Jays never shy about what he has but he also never rubs it in your face or brags about it. Always a classy guy that does a lot of charity for others
That's because he's had a LOT of past lives of penury. He will never be arrogant or self absorbed.
He likes to teach about the stuff which I appreciate.

I have heard from several people who have met him that he is very down to earth. He deserves every penny he has because he earned them.
I have met Mr. Leno and he said call him Jay. We were showing my 69 Buick Riviera at a car show. He came and admired it. He was dressed in jeans and his trade mark chambray shirt, with a grease stain on it! A great down to earth guy, who admired my car!!!!!. Made my day
I met fellow that worked in Jay Leno's garage, before starting his own vintage race car shop, years ago He told me that guy you see in these videos and his garage show, is exactly how he is.
That's good to hear, cheers
@@buckodonnghaile4309o One thing on my bucket list is to visit his garage. I have loved his taste in cars and motorcycles. His humor is pretty awesome too! I'm 75, so we are not too different in age. But the best thing is he just seems like the real deal!
Jay doesn’t have “old money”, he earned every nickel of it, and he’s comfortable showing (not show off) what he has, especially the car collection, which he graciously allows us to drool over! Italian boy made good !! 🇮🇹🇺🇸
Half Scottish 🏴 🇺🇸 😁👍
I hear you
@@ohio he didn’t touch it, he drove it away 😂😂😂🤙🏻 now he makes another fortune doing his dream car shows. Hes the best
@@Shane-zx4ps me too half Italian too my Daddy was from Brooklyn! And we had a vintage British and Italian motorcycle shop my brother worked at Dudleys, Ghost snd Cycle city before our shop. He road raced a 750 Duc . Was good too. We still have bikes for sale, box stock. Mostly Italian left but some Indian parts and some really old English bikes a few whole, need restoration. One trophy restored 70’s . Hope Jay reads this! Spokey restored it. The rest of English bikes went back to the UK. They are supposed to come back for their 9th time for more . Getting a kick out of returning them to the UK. Would love to see Jay get some. My brother would be proud if he did.

Imagine buying a house so large and expensive that it COMES with a painting in the entry way that is worth more than a lot of people’s entire house.
That's money! Wow.
I’ve read that he lives off his stand-up comedy money and hasn’t even touched any of his Tonight Show money
@@joemonstermaker4784 , his KZhead earnings will probably make more than the Tonight Show, especially Jay Leno’s Garage.
@@joemonstermaker4784 Very doubtful with the extensive car collection of super expensive cars that he has, plus the warehouses for the cars, plus staff, plus the L.A. House.
Everything is worth something to someone. A bowl of soup is worth more than a painting . . . to a starving person.
Jay Leno is a a National Treasure. He Loves his Veterans, so humble and kind.
I don't think Conan would agree.
@@skip686Or Letterman.
That's HIS problem
Worked with many celebrities and Jay with his wife are one of the most humble and nice folks one can meet. Very down to earth.
Jay is a such great man. He dresses like the property maintenance guy instead of the owner. I also liked that he just didn't want the house but everything inside.
Jays got stains on his t-shirt, he probably was in the middle working on one of his cars. What a normal guy.
That peacock story is freaking amazing
That peacock was probably no more than 100 yards off in the water.
Peacocks do what they want! Lol 🤣
I have a peacock story while I was staying on Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
There is NO peacock references in the Bible. That is plain poppycock
@@apologiamixer or is that pure PEAcock? Lol
One of the very few celebrities who stayed married to one wife, and he buys her a mansion just because she mentions it's lovely!
We would do it if we could.
@Art the Angel of JESUS bless you. You sound like someone who doesn't get any.
Imagine. Here I am single in an old studio apartment☹️
Didn't he got married to a guy a few years back?
I thought the house looked nice from the many backyard angles they kept showing, but when I saw the front, how it wraps circularly, I realized why they were immediately impressed by the house as they drove past it. It’s beautiful.
He’s living the dream and he earned it . My hats off to him 👊🏻
@Digby Dooright lol 😂
@@user-pn5fk8db9q we all have chance and choices he made good ones he wasn’t born rich
I miss seeing him on tv. His sense of humor is the best.
@@sammyn549 he was always fair in politics too everyone got hit 😁
Wow!
The "homing peacock" story in itself was worth watching the entire video. I could watch a 2-hour long episode of this. Thanks, ARS. Great video.
I had the pleasure of performing music at this house for the previous owners. The place is amazing. The owner at the time was Richard L. Bready. CEO for NORTEK INC., chair of the RWU, and philanthropist.
Mind sharing Or at least hinting who they were?
That's amazing. Lucky you, and probably lucky them for your gracing the halls with music. ♡
@@schmidtythekidd He invented something to do with air conditioning, I believe.
@@Chereese0808 Thank you. The place was amazing. I have some nice pics and memories from that day. One in particular of my wife and I in front of that infinity pool.
@@stephenrestaino Yes, he was the guy who invented the on/off switch
"God, those people are nosey." I laughed out loud 🤣
I did too. His delivery was just too funny.
And when he said after they leave, I am going to check to see if the silverware is still there...😅
that counting the silver line was hilarious... jay is always genius with charm and humor
One of the few fancy houses that I actually like the interior decor. It looks cheerful and livable
The art and paintings are all more relatable it's nice
I love how humble he is. Just wearing a t shirt and jeans. My friend in California has met him several times and he said he is the nicest guy.
Met him once when he bought an all original shovel head off a co worker at the bike dealership I worked at. He’s as humble in person as he is on tv.
Jay has never made you feel that he owns all these wonderful things, especially his car collection! He simply views himself as the caretaker of these wonders to be passed along to the next worthy soul that cherishes treasures as much as he does....his own words !
Jay is so humble. He acts like how i would hope I would act if I was as wealthy as Jay. Just a classy guy.
"Just a classy guy ..." Carson: 😆 Letterman: 😂 Conan: 🤣🤣🤣
down to earth! for sure!
Jay Leno stayed off drugs, and was never in a scandal or the Tabloids. Jay wisely put every Tonight Show check into savings for a rainy day. Jay lived off his stand-up comedy routine all those years while the Tonight Show salary was invested wisely and grew substantially until Jay finally retired and started to spend his fortune on the things he liked. When you buy a Mansion on the East Coast it's less taxes and half the price of California. I do think that when Jay and Mavis pass the Mansion will be donated for Historical Preservation of the "gilded age" in America history.
my man really typed: "Jay is so humble" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh nononononono
Jay is probably one of few whom can bring Antiques Roadshow to him.
Leno started out doing stand up in Boston's Combat Zone when it was still a place that most of you wouldn't show up to cash in a lottery ticket. He earned everything he has.
Didn't know that. I saw Jay for the 1st time on my very first date. He had bought tickets to a comedy cruise on Boston harbor. Great show, great memory!
There's something about Jay that's very authentic doesn't inspire envy and just motivates. I really like that about him. He's like that cool wise uncle that just wants to show you cool things and share knowledge with you. Always picking your brain asking you questions. Love it.
I love the fact that you, Jay would invite us into your home to see your stuff. Your home is a beautiful work of art. Your wife is a lucky girl. My husband never bought me a castle! Lucky girl! Yay!!!
Omg!! The peacock came back !! Amazing! Beautiful house, love Jay Leno, miss him on the Tonight Show, just isn't the same without him.
When Leno left, I left. Nothing on late is worth watching.
@@donfss5088 same.
When late night was great!!!
I love Jay's comments "paint by numbers", "counting the silver", etc.
Mr. Leno is quite the wisecracker. thanks for all the car vids Jay Leno, love em
I am very happy that sometimes good, hard working people become wealthy, not just jerks. I am happy for you Jay!
For once I enjoyed reading all the comments on a video. It's so nice to be reminded that kindness, humor, fidelity, and integrity are still popular. Thank you Mr. Leno and ARS!
What a spectacular gift to his wife. It is one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever seen.
Well, if you have infinity money and about 10 good years left, it’s the least you could do.
Especially because she's a very unattractive woman
@@stanleymasterson1135 hardly, especially for someone who is 75 years old. Disrespectful comment!

He's not bragging , he wants us to enjoy it by seeing the cool stuff
Always have liked Jay. He deserves all the success and money he has made. Beautiful home for him and his wife.
From a guy that lived in his car at one point in his life to having a vacation mansion. Jay Leno is as real as it gets.
I've wondered if living in his car had anything to do with his car collection
@@nancywelsh2837 I think that had more to do with being a mechanic and working at a garage.
looks like a castle to me
Thanks for showing this beautiful place my dad actually lived in it for a time while he was in the Navy over 50 years ago when I was very small my sister and I got to visit it.
One of the most beautiful houses I've ever seen.
One painting could pay off my debt, buy me a home of my own ! That is amazing that something like that is worth so much money !Kudos to Jay Leno!
His 1934 Duesenberg Walker Coupe is worth 20 million dollars. It's worth more than that house and everything in it.
The Jay Leno Collection of Fine Art. World Renown.
I've always loved jay Leno. I'm happy to see him so successful from his years of comedy.
Thank you for being Jay Leno.
This has been our favorite house in Newport since the 1970’s! It was such a delight to enjoy a peek into this beautiful home and see the gorgeous grounds and view!! Thank you so very much!
Have you ever toured the Breakers?
@@c.r.f.4412 I could give the tours as we’ve been there many, many times through the years. Back in the early 70’s as newlyweds on a rainy day, we pulled up there in our little VW Bug and they had us park right at the front door. We could not tour the 2nd floor at the time because one of the Vanderbilt ladies in her 90’s still had her bedroom there!
I really like the mixture of decorations etc. It is a warm and inviting home not too ostentatious. I toured the breakers etc 40 years and they were all gold etc. Not warm like the Jay Lenos mansion. I 😍. ❤️
In the mid '70s we'd run barefoot on the lucious lawns of Ocean Drive at the first hint of spring. 50 years later I am more careful running the lawns lol. Put a trip to Newport in April or September on your bucket list.
Jay is always on beat.. can never miss a moment for humor!!! What a guy!!
He has a massive collection of historic, museum worthy cars, and house that he shows them to us the public as his peers. Classy guy.
The way he wears his jeans and the black T-shirt so simple but so stylish
Jay is always good at playing the, "Aww, shucks. I'm just a regular guy who doesn't know much." While he has one of the greatest car collections in the world, and he buys oceanfront mansions just by driving past them. He doesn't fool me!
I don't think he's actively collecting any trinkets. They just happened to be there. 😃😃
@@bobinpune I think he was coming out to an annual car show he likes to attend every summer and saw this house over the years and decided to ask if it was for sale, turns out it was. It's the kind of house that doesn't show up on Zillow, you have to inquire separately. In this case he literally knocked on the door, the homeowner was not there, but one of the staff answered and got in contact with the owner.
Agreed he’s full of it
I don't think you get that wealthy being a talk show host. I'm curious where he invested.
He’s main job was a talk show host and he’s obviously made investments
Thank you Jay for opening the door of your wife's amazing new vacation home gift to let us peek inside. It was like a gift to me to see it!!! An extremely wonderful purchase!!!
Absolutely love this man! Much happiness to Jay & wife Mavis!!
I have the utmost respect and love for Jay Leno. After all of his success he still remains very unpretentious and down to earth. He hasn’t been changed by all of his fame and fortune.
I like how Jay got his dress blue jeans and t-shirt on for the appraiser's. Jay seems to be a very normal, down to earth guy.
Just an ordinary guy living in his ordinary 100 million dollar mansion.
You can be wealthy and still have humanity and class as I believe Jay does.
I believe that's called having "F-you money."
His snap button denim shirt was in the wash that day.
Or for the IRS.
Beautiful home Jay, congratulations buddy, we’ll deserved. You’ve been making us all smile for years.
Jay grew up here in New England so it does not surprise me he retains his humor and being humble about his possessions. Hello from Rhode Island Jay !!
I enjoy "Antique Road show" and everything Jay Leno does because I'm such a car guy as well,so of course, I really enjoyed this video. Very entertaining.
It's amazing that just adding his name to an item makes the value double or more.
Jay Leno has bought many things that I loved . But this is at the top . In the way he bought it is the way it should be . And the fact he walks around in blue jeans makes it even better . Now this magnificent home will always be Jay Leno's home .
I'm a local thoroughly enjoying Jay's ownership of this mansion. He's done fundraisers for local folks in a tiny theater down the street. Stand up guy, pun intended.
Talks about his wife as “his gal”. Like a teenager would. Sooo freakin sweet!!
My god that is a gorgeous house, one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen. The East Coast has some of the most beautiful houses and real estate in the country.
When Jay bought that CASTLE for $13.6 MILLION he made the best real estate deal in American HISTORY!
13 million WOW that is a deal with all decor too
Its not a castle though. Its just a big house.
@@MsPinkwolf Yup. The Newport homes built in the Gilded Age were mostly fake French chateaux or fake Italian palazzi. This is a house built to take advantage of its spectacular location. A really big house, finished beautifully. But basically comfortable. The contents are fine, interesting art - not by the most famous artists. People could actually sit in those couches and chairs. They are not gilt encrusted European antiques.
Amen…I loved it at 19 million!
It's probably a million a year just to maintain and pay taxes on it.
This video just popped up on my recommended videos to watch list & I was pleasantly surprised. I could have watched an hour of Jay making jokes & listening to the appraisers giving the backstory/value of his furnishings. Hopefully there's some more with other celebrities, cheers.
We thoroughly enjoyed this episode! That house at this location is absolutely phenomenal, just stunning!
Jay's unassuming attitude, makes him so special.
Jay’s life’s as a whole the work , cars, persona . He is such a grounded man . Thank you Jay for always sharing . Keep going strong !
Hilarious. I like the outside urinal joke lol. Right in the beginning. 🤣😂👍🤩. Very lucky man.
Can’t remotely fathom just “finding a number” for something as extraordinary as this. It’s just beyond comprehension.
I rarely see celebrity homes that I like, but this is beautiful and a perfect setting. How nice to be able to afford and say to the owner, can I buy it with everything included - who knew comedy could be that lucrative, but good for him.
Ah that house and garden are what dreams are made of!😍
You miss the part where a cast iron statue was washed out to sea? You can keep that coastal living.
Until winter.....🥶
Everything I have seen on Leno supports my belief that he is a solid down to earth guy. I am also jealous of his car collection.
Jay is a nice guy, thanks for showing it
That was a real treat. The previous custodian of the house had exquisite taste, and Jay had the good sense not to mess with the house as he found it.
I love Jay Leno.He is an amazing person.
A class act, very humble. A serous car guy. Jay Leno is one of my faves
Reminds me of why he was so successful. Classy, humble and funny.
This is a Great Vid… Does a drive-by… talks to the seller… makes an all in offer and winds up with a beautiful beach front home with a gaggle of precious antiques…. To add to one of the finest automobile collections in the World. Love that he’s sharing this collection as well! Atta Boy Jay!!
It's not beachfront property really. Rugged surf steals the sand probably trucked in yearly to create a private beach. I imagine Leno wearing those jeans and tee humorously supervising beach creation.
"Maybe it's a homing peacock." Funniest thing he's said in years, and she just completely ignores him.
The joke sailed right over her head.
He is still as witty as ever! So funny!
The "outdoor urinal" comment by Jay was funnier in my opinion, but I prefer gutter humor :)
He says funny stuff every week on Jay Leno's Garage. I think the funniest thing he's said in recent years was when he was showing his 1955 Buick Roadmaster, opened the massive trunk, and said, "A family of five used to live in here."
Antique appraisers aren't known for their humor. Dealers on the.other hand are Pirates at heart ❤️
Jay is always working. Nothing was given to him. Bless him that he wants to make his wife happy.
Congrat's JAY,,, YOUR The BEST EVER..
4:50 cool painting. the colours are remarkable. i was able to see all the marks to clean on my TV screen that are hard to pinpoint. so helpful.
You are such a relationship comic to all of us. One time during an audience interaction part of his show at his normal comedy club that he attends in Huntington Beach, California he said something in a story about our small hometown in Illinois- Galesburg. I said “silver streaks” and he made contact with me from 10 feet away and it just showed what a genuine person he is. If he reads this I know he would still Remember even though it was more than five years ago.
Jay, my favorite comedian. The reason is simple. He is such a down to earth kind of guy. Don't ever change, Jay. Love you and Mavis. 😇🙏❤️❤️❤️💞💞💞
This was fun. Thanks, Antiques Roadsho!!
EVERY King has his castle Jay your my king of comedy , always be blessed
Imagine being the caretaker of this awesome house.. Getting to live there 24/7/365 and Jay only shows up like ten days out of the year.. Lucky!
I’d like him to be there 365...✌🏼
Jay is a class act. I really enjoy seeing him in videos. He really loves old cars and has learned an incredible amount about them.
Awesome episode, thank you Jay for sharing your house with us, and all the stories, delicious!!!
A true Honest to Good Person… We need more Jay Leno’s:)
A homing peacock, lol. I laughed so hard I could hardly hold my phone still to enter this comment. It's brilliantly hilarious. It's just funny. Talk about vintage antiques, that's vintage Jay Leno.
I have travel many places in my life but to this day New Port has always been my favorite
Wish my knees would let me bike Ocean Drive again.
Wow I love jay leno so glad that I found him again
Jay has done well. Very well. He’s so nonchalant about the mansions, cars and paintings he’s acquired; but they are all treasures. His cars alone, wow. But this place is special.
What a fantastic story. A beautiful thing to do for his wife.
Jay Leno shits in a vase. Appraiser: "That vase has just tripled in value"
Wow, you're a class act, eh pardner?
LMAO I just laughed so hard I choked on myself
Please, the term we use in appraising is...defecates!
Oh no, you've cleaned it. The value just dropped by half, should have kept the original patina with the smudges intact.
Lmao
Besides The Breakers this has always been my favorite house. Many magical things happen in Newport. Like the return of the lovely peacock 🦚. A Mermaid 🧜♀️ must have been protecting the peacock 🦚 all those decades ago.
Shouldn't the mermaid be looking at a fork.
@@hopelewis5650 Mermaids don't have forks.
Good on this program for bringing jays comedy into it lots of fun
What Jay needs is a car engine fountain water feature at the entrance to give the place a little class.
Famously one of the hardest workers in the business and notably friendly to the public off-camera. His CNBC car shows have become important historic reviews of old cars. I'm told by friends in the service industry in Burbank he leaves 100% tips - good guy who deserves his success and the stuff that comes with it. I envy him this house - looks absolutely fantastic - but I don't begrudge him it at all. I *do* begrudge him his two Lamborghini P400S Miuras :)
"I am almost an antique myself" hahah Always loved Jay's sense of humor
Hehe. He's so funny. I loved the story of the runaway peacock who came back home again. And I LOVE the huge painting of the grape pickers.

WOW Jay CONGRATULATIONS Enjoy. My family LOVES your new show with Kevin Eubanks You bet your life. Both of you keep making us laugh.
An old friend of mine sold a classic Dodge muscle car to Jay Leno. Leno invited him to his famous “Jay Leno’s” garage in L.A. My friend was blown away by the collection, and about how down to earth Leno was. My friend has passed, but the story is special. RIP Robert.
