The scene saving is different if your doing this in 2021: The scenes are in a folder in assets. You can save it there. You can save your project in the "file" section but you cant save the scenes in there. so to save a scene or create a new scene go to assets>scenes>{right click} create>scene Hope this helps!

What changed?
It was the summer of 2017. I was still in middle school. It was a summer morning as I was gonna go someplace later, but I had about 2 hours of the morning to myself. I had just learned about unity and c# coding, and this video was the one I was about to watch. I remember the peaceful morning and how great it was, as I was watching this video for the first time, with no knowledge of the adventure I was gonna have later in life with my game development journey. Last September, he said his goodbyes and that shook a lot of the game dev community. This is his most popular video, and the video that got me started making games. Man, I remember a recent time where I just sat and reminisced about the good times I had with my game dev journey, and what a privilege it was to grow into one of the best game-making versions of myself it was. Thank you, Asbjorn, for all the great times you gave your community. And to all the beginners out there, hang on, its gonna be one heck of a ride.

Unity is a great engine, Brackeys shows that very clearly. Lots of people hate this game engine for a variety of reasons, I bet if they watched Brackeys KZhead channel, they'd give Unity a chance. Also, love your pfp ✝️ 😀

The lighting looks completely different (and crap) in the newer versions of unity! edit: found a fix, you have to go to Window > Rendering > Lighting settings, then tick the "auto generate lighting" box. Edit: Brackeys shows later in the series to turn auto off, because it caused problems in older versions of unity, but for the first 7 or 8 episodes, he has auto on.

*IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!* Many people have been having errors where if you either play the game and don't touch any controls or if you hit the side on the platform, the player will disappear and the console will throw over 3000 Invalid AABB rkBox errors. *THE FIX:* Unity has trouble calculating the hitbox of an object the size of the platform. Instead of the length being 10000, set it to around 2000 or 3000. Voila! No more errors! If this helped you or you think it will help others, *please like it so that others may fix this issue* without going through what I did.

Programming in Unity might be hard, but imagine how hard was programming Unity
Game Engines and many programs in general are quite hard and tedious to program. I can barely make a non-buggy game, let alone a whole-a$$ game engine xD.
So dense with information - the only video on KZhead that I listen to on 1x speed, and then replay it over and over. It took me about 3 hours to get through this one ... Thanks Brackeys!!! Amazing work.

Im a 17 yo in America. My entire life I've owned consoles and have never owned a pc due to many reasons. Most being price, the second being access to internet. I think people have watched some of his videos because they got in this mode where they really wanted to make a game, but then they probably realized it was a lot of work, I don't think he's underrated. I just think people decide this isn't for them.

if you have a 32 bit pc (like me) then use the 5.6 version of unity. it's the latest supported unity software

Hope you guys like the video! There is a poll towards the end on what programming language you would like me to teach - JavaScript or C#. Both languages can be used to make awesome games. JavaScript is considered easier to learn for complete beginners however Unity has shifted heavily towards C# lately (their premade assets, documentation and tutorials is all in C#). C# is my personal favorite but I started in JavaScript so things can quickly change! I will leave the decision to you guys! Oh and thanks for all the support on the last video, it makes me excited to bring you more! Remember to share the video if you think it's worth it ;) I'll see you in the next one!

Just now looking into making games, but as someone who went into college having never even seen code much less written it and graduating with a Bachelors in Computer Science, I encourage everyone to look into it if is something you think you may be interested in. It can seem intimidating, but it is 100% something you can learn to do.
To anyone who can't see their 3d objects in scene. Look at the top right corner. there should be a drop down for layers. select that and then select "everything" or "default". for some reason I had it on nothing.

If your colours look a lot darker than his in the video: Go to Directional Light, change the colour to a bright white (as its default set at a darker colour) then up the intensity to 2. Hope this helps
