What Did I Find in Byblos, Lebanon? 🇱🇧

Byblos, Lebanon ➖ After taking a few days off vlogging due to busting my knee paragliding, it was time to explore the new city @worldnomac and I had reached, Byblos.
We started off the morning eating one of Lebanon's most famous foods known as Knafeh and let me tell you it is a gateway to diabetes. The amount of calories and juicy goodness in this meal is bound to add even more weight to my belly, which already is increasing rapidly here in Lebanon.
It was then time to head to Byblos Citadel, a castle that was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century. After finishing up there, we ran into a guy that wanted to show us his hyper-realistic art museum and it was one of the craziest things I've witnessed. Celebrities and high profile figures staring right at you and looking deep into your soul as you walk around aimlessly.
A quick visit to the local shawarma shop for delicious beef shawarma and it was the perfect fix to refuel after walking around Byblos for the day.

@@LukeDamant even though the people are suffering from inflation still they have the smile on thier face ❤
Unfortunately, the vidéo don't me give me the désire to go to Lebanon on this day... too difficult with the money, électricity, to move between cities...
@@LukeDamant if you're still in Lebanon try to visit Qadisha Valley , Harissa , Saint charbel monastery , saint Rafka monastery , Jeita cave ..
Prayers for Lebanon. The country is going through a tough time 🇱🇧
Shukrya yaar
May Allah bless to Lebanon
Same
So is yours lol
Lebanon can easily be mistaken for a beaitiful country somewhere in Europe. The ambiance, the people. Wowwwww. Im amazed. Hope I can visit someday.
Youll regret visiting
Really ? Not if you are a tourist
No it does not. it looks like a beautiful country in the middle east. Are you trying to say you can't possibly fathom middle-eastern countries having good "ambience" and good people. Only Europe can have beautiful countries? don't be sily
Wow, Lebanon and its people are truly beautiful. I never ever would have imagined it would be like this.
I falling in love with lebanon... 🥀🥀 Love from Pakistan🇵🇰. 🥀❤️
@Boogie boogie yeah bro inshallah

Correct me if im wrong, the food in Middle East area is probably the BEST
Yes
Depends on your taste buds. I'm Indian and we are used to spice, so we mostly are not into Sweet stuff
Can’t tell. He only ordered four or five different common foods which I can easily get here in the US.
Beautiful! I went there as a kid and I miss it! As a Lebanese I NEED to tell you Lebanon is very underrated and to me the very best country in the world.

I lived in brooklyn, and I ALWAYS went to a Lebanese restaurant to get "BABA GANOOSH", which was abolustley delicious. Oh and the people were so so friendly. Lebanon is definatel the most european asian country, with that french and arab mixture which was so exotic and lovely. loving how carefree you guys are.!...thanks for your video.
It’s baba ghanouj heheheh
Oh my gosh this city is so interesting. I wish there I could there now to make my 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗟𝗼𝗴𝘀 The type of "light" these people show amongst themselves. And have on their faces with you there... Just so adorable and happy. Emma from London
You're most welcome
I wish you had visited the old port which, so the legend goes, spread the Alphabet to the rest of the world. A boat trip would have beeb awesome too. Cool video Luke! Thank you for sharing your experience and for spreading the word about poor little Lebanon.
Luke I’m in a wheelchair but traveled often when I was younger! I watch your videos religiously! You are a wonder … take care of yourself we need you!
How wonderful to wake up to a new video ... and a mere 45 secs into it, my first smile when you reacted to Mac: "you're waving to somebody?". Enjoyed the videos from Jounieh (like the Rio and HK vibes, glad you survived the crash take off and so proud that you were undeterred to try again right away despite the PTSD). I also commented earlier that I like that you sometimes had a short preview in the beginning (for the haircut video), or just get right into the action like in this one. Great job and keep posting, Luke! Syukran from California ...
Thanks pablo! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos 😀 yeah sometimes I like to give a little sneak peak, others it’s time to get straight into the action!
Glad to see your knee allows you more freedom to do whatever you like! Take care and stay safe! Byblos looks like a really neat city to visit there!
Lebanon is stunning. I was there about eight years ago, people were so welcoming and friendly, and their food is succulent. It was a revelation for a Norwegian like myself. The ancient history of Lebanon is fascinating known as ancient Phoenicia, the land where the Alphabet was invented and the birthplace of Europe, born in beautiful Tyre, a very ancient city like Byblos.
As a lebanese I recomend you go visit these places first jabal moussa reserve and chouwan lake second a cedar reserve either the cedars of god or Barouk cedar reserve third the jeita grotto and fourth the baalbek ruins
I second that for sure!
@Sabir Moussa is an Arabic/Semitic name with ancient origins, so you’ll find it on many landmarks and features around the Arab world. Just like identical city/town names can be found in multiple countries, area names aren’t trademarked.
Ladies at the bakery are so sweet, God bless them
If u understand arabic , u will change ur opinion
@@dyffgdfsfur3406 why what did you hear? I speak a bit of Arabic but did catch them saying anything negative.

Luke, you and Mac are the best of the best! I'm glad I found you. Your hair looks better in this video. I saw a video in India and you had wings like the Flying Nun!
Hi Luke. Keep up the interesting vlogs. Love the content. Thanks from NZ. Kia kaha.
No one “lived”in that castle lol,in fact It was built by the crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. The finished structure was surrounded by a moat. It belonged to the Genoese Embriaco family, whose members were the Lords from 1100 to the late 13th century. Saladin captured the town and castle in 1188 and partially dismantled the walls in 1190. Later, the Crusaders recaptured Byblos and rebuilt the fortifications of the castle in 1197. In 1369, the castle had to fend off an attack from Cypriot vessels from Famagusta. Also the castle has distinguished historical buildings for neighbors. Nearby stand a few Egyptian temples, the Phoenician royal necropolis and the Roman amphitheatre.
I'm almost crying here...love Byblos/Jebeil so much 😍
You make me so happy ☺️i really miss my home country . I would recommend you to visit south too ( tyr , Nakoura , Saida ..) and the moutain 👍🏻
I just want to thank you and Mac for showing the great side of Lebanon💪💪 If you ever come back to visit I recommend the chicken shawarma you'll love it too.
Very glad to hear that u loved spending time in Lebanon, in your next visit let me know I will take you to new places with good food
Awesome video luke❤❤ Lots of love from india❤ Kerala💜✨️ I enjoyed your video
Dude the castle you went to visit is not a place where regular people used to live. Lol. This castle is several thousands years old and was at some point inhabited by the crusaders. The openings in the walls were for the archers to fire their arrows from.
Good content buddy .. keep it up......I like your video 📷
Omg that looks soo good and making me so so hungry all that cheese I love cheese so much 😋

Thankyou! Yeah I absolutely plan on visiting one day. I think it’s closed to tourists at the moment, but I really want to visit. So much to see there!
I adore your videos !!
Luke is an inspiration to the millennials. Traveling around the world makes one more intelligent and compassionate. Makes you more aware of the truth that there are more incredible people and amazing culture, apart from your home. And when you are very old seated in your rocking chair, you can reminisce about how you live tremendously with no regrets. Luke the Walker and Traveler 💪😎
Is he Millennial or Gen Z?
The pink pickles are Turnip pickles.. these are used for falafel wraps mainly. Also when it comes to shawarma sauces are different: For chicken they use the garlic sauce which is known as Aioli sauce in foreign countries. For meat shawarma they use Tarator which is tahini sauce with lemon and maybe a little bit of garlic mixed all together also the parsley they add for meat shawarma is not taboule.. taboule is a salad thus chopped parsley+ onion + sumac are the veggies they add to meat shawarma and ofc tomatoes
Taboule 😂 i laughed when he said that so cute
ALIYAA...❤️

Luke aliyaaaa❤️✨🇮🇳
I keep seeing this comment. What does aliya mean? I only know it as an Arabic name.
@@84techro32 aliya means bro
@@84techro32 it's malayalam
@@irfannavas5638 oh ok. Thanks aliya.
The white sauce in the beef shawarma is called tarator, its practically tahini mixed with lemon juice, water and salt! The green herb is just parsley with Sumac, Tabouleh is something else! You need parsley, tomatoes, cucumbers, radish, onions, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and bulgur to prepare tabouleh☺️ Love from Dublin 🇮🇪🇱🇧
😂 Taboule in shawerma
Lebanese tabouleh contains no cucumbers.
That's not Taboulleh. Taboulleh is half parsley super finely chopped, and then the rest of the salad ingredients are a mix of mint, green onions, tomatoes, and burghul. Then you add salt, lemon juice and lots of good quality olive oil. You can eat it with lettuce by using it as a spoon to scoop it.
It is a Crusaders Citadel, the Phoenician ruins of thousands of years old are lying around the Citadel. The latest excavation of the area have went back 12000 years so far
And that zaatar you had with the manoushe is a combination of sesame seeds and herbs
The kenafehs are the best!!! To have the kenefah with syrup and without the bread is the usual way.
Cheers mate.
I think you know...!! All kerala guys loving you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
