  • I like Ricky because you can tell he doesn’t dislike these people personally, but is simultaneously disgusted by what Hollywood/the entertainment industry has become and represents.

    • @ricky gervais. I read average of 18.3 M viewers - solid numbers. I would like to know though what the numbers are for those who watched afterward. If it’s anyone like me, who’s on the other side of the world and only watch the recordings, because I’m asleep when it’s live, I think there would be more. I also the think most people watch only for the monologue and the reaction to that continued for several days. Good days.

    • I totally agree. I value freedom of speech very highly. I think with humour it’s either ALL ok or NONE of it is ok, same with language. It is all in how you use it, and obviously its freedom shouldn’t mean freedom of consequence and people disagreeing but your right to say it remains. I am disabled and have a number of conditions. My boyfriend calls me sicknote, a speccy/four eyed cunt (we both wear glasses and his are way thicker lol) I have epilepsy and Tourette’s syndrome, he’ll call me twitch. Me and my friends regularly laugh at my tics. Does it suck having Tourette’s? Absolutely! But who is the world to question what I can and can’t say about my own condition? Laughing at it when it’s funny is freeing and helps me cope. It’s all about intention. I was on the radio and asked love what I thought about a joke at the Edinburgh Festival about Tourette’s that was controversial. It was along the lines of it can’t stop shouting about cauliflowers. I think I have florets syndrome.’ I said it didn’t offend me at all, just didn’t think it was super funny. I offered one a bit more anecdotally that Tourette’s makes you suck at certain games like charades. I just go up look at the card and shout ‘JAWS’ and that’s my turn done. They obviously wanted an outraged reaction. Sorry to tell you my life story lol 😂 I’m not saying everyone has to like these jokes. It’s ok to feel offended and not try to cancel someone and just accept that’s not for you I dunno

That said, I'm sure there are plenty who only believe something because they grew up in it, but, even then, eventually people should start thinking for themselves, and if they don't, well, they made that choice as well.
