I (for one) would rather see the likes of Amy and Tina poking fun (and occasionally hitting hard) where it's due, without coming across as cynical and miserable, like Gervais in his last Golden Globes gig. The people in charge of these award shows want TV ratings above all else, and Tina and Amy's style appeals to a wider net than Gervais's "burn 'em all down" approach. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Ricky Gervais ripping celebrities apart, but year after year? Ehhhh. Too much of a good thing.

First her suggestion that a movie star would ever do porn allows Tina Fey to say "Pretty sure she has no plans to do porn (because she's a movie star, why would she)" This sets up the line when Amy Poehler says "no one has PLANS to do porn" implies that any female (especially those that end up in porn) never PLANNED to end up in porn, but still end up in porn. • Except for Tom Hanks. One of the greatest actors of his time and he still can't pretend like he is fine with a few simple jokes against him😂 and this one was "Tam Honks", a preschool level joke which he couldn't handle.

  • Watching this in 2023 and realized that Tam Honks has the same exact look during the entirety of Ricky Gervais’ 2020 Globes opening monologue. He’s like the Derek Zoolander of awards shows. He only has one look!!!

  • Their top 3 jokes in each GG: 1. George Clooney Part 1 ("Gravity is nominated for Best Film. It's the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.") 2. on George Clooney Part 2 ("George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an advisor to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three-person U.N. panel commission investigating rules-of-war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.") 3. on Kathryn Bigelow ("I haven't really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron.")
