    • I tend to think Sekiro is a different genre altogether, which isn’t a bad thing. Soulsborne to me means RPG, where Sekiro is an action game. Both awesome genres but I have a hard time comparing Sekiro to the other Souls games since the basic focus is fundamentally different. Of course Sekiro still has an awesome story and lore but I will always prefer creating my character, trying different armor and weapons, and leveling for a build even if it means grinding, it feels more personal that way. Hopefully one day they’ll find a way to create an RPG that has the same tight combat as Sekiro!

  • I think the Hirata Estate memory is part time travel, part reenactment of a memory. I think a younger Sekiro saved Kuro from Lady Butterfly and was backstabbed by Owl, and saved by Kuro to get the Divine Blood at first. Then, Sekiro as we know him would eventually end up in the Ashina well 3 years later, possibly getting amnesia of the Hirata Estate. It's implied with the petals around Sekiro in the opening that he has already been revived once.

  • Amazing video as always! I think it's funny that Sekiro's "lapse of judgement" kept him from finishing off the Guardian Ape in their first encounter, but I think it's because you're able to fight the Guardian Ape before ever going to Senpou Temple. I do think that that should've been considered on From Soft's behalf, it certainly is a bit odd if you did it the other way around and just not use it here. Just an interesting thought

    • I have played and beaten Hollow Knight. Would you like to explain to me what makes it "Soulslike?" Cause I'm not seeing it. It's closer to a Metroidvania than anything. 2D sidescrolling Soulslikes are games like Salt and Sanctuary. No one has made a good 2D sidescroller Soulslike yet. They all suck so far. AC: Origins and Odyssey are closer to a Soulslike than Hollow Knight is, and they're not Soulslikes, just games with Souls inspired combat revamps.

  • Sekiro's lore is the best of any from soft game. A good, clear story but with extreme depth hidden in environmental storytelling, missable NPCs and dialogue. So many connections between characters that aren't obvious and so much history behind each location that needs to be found on your own and it still has room for speculation.

Or maybe did like Bloodborne where they show an item and it's description so you can get like a sneak peek at some lore while exploring. I die a lot, if elden ring had something like that I'd be a lore expert by now lol. As is tho ik I'm following God's sick light show to steal special shinies from bosses. That's about all I know, and I'm actually really curious as to why so many bosses are dragons and etc.

  • Also don't know if you noticed this but I theories that the black mortal (open gate) blade belong to lady Tomoe and lord Takeru, they didn't reach the inner sanctum (which is also why the red mortal blade is still in possession of the Divine Child of Rejuvenation), however they did find the black scroll (which is why it can be found near where Isshin reside after you got all the ingredients to go to fountainhead palace) and got their hand on the black mortal blade instead, which is also why Genichiro was able to recover it, he was Tomoe pupil! But what bugged me was how did they failed their immortal severance, as Divine Heir (such as Kuro) are still being born, and they did have all the materials needed to reach the Divine Realm, so perhaps the black mortal blade couldn't perform the Immortal Severance? But it comes with an ability unique to the red one which is the ability to bring back those from the beyond

  • Sekiro hadn't obtained sakura droplet from Kuro! We get it from defeating Lady Butterfly. It is already said in description that it's left after unsuccessful bound of the Oath with a Divine Heir - which is not the case with us as we are properly bound with Kuro, but it happens AFTER fight with Lady Butterfly -, and after showing it to Kuro he says that it belonged to Takeru! Which implies that somebody tried obtaining immortality through unwillingly bounding Takeru with a new servant. And because it had been unwillingly made it was an unsuccessful try, 'cause it seems that the point of the Oath is that a Divine Heir must be willing to do so (based on that Sekiro was practically unconscious when Kuro bound him with Oath and on that Genichiro never forced Kuro, but he had all the opportunities and willingness for it as he said that he would even leave his humanity behind for achieving his goals)

  • As much as I love Dark souls 1, Bloodborne, and now Elden Ring (and I stared souls games with Demon's and played them all), I know that the main Souls was inspired heavily by Berserk. Which is one of the greatest mangas. But hear me out. I don't know if it's inspired by, but Sekiro has many parallels to Blade of The Immortal. My favorite manga, so my opinion might be biased, but that's just my opinion. Sekiro, although super linear, but I think a bit harder due to no cheatsie builds and co op, it's why it's my favorite From game. You have to rely on YOUR skill and nobody else. In Blade of The Immortal, the protagonist and main antagonists depended heavily on that belief. Your own skill. Kuro is the equivalent of Rin, but the bosses take a major turn. As if you read that manga, you'll be like "ok" I'm not saying it's directly inspired, but there do have similar things at some point. I would recommend reading it. If you would be inclined to and see if there are are the similarities between them. Cause souls have been lauded as Berserk inspired. Bloodborne by H.p. Lovecraft (and I'll add The Sherlock Holmes novel The Hound of The Baskervilles). But read Blade of The Immortal and see if you see if you find a parallel. There's some. But I think it was influenced by that that manga. It's not a legit theory, just mine. No spoilers for the manga Edit sorry for the long comment Edit 2: there's alot or Bloodborne atmosphere in the Sherlock Holmes novel Hound of The Baskervilles. It's only a couple of hundred pages.
