible. Maybe some kind of seatbelt or harness could be rigged up. Love your videos and the always positive attitudes!

    • maybe just propper seats would be it. but the wrecker isn't bouncing to much anyways.

  • Those are the kinda jobs that'll make Rhett, "The-Man" at this stuff in 10yrs or so, Matt needs to use that capable resource more often,😉👍, and he needs to do the finish work on the wrecker asap, it's proven itself more than worthy of being finished, and adequately-equipped even,🤨, you should've hooked the camper up to the Moorvair, and towed it to solid ground, the guy's truck was already unhooked from it, you took a chance of getting the truck and camper stuck, but luckily it wasn't that bad,👍, thanks for sharing guys.

  • Watching lifted jeeps with mud tires get stuck in some basic mud puddle is a growing youtube pleasure of mine and the fact that it happens so often is just a cherry on top

    @MisterLEM0NS@MisterLEM0NS3 ай бұрын
  • Perhaps you can make a little flip down cushioned jump seat over your shifter controls so a 3rd passenger wouldn't have to "hover"? Based on the amazing job you've done constructing the wrecker (and all the other vehicles), shouldn't be too difficult.

  • This is so not my area of expertise but wouldn't it behoove Matt and team to encourage people to get radios? (GMRS, FRS, CB) The recovery vehicles could have nice antennas to be able to make contacts. Just a thought! Love the videos!

    @robbiemartin5803@robbiemartin5803 Жыл бұрын
    • I don't think there are any GMRS repeaters in that part of Utah For vehicle to vehicle might be useful I guess I would suspect that if you don't have cell coverage you wouldn't expect coverage from a handheld or mobile radio either since the cell towers would be placed on the same mountains as the repeaters

      @dorvinion@dorvinion Жыл бұрын
    • They have 2-way hand-held radios, and they've got units they're supposed to mount in the vehicles, but they haven't gotten around to it yet and/or keep leaving the hand-helds behind.
