    • Some headlights are expensive as f*ck! I just replaced the factory headlights on my 2013 328i M Sport with black LED projector headlights and they look so much better than the factory halogen ones. The set cost just under $400 with tax and shipping which I think is a great price! I only mentioned these to compare to my 2010 550i M Sport headlights. My passenger headlight had a broken daytime running light housing when I bought it so I had replace it. Because it is an adaptive headlight with Bi Xenon, HID, auto-level, cornering it ended up being about $1,250! Thankfully I'm capable enough to swap them myself because the dealership wanted $2,500!!

    @chadparries5628@chadparries56285 жыл бұрын
    • Try it on the E90 first :) also, if you're comfortable applying clear coat, I'd recommend a 2x clear coat after the final stage. Skip the wax, clear coat is the proper finish for long-lasting results. Just use alcohol to wipe the lens clean, then apply some clear coat. You might even want to use an abrasive to give the clear coat something to adhere to.

  • Thank you for the video Jake. I used this on my cah and it really does work. 20 years worth of headlight damage gone :). Note: I tried to cut corners at first by using an orbital sander with 400-grit sandpaper, as opposed to buying the 3M kit. This did remove the yellowed plastic layer, BUT I soon realized that buying the kit was the way to go. That is because it's an economical way to get the 800 and 3000 grit sandpaper required to sand the headlights until they are clear (you would probably have to buy this in bulk otherwise... I paid $20 just to be able to get 400 grit sandpaper, along with a lot of lower grades I didn't need). Hell, compare this to other kits which cost $30 and $15 for this kit is a bargain. Also, the drill attachment in the kit has a foam pad which you attach the sandpaper onto. This helps a lot, because it squishes along with the contour of the headlights. Cheers man, thank ya for spreading the word.

  • Just to share, I found that merely spraying the headlights with Purple Power works very well at removing the hazy contaminants. It definitely works better than any glass cleaner might, and may be satisfactory all by itself. However, it would be a great start to the process you described here. Purple Power also work well on the tires and bug guts though you will have to replace polish on any painted surface.

" that too is going to start to chip away as you drive, peeling will eventually occur and of course in Some cases, it's going to have to be redone. Just leave them after final polishing, yeah, I agree with the waxing but, get a drill pad like the one in the 3M kit and purchase some 3M Ultrafine Machine Polish, hand apply or use the polishing pad at low rpms. 3M Perfect-It 16oz Buffing & Polishing Compound system.

  • Can’t wait to see what you do with this car. I had a good time watching the videos of you killing it with the 135 too. I have a 2011 335i automatic , but it’s an n55. There’s a few videos out there for N55s but none are as good as yours. I drive mine daily so just doing 5” stepped fmic , chargepipe and high flow down pipe and MHD tune. We’ll see what happens, maybe I can smoke a few v8’s. My son and I may do an N54 build one day and your videos will be a huge help if and when that day comes.

  • I wasn't able to get the 3m sanding kit in my country but I used the normal sandpaper we know. All I used was the p800 grit ,p1000 grit and 2000grit sandpaper to sand my oxidized headlamp. As you can see upthere they are already in order so I just had to clean them accordingly to the numbers of the sandpaper . first of all I took abucket of water added in some sunlight dish washing soap and i dipped in my sand paper to keep it soft so that it shouldn't scratch my headlamp. Secondly because I did not have a 3m kit available but had adrill ofcourse, I was forced to use my hands scrapping the whole headlamp uniformly in a circular pattern. When sanding, all I made sure my headlamps were always wet so I had a spray bottle aside with water in it to always keep the headlamp wet. After I did all the sanding from 800 grit to 2000grit sand paper the headlamp was smooth and clean all the oxidation was cleared out but it was foggy and it was high time to use the shield products to get rid of the foggyness since the headlamp oxidation was already wiped-out. I then waited abit to cool my hand-off coz it's really a process using ahand mostly the sanding part. then I applied my shield polish miraplate and used a microfiber cloth to polish the headlamp in a circular pattern. The fodgy started to fade out, I buffed with aclean microberfiber towel and all I could see the headlamp getting clearer it was really working. Then second step I applied the miraplate again for the shine to pop. I did the same process of polishing in a circular pattern then the headlamp was completely clean.then I applied carnauba wax to protect it from the UVs which made it even cleaner with a glossy effect. The process was the same. Great experience I had to restore my own headlamps. It wasn't 100% clean like how a newly car would look because I sanded it but what matters was I cleared out all the oxidation and it was restored and had that glossy effect again. No scratches were visible because some people might think the use of sandpaper would spoil there headlamp, I'm here to prove you wrong but my headlamp is 95% clean and glossy. Someone looking at the headlamp wouldn't notice a thing it was been sanded but myself did coz I knew how it was before and how it looked good after. 😊

  • The sanding pad process is the best for results but it's a lot of work. If you want a quick fix getting the yellowish haze out then the 3M headlight restore polish does a really good job in just a few minutes. Simple to use, you apply it like car polish, wax-on wax-off with a cloth.

I may do it without a drill. And the old hard armstrong elbow grease method is usually the best. The mothers aliminum mag is interesting, but I'm leary of it. Must experiment with it an do research on KZhead. I'm cleaning headlights in spring. I'm using Acrylic Clearcoat and I found All Purpose Enamel Spray Paint. I'll use what I have in my shop. I refuse to spend money on a fancy God Damned expensive kit! If it's wrong or doesn't last I'll let you know. Comments? David Alberta
