SVALBARD Photo Adventure - PART 3 | bird photography and remote solo camping
••• SVALBARD PHOTO ADVENTURE •••
PART 1: • SVALBARD Photo Adventu...
PART 2: • SVALBARD Photo Adventu...
I am on Svalbard for 10 days to photograph wildlife and landscapes. My plan is to get dropped off by boat on a small desolated island and stay there for a little less than a week to enjoy life with wild camping, wildlife photography and beautiful landscapes.
A huge thank you to Greendog Svalbard for helping me out on this adventure.

SVALBARD Photo Adventure part 1: • SVALBARD Photo Adventu...
SVALBARD Photo Adventure part 2: • SVALBARD Photo Adventu...
I get a lot of rain and wind during the night, but in the morning it is clearing up, and I can go out to do some bird photography. Unfortunately I do not find the fox - not on the island at least!
A storm forces me to get a pick up before planned, and heavy rain and high winds forces me to stay indoor for 4 more days.
On the very last day though it get better, and I go to a small valley where I am really lucky to get some very nice photos..
In the next video I will talk about and demonstrate some of the safety equipment I brought in this photo adventure to Svalbard including flare gun, smoke grenade, rifle etc.

I feel like I'm on a trip every time I watch Morten's videos.
Isn't it simply stunning?! I did not want this to end. Such excellent story telling and the photos of the fox brought tears to my eyes.. Job well done, Morten.
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much Michal - I really appreciate your nice compliment👍👍
@@MortenHilmer A true gift, your tone, the pace, the details, bts and thank you for welcoming us.
Ya thats very true even i feel so 🙂
This makes better sense then climbing Mount Everest.
The 23 mins seemed like 3 mins, it's just so easy to get totally lost in the moment watching your videos, waiting for the next awesome video
🤩🙌 so beautiful awesome shots. Love it. You inspire me🙏🏻 thank you
to me like hours but in a good way, of course :)
👍👍👍
the end really moved me to tears. Thank you so much for sharing with us Morten.
😊😉
As always, stunning storytelling Morten, keep up the flow, you´re inspiring many people!! Hugs!!
Thank you so much for another nice compliment
I can watch these again and again...such a pleasure.
your videos make peace to my heart
I only can imagine what is like being the only human in a vast area, the peace that nature can offer for only a few lucky ones. Beautiful work.
There is something about your photographic study of a lone animal that brings into perfect focus its special majesty, fine beauty and deeply valuable existence. The fox was the icing on the cake, but all of it, each precious animal, the time-formed landscape, the elements constantly in motion, the subtle colours, the intense atmosphere and the suspense makes the watching of your films a very special experience. Thanks Morten.
Don't be sorry for not blogging Morten. I'm personally very grateful for what you share and the vast amount of your time you put into sharing it with us. And I must say you're a stronger man than I. I would have had the coffee way before I opened the tent flap! :)
😉
Waiting for this video from last week and finally arrived
We just went on a Morten Hilmer adventure of a lifetime! That was wonderful, Morten! So worth it to get those beautiful moments with the Arctic Fox and your timelapse with the wildflowers and snow-covered mountains was also great! I'm so glad you did not stay for the storm, that would have been miserable. Thank you for making these videos :D
So nice to hear Liesl. Always a true pleasure to read your nice comments 😊
you must love your work very much, very beautiful what you do. Please keep uploading videos to see the wonders of the world
Morten I have watched all three Svalbard videos and they really are epic. Thank you for taking us on your adventure to such a beautiful wilderness, it is a real antidote to modern life!
Morten, your videos are fantastic, you have brought me a lot of peace and inspiration in this crazy time! Yesterday evening I made the best photograph I have taken in years! A pair of barn owls in flight, a rather rare, special moment. THANK YOU!
Morten, thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. It's been superb, wondering along with you and seeing the beautiful scenery and wildlife. Your enthusiasm is totally infectious.
this is just really really peaceful. it's a lovely video as always.
It never seems like just a video to me, whenever I watch I feel that I am listening to you while sitting at front of you, walking with you in the wilderness and can smell the wind, feel the weather. Thanks for making such magnificent videos with all your heart.Well, It's was a hard choice between coffee and solar panel though😂 hope to see you out there soon.
Haha thanks - I was proud of choice though 👍👍
Haha, that was funny, such a great sense of humor and a wise choice. :D

This video is gold!! Your videos are such a joy to watch👍👍
Is here any teenager to watch his videos. I just love his videos since 3 to 4 months. I think his channel is perfect for me as a nature lover.
I saw you have were using Nescafe LYX. My wife and I lived off that coffee every day in Göteborg last year when we came to visit family and friends. By the way, you are the biggest inspiration to do exactly what you do in all of your videos. This has been my ultimate goal since I was a child. Thank you so much for being out here on youtube, the inspiration is massive, and I am very grateful.
Really enjoyed this series, thanks for sharing. Some stunning photos and videos, but that little Arctic Fox stole the show at the end, simply gorgeous!
Fantastic video with beautiful music. Well done again Morten! Thank you for taking us with you to these magnificent places.
And what could be more satisfying than waking up next to my 600mm, love it. Top series.
Like Ive said before Mr. Hilmer, you are quite a remarkable gentleman. Keep up your amazing work and may it long inspire us to look after our planet
You are an amazing wildlife photographer. The conditions that you endure are beyond most of us. Amazing. I enjoy watching your videos. Stay well!
At last, coffee was nearly getting cold there Morten :) .......and relax....again.
Just watched this series with my 19year old daughter. Absolutely fabulous. The story telling and the production is simply outstanding Morten! Al Gurr
Wonderful. Nice and cosy. Glad you finally got to get some pictures of the little arctic fox. Beautiful.
Thanks for taking me along, Morton.
So great to see how he planned and made nature pictures . Was born in a small village and feel like home watching the videos . So endless great . Thank you very much Morten .
Thank you Morten, that was great. I was so looking forward to part 3. That fox was amazing. Keep up the great work, i really appreciate it. Cheers

Super series Morten. Thanks
You are so welcome 👍
How does someone give a thumbs down to this footage. Its bloody fantastic stuff and has me hooked. Especially the camping and story of adventure. Well done Morten.
Amazing trip. Thanks for sharing it!
The videos are amazing and you are such an excellent story teller, but what strikes me the most is the respect you show for the place and the animals, an example.
I so enjoyed this series. Those arctic fox pics are everything! Beautiful work
What a video!!! We are your biggest fans. Leave the photography aspects apart, the visuals and the story is always grand. What a way to live our lives !!
That’s a breathtaking place and the way you transmitted the atmosphere is mind blowing. Thanks for that great work !
Ahh, the GREAT life!! Living 'er single and not having a care in the world except for what your aperture needs to be set at.. Awesome video!!
Thanks for another great video. What I've learned from your videos is that there's never a guarantee to see anything when you're out, but when you do it is incredibly rewarding and 100x worth the sacrifice.
I dont want this trip to end! I have so enjoyed and looked forward to each one of your videos. What an amazing gift you have given your viewers. You are so talented in your photography, video and music. In a world that sometimes seems out of control, it is so refreshing to watch something that leaves you up lifted and at peace! God bless you! :)
Morten, thank you for the lovely series of your trip up to Svalbard. Your videos have inspired me to get out and about so much more. Been taking photos for over 50 years and been fortunate enough to travel many places, but in the last year or two, between you and Ben Horne KZhead, I have gone back to some old routes and spending more and more time of just going out into nature with a simple tent, sleepy bag and essential gear and enjoying what God has given us in nature. The first two parts of this series, prodded me to get out of the RV for the long weekend and head out to Death Valley.Just me and the tent and gear and not particular schedule.Managed to revisited DV and find some new spots, got up early to catch the sunrise from Dante's View overlooking the salt ponds of Badwater, got the Sunset and colors of Artist Drive, had fun exploring Rhyolite, captured Darwin Falls and lots of hiking and shooting.Unlike you though, I did not have to make a choice between the solar charging and coffee since the batteries were all well charged and power at campground was available, so by my nature also, coffee was priority. So much so that I finally bought a Jet Boil to get it quicker, thought I still carry my gas similar to your for other ( a 20 year old MSR Whisperlite-still going strong BTW).I am still going through nearly 400 photos taken of some great landscape and a little wildlife (even manage to get close up of one of the Wild Burros found at in and around DV).I want to thank you for the inspiration to drag the 62 year old bones out more often and spread them out in a nice cozy sleeping bag under a little 3 man tent. Your videos have inspired me and I thank you for that.Best to you and yours
Just got back from an amazing encounter with wild red deer stags somewhat local to me. My motivation was extremely low after not having a lot of free time but I watched one of your videos and pushed myself out the door! Just looking through the photos now and they are epic! Maybe not as great as the captive deer in London parks that have been plastering the Internet lately as they always do this time of year but I think they are amazing and that's all that matters! Thanks again for the inspiration! Now I enter home through the kitchen door and I see this and it's made my day! Time for the 4K TV to get some use again 👍👍😁😁👍👍
Sounds awesome Joe. Nothing is better than a day in the forest. I sometimes feel the same lack of motivation but then when I force myself out there I never regret it. So nice with one of your great comments 👍
@@MortenHilmer Honestly it was so hard it was like I knew I had to get out but I didn't want to and did want to all at the same time. Sort of like the angel and devil on the shoulder... I posted a pic on your Facebook group :)
I know exactly what you mean , Joe. Motivation to get out and photograph actual wild deer when there are so many Richmond Park ‘perfect’ shots doing the rounds is hard. I’m going to Studley Royal tomorrow to photograph the park deer, I expect the shots to be so much better than the ones from local woods, but I get so much more pleasure from trail camera footage of deer, foxes and badgers in those local woods as they are ‘wild’ - even though my chances of getting a decent photo of any of them are so much less.
@@HampshireHog63 I think the main reason I find it annoying is that to those that aren't in the know these are wild shots when in fact they aren't!
These expedition videos make me so happy
The best of the best by Morten Hilmer.
What an amazing video and awesome capture of this adorably sweet artic fox! Great as always and can’t wait to see more! Take care and be safe!
You are truly amazing. Your photo, video, and background music selections are just right. With a deft hand, you tell moving stories with your videos.
You realize the dream of many of us, thank you for your effort and poetic approach to photography. You are the best Morten, and the better.
I know how much work these are. Your videos are by far some of the best, if not the best. Your photography is excellent as well. Looking forward to the next one! Thank you
Yes now I can relax 👍📸
So beautiful landscapes! Breathtaking!!! 🤩😍
Beautiful pictures of stunning nature, well cut and perfectly fitting soundtrack. Your movies make me feel really happy, as if I had been on this trip too. Thank you, Morten!
22:00 Absolutely amazing shot! Beautiful.
Grazie per questo vlog! Spetacolare!
In a word: beautiful.
Great great wildlife video... and magnificent landscapes, well done Morten
Yes!!! finally !! Thank you!
A truly fantastic mini series, thank you for sharing Morten!
Your work is like a national geographic. I love it,
Awesome !
Those Arctic Fox photographs were absolutely incredible Morten!
Another great one to add to the books!!!
Amazing Morten, looking forward to the next adventure.
Very great! Thanks a lot for taking us with you on your Wildlifejourney! 👌🏻👍🏻👋🏻😊
always, you always get to surprise and makes me emotional video after video, creation after creation, what a simple, natural humble man with the nature..."see you out there"
Amazing video like always.
Thanks for sharing Morten absolutely wonderful stuff!! I was totally spellbound.
Once again, an excellent production: outstanding scenery, camera work, and music! Watched all 3 'episodes' and was captivated by the barren beauty of the island. You have a way of 'bringing us along with you' in your work! Most of us will never have the chance to see what you've seen, excpet through your videos. Thanks!
So kind of you to write and tell me 👍👍👍
Coffee is so good! 😊
That's gorgeous! Love your work!
Absolute amazing!
their is something about the this Arctic Foxes that captivate me. I truly enjoy Morten`s Videos everything is perfect even the music.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, Morten! It's a joy to my heart and I think I'll be coming back to it when the time comes for it!
You are a brave man. People usually choose easy subjects for photography, but not you. Greetings from Poland
Amazing🙏
Hey man I sticked on your channel☺️ But in a good way🤗 I also love nature and animals in wild nature so usually I go camping. But in your videos I found all together. Adventures, animals, nature, camping, bushcraft Love all these! Thanks a lot!🤗🤗🤗
This is kick arse stuff, as we say in New Zealand. It means no mucking around right into the real stuff. I like seeing to the full actuality of the experiences, cooking , ruugged weather, and the things we deal with all the time, batteries, ordinary set backs, and in Morten's case protection with weapons.
Amazing 😍
Thank you for these 3 days. Looking at your adventures was so relaxing.
