I wanted to make a climbing net for a child's playground. After researching some knots and an eBay purchase of soft rope, here's how I went about it.

  • This was very well structured and the step by step set up was extremely easy for me to understand. Thank you very much. 👍🏻

  • At first, I thought this was a stupid idea, but you convinced me. Selfmade with the desired qualities and properties: size, elasticity, material. Just buy the rope and make it in the size you need. One could search for weeks in the shops around to find what one wants. Well done. You encouraged me to reengage in DIY ... Thx a lot!

  • Thank you for the instructions! Especially feeding the ropes through each other. Custom-sized net, 50x90cm (6x12 ropes; bought 30m rope overall), made by complete novice in 1 1/2 hours :) came out quite symmetrical, even though I made it on the living room floor and not in such a cool workshop as you have. Good to keep in mind that the knots take up a LOT of rope length.

  • Best tutorial out there. Clear and precise. Only missing the instructions of how to calculate the amount of rope to buy, but it can be figure out. Thank you!

    • my best bet would be to tie a knot, mark it when it starts and ends, unravel the knot and measure the length of rope between both markings ;)

Ah, and I see in your video library you like steampunk too, I reckon I'll be sticking around for quite a while ;) If you haven't heard of the web "comic" (really more of a graphic novel in my mind) " girl genius " you might enjoy it.

  • How would you do the finish loops if you didn't have or used any wire?

    @76irodriguez@76irodriguez2 жыл бұрын
    • Leave enough length and use an eye splice. I didn't leave enough, so that's why I resorted to the wire!

      @OfftheGridMakes@OfftheGridMakes2 жыл бұрын
  • Well done video however, why not splice the ends as it's stronger?

    @colutuber@colutuber2 жыл бұрын
    • I didn't quite leave enough rope to do the splicing so I had to improvise!

      @OfftheGridMakes@OfftheGridMakes2 жыл бұрын
  • rather than the end clamps an eye splice would be easier, if you use the metal clamps then it should have a binding over it

  • Great tutorial for the cargo netting, but its a really stupid solution to tie a hitch on the end of your ropes ends with a wire. Overengineered and slow, just tie a knot on the end geez louise

  • Sorry but I think there is a serious risk of strangulatio or hanging with a small child whose head can go through the mesh.

    @executivedysfunction@executivedysfunction2 жыл бұрын
    • Valid concern, personally Id just make the mesh small enough to prevent that.
