  • I think comparing yourself to others is a wrong way of thinking; I've done it myself most of my life and I'm trying to learn to stop. Now seeing somebody's success and being proud of them and using it as a driving force to improve yourself is totally different. Jocko thank you for reminding me of this

  • I’m 60 years old, my IQ was tested at 10 and again at 16, I scored 130 and 132 respectively. I thought this meant I was smarter than most and lived my life that way for many years and you know what happened, I became a loser, I’m still a loser. IQ represents your ability to learn at a little higher level, but only if you apply yourself and work hard, I did neither. I’ve read Extreme Ownership, and I own the fact that I’m a loser, I’m not proud of it but it is unmistakable. I’ve read Discipline=Freedom, it didn’t take, I struggle everyday to be more disciplined. Have I gotten better, maybe, it’s hard for me to gauge at this point, I hope so. I’m a decent father to my almost 18 year old son, his work ethic and determination inspire me, he is everything I’m not. He’s much smarter and better than I am, thank God! I’m jealous of no one and celebrate my family and friends accomplishments. I used to blame the early testing, I thought I would be successful because it said I was able to learn difficult things, but if not applied correctly it means nothing. I’m a loser, Good, it’s never too late for change. God Bless all!

    @klmorg63@klmorg6312 күн бұрын
    • Sir. In my opinion, based on your brief above, is that you are in fact NOT a loser. You've managed to raise a son, which is no easy task. I congratulate you. I ask you, to no longer speak of yourself as a loser. this can not be good. It is " I think - therefore I am" Think something more positive of yourself. Find it. Anything. I am sure you have done at more great things other than raise a son with good principles. Success does not have to be based on wealth and possessions. Success for some is just being able to walk, or run again. God bless to you, mate.

    • @@mayceblack2563 I appreciate your encouragement, I am not saying I haven’t done some things I am proud/grateful for. When I was 8 I saved my 2 year old sister from drowning in a lake, it’s a foggy memory but my Mother, Grandmother and Grandfather witnessed it, my sister has gone on to receive a double masters degree and has two daughters who have each had 4 and 3 children each, I suppose I’m directly responsible for 11, counting my son as well, souls being on the Earth that would not be here had I not saved her. It’s still a hard thing to understand 52 years later. I don’t say that to be some kind of hero, it was my baby sister and an action based on instinct and love as best I can conclude. It’s probably more accurate to say in my own mind I’m a loser because I haven’t lived up to my expectations for myself. I’ve helped some other people along the way, but rarely myself. I am a great believer in God and complete honesty especially when viewing myself, so maybe my point is unclear and sounds stupid, but loser does seem to fit. I love myself and every soul, the humans not so much lol, but each soul is pure some are just not connected to it, I feel very connected to my soul. I must judge myself as I see it and that’s how I see it, I may/hope I’m wrong, but I wish I could see it differently. Cheers mate!

If I am not then I compare and I start to begrudge another’s good tidings. I am fearfully contemplating what you get that I won’t. I have done this and it’s only as I have become more assured that I embrace another’s success. Thus, increasing my chances for good things to happen in my life.

  • I can see why Jocko can rub other vets the wrong way. He's very successful, his confidence is off the charts, and his motivation level is super human. Vets are just regular people, with all kinds of personalities. A lot of SOF guys are very different from Jocko. Most of the ones I've met are very humble and unassuming. I've met guys who did crazy things during their service and to me they just came off as a typical "Dad." I think Jocko's personality can be grating to some. A lot truly believe in the old "quiet professional" lifestyle. They did their thing and don't want to talk about it. They want to grow their hair and beard out, ride their motorcycle, and live their post-military life away from military rules and Jocko type personalities.

  • They are not talking about a new car. It is about women, perhaps - over a women. Fine if there is resolution. Yet sometimes the fish is on the hook and they play - not good to play with emotion. What happened to Twain and Teddy? It is not about the other person's or peoples success. This we should rejoice in - if they are happy and well paired. Nor is it sad, what we may have missed, if our decisions are for the right reasons. We get up to bat and can strike out, go down swinging, or take a walk, there is also the chance to get a hit - ( run ) - this is the game. We may get another chance at bat, you never know. I learned in my life from auto accidents - Steel is cheap - it is the human factor our flesh our selves, children in the car, our friends - riding with us - the people take a beating and carry the scars forever - or yes we might catch a wave - be happy when that happens. Don't worry about the car or house - it really is hard to live with mistakes of the heart - especially when unknowingly hurt others, have the jealousy or missed our queue. Time flows in one directions. We live with our decisions - make the best ones we can - given the situation. I would rather have pain and honesty than false hope. That is just me. I make lots of mistakes especially with the women in my life. When we are gifted in one way or another we are sometimes kind of ignorant in others - could be just me but I doubt it - the realm of the human heart is ( all over the map) sometimes challenging. Mark Twain said "I gave my Mother a hard time, but she loved it" Roosevelt - idk "He charged San Juan Hill" No guts no glory. I trust God - if it was meant to be it will come to pass. It takes two to build a strong relationship - if it is them then good, if it is us then even better. If not then there must be more to it then I will ever know, sad - being 65 years old and back in Junior High School. Everything changed when I witnessed about, kittens giving birth in a box in the closet. Innocence lost ...

  • When feeling jelous, one should think of how they can improve themselves and not try to trip the one they are jelous with, and if possible you can approach them and get some tips or techniques on how they do it. Then you take that, learn from it, then implement it. Competitiveness is ok as it drives one to do better, but jealousy should be kept and swallowed. Now If it's material objects, prioritize your savings and plans, before luxury items. It's ok to spend on something you like, but do consider if it will affect your saving or plans.

  • Does giving praise for unearned rewards do harm? I suspect it does not lead to posive results in most cases. Or is this about not being inclined toward a negative reaction if anyone gets some thing deserved or not? Sort of a warning about making jealousy your default setting? Although I can think of times I have seen it, being unnecessarily negative about positive results for others seems like it would be negative for all involved unless other mitigating factors were present. If somone earned something legitimately, being jealous just shows a profound lack of character in my opinion. It doesn't really cost you anything to congratulate someone for a job well done if they actually did one, and to be jealous of one's friends just seems odd and counterproductive. If you desire something work for it diligently and as I beleive Jordan Peterson asserts, if you make the proper sacrifice you will likely gain what you seek. But I suppose I may be overthinking things.

  • Sad how jackoo be resorting to high school drama of " they're just jealous" Instead of being accountable and bringing his accuser on his show and setting the issue straight. His accuser insists they talk about it. Jacko keeps avoiding it and passive aggressively hinting who it is.

  • In Islam, the story goes Cain’s sacrifice was of poor quality that he intentionally chosen to give God, but Abel chose nicest of his produce for God. Also, Abel was assigned to marry Cain’s female twin which Cain perceive to be prettier than Abel’s female twin which was married to him. So Cain’s jealousy is actually of his own doing. Definitely a simple but really significant lesson for envious people to learn, but they will never. They got that inherently evil Cain genes in them. 😂
