BMW HIDDEN FEATURES/FUNCTIONS (E90,E91,E92,E93)
These are some BMW e90 Secret features that not everyone knows about and felt like making a video on. I did not know half the stuff I knew getting into making this video. You can learn a lot about your car if you just sit down and mess with it. Now I love my car even more :)

My favorite hidden feature is the little stick/column on the left side of the steering wheel. It's actually this nifty thing that allows other drivers to know when you want to turn
Ryan Ristau never herd of it!
😂😂😂😂
that might come as shock to all bmw owners
I can see the stick but when I'm driving it vanishes. Can you do an instructional video on this secret hidden feature?
What stick?😂😂😂
The rear view mirror in your car is self dimming using electro-chromatic technology. There is a sensor in the mirror toward the front of the car, you can see a window that covers it, that detects whether it’s light out or not. A second sensor is behind the mirror glass pointing toward the rear of the vehicle to detect headlights behind you. If the front sensor detects night time, and the rear sensor detects headlight glare, it automatically dims the mirror to an optimum level. You can check the system during the day by putting your finger over the front facing sensor and shining a flashlight at the top center of the mirror. It will gradually go dark. The ones that have a turning clown nose are prism mirror that have two reflective surfaces. I hope I’m not repeating something. But I scrolled thru most of the comments to check. Take care and thanks for sharing.
You forgot one of the hidden features that I use during the summer time when it's really hot. If you hold down the unlock button on your remote for about 10 to 15 seconds all the windows will roll down and then your moonroof. Great for airing the car out quickly on a hot day.
Use this every day
Just how does it work is it any adjustments that you have to make any to settings
Just unlocked your doors then hold the unlock botton on your keyfob. After a given amount of time it will start to roll down the windows starting with the front and then the back and finally the sunroof if you have one.
I love this feature. Double hit the unlock button and hold it down! If you have the fold in mirrors, those will fold back out too. Its like wstching a flower open up
And if your from a European country hold the lock button and they roll back up
Bro look at how far you’ve came in 3 year !!!! Super proud of you no lie , keep killing it. +1 sub ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
Great video man!!! I love finding hidden features in cars. Please do a part two if you find some more cool stuff. Really like your channel.
thanks man means a lot to hear that. Ill do a part 2 once I find enough things to make a video on.
Thanks for the video. I've found that side mirror function is really useful. It's a great way to ensure no curbing mistakes on your wheels. there's a reason the owners manual is pretty thick. It's really worth reading.
Nice job. I did learn a few items so THANKS!
Thanks Nour loved your video i came up with your video and just when i bought a 320i too, i try all these features tomorrow.... Great video keep them coming buddy.
i dont own a bmw, nor am i legally old enough to even drive a car, but i still end up wandering youtube and finding good channels. +1 sub
thanks man
So, you got a car now? 🤣
The Memory Function works with your radio too.. It even gives you the last mp3 you were listening to. Very useful when 2 people are using it.. Both my BMWs have this function..
Great job on this video, you're voice is very clear and I like that you took the time to explain every feature you know of...thanks for your time on this!
Great video. I like the brilliant folks in here, and given I bought a used 325xi wagon 06 manual from a used lot, I wasn't explained these things. It also takes time to read all 7 manuals. So I did learn a lot from Nour. Good job!
I didn't even know I had a BMW!
West Senkovec Lol
Lol. .
Wait what
Its a really cool feature that BMW puts in the key fob.
HAHAHA OK OOOKK
Hey man, you have a lotta bmw knowledge! I've had Beamers for 20 years and it took me ages to learn all this stuff. I don't think I ever knew about the reindeer nose, although I always wondered what the heck it was. The one secret feature you forgot was opening and closing all the windows using the remote (while out of the car, press and hold down the lock / unlock button to close / open all windows and sunroof) OR the key in the door (turn the key and extra step to the right and hold). If you haven't seen it before, prepare to be amazed! Anyway, great job really enjoyed your video.
Mona Bahgat thanks man
Thanks for the tips. I’m picking up a 2011 x3 xdrive this week so look forward to testing some of these out
ayyye young Nour. Got me watching classics while waiting for the new
The passenger mirror has always been a pain in the ass for me when I go to reverse. The mirror faces downward so thanks for this clip. It's very helpful. Awesome job!
The red bulb or lens on the center mirror is a IR remote receiver for your keyfob. Most mirrors self adjust to bright headlights behind you so no manual adjustment needed. Also the auto unlock feature with key insertion can be programmed out by the dealer or do it your self with a laptop, software, and proper USB/OBDII cable. Also if you purchase one with only one keyfob you can purchase new ones on line and also a programmer for the immobilizer for much cheaper than the dealer charges. I had to do this for an Audi I purchased. It only cost me $40 for two new keyfobs with immo chip, $25 to have key cut, and $100 for programmer.
DaytonCarCare Actually it's the alarm on light... blinks red, don't you guys have that in the USA all in Europe do..
The manual says that the red bulb is to show that the alarm is activated.
Great info!! I have a 440i and 328i and most of this info I never knew...the mirror turning down in reverse drove me nuts..Thanks!
thanks bro, video was really helpful , ive had bmw for nearly 2 years , I didn't have a clue about the red nose under the rear view .
Another cool feature... when you use your FOB to unlock your car, and keep your unlock button pressed, it will lower your front and rear windows, followed by your sunroof, thereby allowing you to let go of the heat build-up inside your car before you sit there!
my 14 fusion does this also
Will also drop the top if it's a convertible
Oldie but goodie! Gotta love the cool stuff that no one really checks out 😀
:)
Nour Hummadi which model do you have
aez Scorpion 330i
aez Scorpion E90 335i
BMW Fanatic I am trying to get an 335i e92
Dude, I'm even more excited to be getting my own E90 335xi! Thanks for the video!
This was a great video, thanks for sharing. I learned so much about my car.
2:48 They've had that for a while, my 2000 X5 was able to twist to change the mirror, but my 2007 750Li does not twist...
My favorite feature on my 335i is on the auto transmission in D or S you can take you foot and give a fast stab at the gas pedal and it will down shift you transmission a gear and you can even do it fast twice and it will down shift from like 5th to 3rd.its a very cool option
Every car has that. It's called a kickdown.
@@ar568 Hes not talking about the kickdown. Hes talking about blipping the throttle maybe 3mm down, it downshifts for you, so you have more power transition through cornering.
my 14 fusion does the same thing 6 speed auto trans with sport and paddle shift
Why would you not just use the paddle to downshift?
@@paul2334do you have to hit the button?
Thank you brother. Just radomly found your video
WOW MAN, thanks for all of this new info that I seriously didn't know about
I have had 4 BMWs and I'm clueless on most of those things you mentioned. Thank you very much. R ed nose under the rear view? I would ask, what is that? Thanks bro.
It's an LED signalling the alarm is engaged. If you have an auto dimming mirror that is all it does. If you have manual turn it to dim...
No it’s not bro
The red nose is a motion sensor
You can leave your doors open and lock the door. If anyone puts their hand in the car the motion sensor will set off the alarm. Happens to me on accident all the time in the summer it’s pretty cool
@@straight6petrol67 it is not just what you said but it does that too
Another feature on your car is,if it is frozen and you want to warm it up while not in the car,you can put the key in the ignition, start it up for 3 sec, turn off the ignition, remove the key then push the start button again without the key in the ignition then get out of the car and lock it while it is running to defrost the front windscreen on de-mist
Manuals are so clinical, thanks for making things a lot clearer.
Outstanding. Keep sharing thank you so much! My grandson has a BMW and I'm sharing with him.
Wow have the same car and never new about that dimmer option. Subscribed because of that. Thanks man.
santiago javier np take it easy, new upload Friday.
There are a total of 10 memory slots for 10 different keys. Depending how each key fob, the radio's station preset will change too.
KUDOS to you my friend! That mirror thing baffled me for years!!
Hey @NourHummadi. Thanks for the video. In my 2.18 Grand Tourer, right mirror does not go down even if the mirror toggle on the left. Do you have any idea why?
For the reverse parking mirror tilting down, push the mirror control button to driver side. for those driving on the right side it needs to be on the right.
It does not work on my e91
@@leks85 me too.. wonder if it has to do with the folding mirrors which i donot have.. you?
My biggest criticism with the e9x was their silly system of having two different dash pads depending on whether or not you had navigation.
I love having the choice between single hump and double hump. I personally like the clean and simple single hump
@@evanprice1122and i love that double hump dash 🙌🏽 see you can make everybody happy, except bro just hates that we get options 😂😂😂

Awesome. The tip with the boot opening will be especially useful. I will also try to rear view mirror one for the gate.
Man that was super funny when u found an extra feature then another... Crack up. Great vid.
I enjoyed your video. Thank You. "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm", R.W. Emerson
:)
Thanks for making this video - I am on my second BMW and never knew the purpose of the rudolf nose! Great video!
Ya I've always been afraid to mess with it because red=bad, I'll have to try it tomorrow.
I knew about two of these features. Thanks for the info.
Dang I learned so much in this short video. Keep it up. Thank you
The inside of your center console has a 1-0 switch for cooling your beverage and what not. A black switch next to the cup holder. Literally found that out a week ago 😂
😂 I’ve had my car since 2011 and I only found out a few days ago from another KZhead video. Mine had been on since 2011 and I immediately switched it off after realising. The off button is not that obvious. I’d always wondered why cold air was coming through the console and just thought there was a leak somewhere
on the e90 it does ?
@@lildump651 yeah got one me self. its pretty neat, especially for storing concentrates on long trips 😉
my brothers' e93 also has it
One thing I didn't see you mention is the rear fog lamps. The button is enabled for Europe, but for the US there doesn't appear to be a rear fog lamp option. ALL of the switches have the rear fog lamp, however. If you pull the switch out, you'll find a set of "stand off" feet that keep the fog lamp button from being depressed. Shaving those feet off will re-enable the rear fog lamps.
Has to be coded in afterwards and turned on also.
Nour, great video. Glad to see your channel growing!
thanks man
Thank you, this was very helpful.
it seems the indicator switch is hidden to most BMW owners.
Use it every time. Didn't pay to upgrade to LED not to use it duh 🤨
@@Scotford_Maconochie You don’t own a bmw
The spare light is used for the fuse box which is located in the glove box.
I’ve been watching you for like a year and this is crazy after like 2 minutes watching this I was like wait is this Nour 😂crazy how old this video is man keep it up
Fantastic I have just bought a 2006 , 530i trying to understand all the features, I'm very old so have troubles With all the technology. Learned much, thank you
Can't believe you missed the coolest feature of all. There's a secret/hidden DC power adaptor underneath the glove box on the passenger side. You kind of have to get on the ground and look up to find it the first time. It's in a perfect spot for radar detectors, or other things that need power while driving.
Where exactly?
@@brendacalderon9445 Lie down on your back in the passenger footwell with a flashlight and look up. You’ll find it. It’s under the dash on the passenger side.
I have a X5 and I just found out that when I open my car with my key and hold it for 4 sec or so all the windows come down! I was so happy!
this video makes me love my 7 series even more great video
did you do any upgrades to your gearbox? it changes up really smoothly... mines a 330D and I believe it isnt as quick at shifting as yours
YO 3 MILLION VIEWS
The key memory function was implemented in e39 first i think, also the reverse side-mirror function.
I have an e38 7 series and mine does that
E38
E39 has Key memory and mirror functions
Awesome features. I didn't know a few. Excellent video.
Thanks. I did not knew those function you explained.
00:47 thanks a bunch for that! I was starting to think the side mirror feature on my e92 was broken. guess it was just a matter of side selection :p
Marlind Farka I got you 🙏
Nour Hummadi hehe thnx 🙋👍
bmw radiator over flow tank removeal
I thought the same shit lol
Hey, great video for NEW used BMW owners but for those of us whom are previous BMW owners these are features that you're walked through before you leave the dealership. You're spot on with all the features, great job though... I like your presentation better than BMW... Kudos.... !!! and yes most functions are part of the Valet Pkgs: seats, mirror, radio and such move and changes once the keys are switched... if you have the premium pkgs... Again Great Job and Presentation... we need more of you to help the newer BMW owners who did not purchase new as I have on many occasions .
Thanks man, love the feedback. If there is any videos you have on mind lmk. I upload every Friday :) (Your comment is full of positivity, most people now a days only comment if its negative, so really appreciate it)
The red thing under the rear view mirror is the build in alarm
All BMW mirrors are auto dim thats why sometimes you see ugly foggy mirrors its bcuz the liquid in the mirror starts to leak, and Ivan is correct the red bulb is the alarm. lock the car go outside and see it blink. If its blinking fast that means someone tried to unlock the car with no key, if it blinks once every 5-10 sec means that the alarm is on and car was not disturbed.
Hi Andrew, unfortunately not all BMW mirrors have auto-dim functionality. Mine does not have it (E91) and it has a regular switch underneath the mirror. The alarm light and mirror buttons are also optional (or market dependent, I am not sure on this one. Cheers :)
Jarek Strzelczyk Z
Great video! Now I know why my right mirror wasn't going down all the time when I put the car in reverse :)
Ty never knew my car had this and I’ve been driving this car for four years now I got to 2013 535i M series package addition and I love it.
Great video. I wasn't aware of the keys learning individual comfort access settings. Also, just in case it hasn't already been pointed out: VALET is pronounced: VAH-LAY Just for future reference. Keep up the great work!
Chuck Lee thanks
there is another manual key built into the key fob, one of the corners pulls out, in case all power dies you can still get access
But can it start the car?
@@jonluberio5109 No need, the small key is to get inside the car. The key charges when inserted/while driving. So if it had no power, it will get it when you insert it and the car will start.
Jon Luberio you take off the cap on the push start button, yes
@@freshwaterjay8897 there's an ignition slot under the start button?? damn i didnt know that im gonna try that out
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing these hidden and cool features in BMW
np
Great job young man!
another hidden feature in the glove box "owner's manual" it covers every feature on the car.
Abel Salaz I don't have a manual. I appreciate the video.
I didnt bother because: 1. My BMW was bought used from Germany and it had German manual 2. I looked trough the English PDF version and it was still garbage compared to some car manuals.
Very much appreciated 😏
Millennials don’t read.
Abel Salaz my car did not come with a manual...
When you unlock the door with a kfob it will adjust the seats to the last driver with that kflob.
Mine always messes up this profile function after my husband drives it. He’s 6’4 and I’m 5’4. It’s frustrating for both of us. I’m guessing worse for him because he can’t fit in seat my profile. 2016 335i
Thanks for the heads-up on the reverse dipping mirror function on the passenger side of the car - didn't know that. Have had it on previous BMW's, but my current F31 did not 'appear' to have the reverse dipping passenger mirror, which I put down to not having the folding mirror option - now it does!
Thanks for the info especially with the side view feature while reversing, I used to wonder why my mirror was facing down when I get back into my car lol. I just got a 2005 BMW X3 so some of what you're saying helps a lot.
NP love to help
cool bro thanks for the info.. I have a 2013 E93 M3
Just remembered something else, the vent holes for the dash blower motor are on the side of the center console next to where the glovebox is. The engineers did not think to put any kind of grate or screen over those holes so if your A/C or heat are set to high and the fan is blowing at max speed DO NOT OPEN YOUR GLOVEBOX! This happened to me when a friend was riding with me, he had put some paper napkins in the glovebox and the A/C was blasting, a little later he went to take one out and when he opened the glove the blower motor sucked in the napkins. That was a world of pain, could not use the A/C and it was over $600 to get them out and warranty did not cover it. I argued till I was blue in the face that it was a fault of BMW for not covering those huge vent holes with some sort of grate or screen, or warning you not to put lightweight things in your glovebox, but they denied that. In some states where the registration is smaller and very light it will suck in your car registration then you are doubly screwed since if you have been asked for that by a cop and it goes into your blower instead he is not going to be happy.
Thanks for this video I'm a new Bmw owner and you helped out alot ✌️
Just bought a 2007 328i a few days ago, came without a manual. This is pretty cool. My "Rudolph Bulb" does actually twist as well, which I figured out on the way home after buying the car. Excited to see how many other things I disover down the line.
if you press and hold the unlock button on the key fob for about 5 sec. the windows go down.
chris perez I didn't now that hahaha thanks
Same with up, hold the lock button when you lock your car...doesn't work if you lock and then try to hold the button again, has to be unlocked and then locked and held until the window roll up.
North american cars windows will not roll up. You have to get them coded to enable this feature.
Guess mine is.
Also if you insert the key in the door and hold either lock or unlock it will open or close all the windows. Will also close moon roof if you have that open. BMW has been doing that for many years, even on older models.
Does no-one read the manual anymore?
ever seen somebody read that shit in your life ?
Yes. Why wouldn't you?
Mikey V naw bro no one's reads 5000000 page manual about maintenence
it's staggering really! i bet nobody here knows you're not supposed to warm up your car for 20 mins, or what follow me home lights are.. or the splendor of the stratification knob
Jiatao Liu good thing BMW makes a cd version for you to listen to while you drive
Nice job! Thanks for the information.. a quick overview for those not patient enough to make it through the owners manual.
thanks
Good video bro. Found a few bits out watching this
The mirror dip only works on foldable mirrors, because those are controlled via LIN bus, while ordinary heated power mirrors are controlled directly by the junction box
My mirrors dip, but do not fold.
Hey mate. It is because you have the 330i with iDrive package you have so many features. My 325i without iDrive doesn't have those features you showed. cheers

Duncan Idaho I have an e92 335i Loaded with iDrive and you are right it does come with all those features, It's a package. Gotta say, it's worth it!
Most US cars are full on options ... While most European built cars are very low on options. That is because in Europe, we pay for you guys driving around cheap, full option cars. But, there's one good thing about it, since most US Beemers have auto-gearboxes, which is the one option you should not have. Well, not on a BM.
Good Video mate ... learnt a few more things today.
i am thinking about buying an e93 for myself, this video helped me a lot to know more about what to look for in damages and overpriced vehicules thank you

I have a 2002 525i and my car has some of these features as well, the garage door openers are next to the sunroof controls and not on the rear view, but the side mirror goes down in reverse, the keys change your mirror, seat, and tilt steering settings, and it has the little flashlight built into the glove box. Some of these have been around for quite a while
Yes!! BMW hides these features in the Glove Box, near the Owners Manual
Lol 😂 seriously i agree ! There is NOTHING hidden at all. Its all just features available for the owners and are clearly stated in the manual.
