Pele was given the greatest footballer of the *20th century* by FIFA. They gave the GOAT to Messi. Many other top players and managers said Messi is The GOAT.
@@FabianoVo I was 9yrs when Brazil with Pele won the WC and thought Pele was the GOAT. Then Maradona came along when I was in my mind 20's until I saw the real GOAT Messi. Put Messi in his mid 20' up against those teams of the 50's and 60's that Pele played against and his average goals scored would be doubled. Many of the top players and managers of today have said of Messi being the GOAT.
Messy would have more difficulties playing in the 60s. I love Messy as a player! He is also a greta human being. But I saw Pelé play. Since I was a kid, I was impressed by several footballers. I've seen Zico, Garrincha, Eusebio, Tostão, Beckenbauer, Maradona, Romario and Ronaldo Phenom. In the last decade I saw Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo play on TV. None of them did as a youth what Pele did. All of these were exceptional, and some like Ronaldinho and Maradona produced magic on the field. However, no player to date has been as complete as Pelé. Pelé changed football forever. Check the statements from former stars who faced him. Right here on KZhead, there are dozens of statements from former English, Italian, Spanish and South American players placing him as a unique being. There are even Argentine players, who declare it impossible to put Messi or Maradona on the same level as Pelé. Pelé left people speechless with new moves, with masterful touches, and even better, with genius non-touches almost every time he entered the pitch. Just see Pelé playing at just 17 years old in a world cup away from his country. Check his 1958 WC performance against Wales. watch the video of the Welsh player who was dribbled talking about that move.

Rest In Paradise Pele, your legacy will live forever
I had always thought George Best was the best player in the world. After I had the fortune to witness Pepe’s greatness during a friendly game played by Santos against Newcastle on June 4, 1972 in Hong Kong. Newcastle led 2-1 in the first half but Pele scored 3 fantastic goals in the second half to win the game. One of the goals was the est goal I have ever seen. Pele received the ball in the midfield from a overhead pass,he ran toward Newcastle’s goal touching the ball 7 times by his head, chest, thigh and feet while he ran passed 3 players and the ball never touched the ground and scored with a volley. He was like a magician performing acrobatics in full speed. The was a movie that came out and replayed that play7 times. I kept going back to the theater to watch that play. I wish somebody had that movie or video to show Pele’s skills. He truly is the king and the best.
Friendly matches are exactly what they are, just like a training session. Pele would never be able to do that against today's Newcastle.
@@mikehunter2844 He would do it BETTER. He was already that good playing under those terrible conditions (terrible pitches, heavy leather ball that felt like a rock when you kicked it, etc), imagine if he played today. ..lol. Some people say Pele played in an inferior league in Brazil. Then answer this question. How come Santos regularly thrashed the European champions throughout the 1960s when playing for the World Club Cup ? It is the same as people saying that the German league in the 60s-late 80s was inferior and yet Germany appeared in 66, 74, 82,86,90 finals. The fact that one does not see blanket coverage of a country's league does not necessarily make it inferior. England's league was always stated as the best and look at their dismal world cup record after 1966.
The Brazilian league just don't have the international cache as the Euro leagues does, mainly because of the language barrier. If they Broadcasted those games in English their league would draw more eyes.
In fact he never beat 6 defenders and scoring a goal never the less single handily winning the world cup with a weak team #Maradona.
@@leelukhele2112 Maradona has never scored a goal like Pelé did against Sweeden in final in 58 with 17, by the way, nobody did. 1962 Pelé scored a goal against Mexico that he beated all Mexican defense. The GOAT. Messi, Cr7, Maradona and many others had written their names in history as the greatests of all time, but none of them are better than this guy, not only about the childish game of "count the world cups they have". Pele managed to hit 60 years earlier (in much harder conditions and with a fraction of the support players have nowadays) the level where the great players dream to reach. He and his team won everything from the absolute nothing that Brazil was before 1958. RIP King, you did a great job, man. A proud nation thanks your efforts.

I am lucky to have seen him as we welcomed him & his team into Nyali beach hotel in the 70s. May God who blessed him with special gift in football rest his soul in eternal peace, amen.
Before Maradona, as kids we all wanted to play like Pele. He was legendary
Even when Maradona was in his prime, we wanted to be Pele.
He is legendary.
The first GOAT!
Pele transcended football. His talent and influence are a gift from God and so is his name Pele, which in ancient Hebrew means, wonderful. He has the character to represent the world of football and more. The standard by which all great players will be judged.
There is another documentary called Pele on Netflix, if you guys have a chance to watch it, go watch it, you will see why he is considered the greatest. By the way, a lot of moves new players are doing now, he had already done them, not to mention his vision at the game, that allowed him to provide so many assists to other players, especially in the 1970 FIFA WC. In any sports, there will always be who is the greatest because of politics and national pride. When it comes to Pele, if you really are objective, you can see why he is The GREATEST. Maradona was great, but there is * next to his performance in the 1986 World Cup because of the goal scored with his hand. Pele would have never done something like that. He was too much of an honest man.
Not just 'ancient' - modern Hebrew as well.

The real and unbeatable GOAT
Thank you Emerson Inacio. I am African and I know the racism around the World when it comes to sports. Pele is King of soccer or football by a mile to any competition. He's the GOAT. They are at least 5 Brazilian players who will follow up, including the Argentine, Maradona, but non of them are close to Pele. Messi is not in the picture. This is Mess's 5th World cup appearance and he won by penalties, which I don't think should be used to decide big tonamenents like the World cup. They should play again the following week end if no one clearly wins after overtime. That is my opinion. Messi had a great supporting cast for all the previous 4 World cups he appeared on, but he could not lead them to victory. Give that same group of players to Cristiano Ronaldo, and he would have taken 2 World cups to Portugal. I would not pay 1 dollars for a Messi jersey. THANKS
@@BueaBuea You're so wrong. Messi is the undisputed GOAT. Before the WC Fourfourtwo put Messi first.
@Elizabeth Csicsery-Ronay You can lie to yourself all day and all year. Your white media has been doing this kind of biased reporting since the beginning of time, but this time, the World knows who the God of football is. Pele, Pele, Pele. Maradona was dar better than Messi and Messi himself accepts that. I have seen the interview. We are not in the times when the information market was still based on your European newspapers telling the World what they had formulated as news. The tapes are there for everyone to see and we all have smart phones to download the tapes. Shame to you. Pele won 3 World cups. They are many Brazilian players far better than Messi. RC-7 is better than Messi. The football World, knows Messi is far behind many black players. Just like Adolf Hitler refused Jesse Owen's wins in the 1936 Olympic games and said America had brought a slave to run for them; it's the same mentality all of you saying Messi is the GOAT have. Pure nonsense. Mbappe is far better than Messi. He has 3 more World cups to play in and I bet you; he will win at least one of those World cups. This same mentality happens in other aspects of life were Europeans or people who have been so brainwashed to look at everything European as better, always want to favor only what is pushed by the European press without even looking at the evidence. Look at Ronaldinho's tapes and compare them to Messi. He won his 1st World cup and was instrumental in a 2nd World cup. The same mentality says the Chinese are stealing everything they do from the West. Sad. If the West continues this falsehood, they may end up like Nazi Germany did. Mohammed Ali was always shouting that he was the best because your white media was pushing the idea that, Rocky Maciano who was a boxing champion in the 20s or 30s was the best. Give me a break.
