  • When I walked away from a truly dysfunctional marriage after 30 years, the rumors, lies, and gossip became more than I could stand, especially when it was repeated by my grandchildren. I was told, "Let it go, don't speak about it, don't address it." Well, fu*k that and fu*k them. I addressed it, said my peace, and so much of the pain I was feeling was gone. I was finally able to really let go, threw my wedding rings in the river. I won't pass on that bad juju to anyone! Now, all of my plans are done in secret. No one knows what I'm doing or what my next move is. It's better that way. It's always good to keep them guessing, that way you take your losses in private and you get to decide who shares in your wins. Life moves quickly and takes turns we never expect. It's always up to us to decide how we move and who moves with us. Thanks Jocko for the great words of wisdom!

  • Talkers are my pet peeve. I can't stand it. One of the main reasons I can't stand it is: I used to be one of those talkers. I was talking about what I was going to do and I wasn't doing anything about it. Luckily, that finally changed.

    • This made me smile. I'm working on my weight doing low carb with intermittent prolonged fasting. The fasting is easy but I've learned that it's better to keep silent about the fact that you're fasting. The concern from everyone around you that you're somehow damaging yourself instead of healing yourself becomes oppressive. The longest I've gone so far is 10 days but I'm working towards 30 days. Down 75 pounds in 5 months! God bless!

  • Great talk! This point got driven into my mind when I took the Landmark Education course. It was all about staying in integrity by doing what you say you are going to do. That was a game changer for me. Since then I have made sure that whatever I commit myself to, I follow through with it. Biggest pet peeve is listening to people who talk a big talk while under the influence of alcohol. It’s basically bullshit talking. Another thing, one of the main tenets of Buddhism is that the mind lies to itself. Just knowing that can bring greater self awareness to what we say and our intentions behind it.

  • I've been doing low carb with intermittent prolonged fasting to get healthier. The results have been fantastic and everyone wants to know how I'm dropping so much weight. Once I explain that I sometimes go 7 or 10 days without eating, everyone comes up with some "medical condition" that prevents them from joining me. 😂😂 I'm not going to lie... Those first three or four days when you transition to low carb are HARD. I love pizza and bread and pasta and all of the carby things. However, once you get yourself over that wall, eating is just a choice. Your entire body is primed for hunting food. You're mentally sharp... all the inflammation, aches, and pains are gone... energy is off the charts... And you just feel good. YMMV but I think everyone should experience the freedom that comes from not being a slave to your appetite. Best of health to you all.

  • the consequence is exposing your dreams to people who don't believe in them, or not doing something that you really want to do regardless of whether other people care if you do it or not.

    @careforyouhealing@careforyouhealing24 күн бұрын
    • honestly I think it is that exposure that causes people not to do things they say they want to do or are going to do, more often than not. you are excited about a dream, you tell the people closest to you, and they brush it off like it's nothing? that could really hurt, make you feel unsupported and question if it's actually worth it. Will you be able to do it anyway? That is a test - is it a purposeful dream or one that you were doing for clout? Also...why would someone be impressed by what someone says they are going to do? they haven't done it yet.

  • Jocko, you had a guest on the mat for jujitsu, a vet without most of his limbs. He was pretty awesome and a real inspiration! I am still recovering from my replacement ankle surgery, walking is only starting to be pain-free and not for long. But if he can kick ass on the mat and adapt his technique I can adapt mine. There is a local sprint triathlon in August and I want to do it. I can do the swim now, and I will be able to bike the hills by then. I will either walk the 5k, or I will withdraw if I feel like I am overdoing it for my ankle and getting into the “recovery setback” territory.” That’s my way of adapting. Having a “normal” training goal is as exhilarating as when I could cross the parking lot into the gym without a cane for the first time! Is it a scary goal? Heck yeah, at this stage of my life it is. Stagnating is scarier, though. About sharing and not doing, yeah, I am often guilty of that. But I am sharing this, because the support I get from family and friends helps me recover. Some are reminding me not to overdo it (I had in the past,) and that is useful. The stakes here are higher than just looking good for doing a race. It’s functional recovery of my mobility, it’s a metric to see what can I do in my new state, and it’s a means of battling depression. And depression has been a wicked side-effect of suddenly having become “differently abled.” I would like to thank your brother at arms for being an awesome example. Whay you say about talking vs doing holds for me in most cases, but some goals and situations are different.

I am now hesitant to read your book. “Say it ain’t so, Joe.” I think you need to address these accusations head on, like a leader should. I really hope that these are embellishments, and am awaiting your response sir. I will withhold judgement, as I recommend all should do, until we hear your side of the story. Even iif a person says they are going to do something and never do it, it has risk not only from what the people around them now think (credit wise) but it also corrupts that person's integrity. So disagree, talking can be dangerous.

    @JohnDoe-zz7on@JohnDoe-zz7on26 күн бұрын
  • This is a lot of talking around it instead of just getting to it. The best thing about the truth is that you can just tell it, say it with your whole chest, and stand on it. No one needs this many examples to lead into their point, especially something as simple as saying that people lie. That is unless you want to bury it under a ton of useless and disjointed language in an attempt to control the audience ahead of your point. One way or another, the truth is coming out. Anything less than accountability will just make it worse. That's in personal life and in business. No one likes a liar. Lastly, you're literally talking about it. The subject is about being one or the other, not both. You've made a deliberate point made to say so. Don't say things just to say things and/or because it sounds cool.

Bub, i believe i took up for yous todays.... you don't have to explain anything to me in detail about it in person or not... your probably not allowed to talk about certain things about youve done and thats completly understandable... with an open mind and Unbiased opinion i gave my comment/opinion on this video on here on youtube titled "Jocko Was A RECKLESS Seal That Lost LIVES in Combat?!", This is what i Responded back with after watching that said "video".... Hopefully i done you a favor as busy as yous probably are and gave them something to shut up and think about while also eliminating any kind of "waisted", effort to want to respond back even if you thought about it bubby big dawg! This is my Response though "This is just a shot in the dark of a guess..... if its what i think it is... i wouldnt want to know anymore details cause of myself in general not having "clearance", to such classified information.... i tell yee i tell ye, war is a nasty terrible business and there's always violence,clashes, & blood spilt regardless at the end of the day.... this is just an example though.... let's say im a navy seal and i just killed this random village local that was raking leaves and rocks cause he needed to get rid of anyways and the rest of the locals says he's a thief & a child molester ect. ( all of these intensions are kept classified btw) which always gives window of opportunity for local militia's to retaliate against whoever else cause the "one's", in that Branch & Rank ARE NOT PLAYING THEIR ROLE and are fuckin' up & could cause others get killed too if their behavior, Intensions, & actions doesnt change??? you low-key give a reason for the local militia to get pissed tf off or "act", like they are cause that guy jus got killed speaks same as them too and retaliates back to them particular guys so they can actually perform and go to work when low-key truthfully its a test too see who's causing problems and who's fuckin' up if not enough as well too that they could get others killed by their behavior & intensions as well.... their gonna be the first to "go", if an Ambush/Fire-fight Instantly Broke Out.. Especially, if their not paying attention doing their job... thee unfortunate part is that you can't guide an enemy's bullet even into a fellow soldier beside you causing too much problems that they just doesnt need to be there at all... all you can do is hope and pray it does and not on someone who deserves it.....(Unless you Figured Out a method to Low-Key Mark them without them knowing so enemy's returning/Incoming fire can be more Directed @ them specifically Stationed by themselves or with another thats gon' get it too and wayy less on the one's that don't deserve it who also doesnt even now thats going on and he'sjust tryna fight back and also help not only himself but entire rest of his team from getting killed is the saddest part tbh... no wonder why jock hasnt responded back on any of this.... i wouldn't either classified or not... be alot more violent of a world if we all could read each others minds lol probably a good thing we can't do that as humans tbh *Not Bruce Lee's Grandbub Here*

And to find out he was part of planning bad missions that shoulda never took place and caused good men we need Now to die, thats unexcusable.. I enjoy all the podcasts and have no issue with the man but I do find those accusations alarming as an ex service man myself. It will likely come to a point where there will be an explanation but I will wait until some evidence is produced by either party to make any decision and maybe it just goes away and at that point I would consider it cleared up and false
