••• ABOUT THIS VIDEO •••
For quite a while now I have been planning this 1 month trip to Svalbard, and now finally the time has come. I am going to spend the first week together with my dad, and I am really looking forward to having such a father and son trip.
I have added some new solar panels to my equipment and I am quite confident, that they will supply me with sufficient power for this trip where I am going to camp remotely for several days.
To be well prepared for less ideal situations I am practicing pitching the tent in my backyard to get the rutines needed.
When arriving Svalbard dad and I are going on our first trip to a cabin. It is a nice hike and a beautiful location. On the way we meet reindeer but there is no time for photography. My priority is to get to the cabin before anyone gets tired. After all it is many year since we have hiked together.
When dad leaves Svalbard work will start for me. I have an assignment that I can not reveal at this moment, but I am sure many of you will see it within the next month or so...
Happy watching and stay tuned for Part II.
••• WHO I AM •••
My name is Morten Hilmer and I am a professional nature and wildlife photographer.
I work as a ILCP photographer, and nature conservation is very close to my heart.
I have served in the Danish military special unit, the Sirius Patrol, for two years and that has given me the skills and confidence to operate alone in the arctic regions. I have spent two further years in the northern parts of Greenland meeting the local people and working on photography projects. My driving force is a sense of adventure and my fascination for nature, and my curiosity and empathy for other cultures has led me to many remote regions.
Read more about my time in the Sirius Dogsled Patrol: www.bbc.com/earth/story/201602...
Beside being featured in publications and in my books books my photographs have been awarded in the Wildlife photographer of the year and European Wildlife photographer of the year photo competitions.

I am lucky enough to live in the French alps and be able to have great landscapes. But I wish I cold experience true wilderness. • Could you explain the reason for doing this? :D

      @egoet@egoetАй бұрын
    • @@egoetThis is done in the nothern countrys in cabines which are located in the wilderness. The reason for that is, if someone comes in with surch numb hands that they don‘t have enough control anymore to take matches out of the matchbox, so they desperately need a fire, the can take the ends of the matches which are sticking out of the box in their mouth and strike the fire like that. Fire preparation like that can save someones live. That is why you leave a northern cabine always with fire materials prepared ready to go. Credit for the knowledge to Ray Mears. 😃👍

Enjoy your time with him, maybe he passed the strong leg genes on to you as well. I've been a Nikon shooter for all those years and a member of NPS, so your adventures are particularly interesting to me. It is great to hear that you are a Nikon Ambassador. Your are a perfect selection. You are a true ambassador in every sense of the word. I have been a viewer of yours since you started and you continue to amaze me and other followers with your diverse and interesting content. I don't think people realize how much work it is to keep the video content coming. I worked for a daily newspaper in New York for 23 years so I know a little about producing continuous content. The paper was like a an addict, "give me more, more," and we had hundreds of people working on it, not just a sole proprietor like you trying to feed KZhead. Here's prayer that your trip with him, and the extended stay went well.

  • Wonderful video, lovely to see your father being included in your travels. I lost mine 10 years ago this Christmas, I only wish he could be part of mine.

  • Great to see your Dad out with you Morten! I like the look of your backpacks and bags, they look really stout. Just watching you guys having lunch in the cabin is relaxing.
