Jerry Seinfeld And Jay Leno Admire A 1958 Porsche 356 A Speedster | Jay Leno's Garage
"What got you into Porsche?" "Minimalism. That's why I bought 100 of them."
He is referring to the design style, of course.
You don't say?
@@grandcosmo I don't.
That's a Seinfeld level observation right there!
hahahahahahah
You know you have a true friend when he passes up a fantastic deal and lets you know about it so that you can buy it... Jay and Jerry... true friends!
Especially when that friend you gave the deal to considers it the "best find of my life".
IMO not really Jay is not into Porsches
@@NiteGambler but Jay does love wierdly optioned rare "best of" examples of anything especially ones with super low miles.
@@fixt100 not saying he doesnt like weird but Porsches are not his bag. He is more into "his" collection. You can tell when he interviews if he likes it or not. He's like Guy Fierrie. He likes your cooking he takes more than 1 bite. Your cooking sticks 1/2 a bite. I mean i owned a Lada Niva
@@NiteGambler - Jay likes Porsches and has some of them.
Love the comment Jerry makes "whatever free time I have, I want to talk about cars, look at cars, drive cars, read about cars.... Jay - "me too". Awesome to hear two absolute 'car guys', proclaim their love of the hobby. Completely resonates with car guys......
Have to admit, I really enjoy watching these two together talking about cars. They are the most genuine they can be sharing something they both love.
Right? I'd watch this video if it was 2 hours long
my 2 favorite comediens post 1980. I was really into comedy in the 70s, had woody allen and george carlin records, the best years of SNL, the most inspired comedy ever by Brits Monty Python and Marty Feldman. Since 80 kind of lost interest but Leno and Seinfeld were among the best, good to see their such freinds.
With two great comedians, how could anyone not like this video?
Great video and it's cool that these two are such car guys! Would love to hang out with them.
I love the look on Jay's face when Jerry says what's that old bit you have and then he tells it and Jarry busts out laughing... priceless lol
So true. You could see that Jay got pleasure from making him laugh.
These are great bits!!!
Brilliant. Love Seinfeld’s keys to driving. The right car on the right road on the right day in the right mood. Life is good for these guys, and they’ve earned it!
That unfunny Jew Is a Billionare !! I wonder why?
@@kattwills5441 Because he's funny. And not on drugs.
@@kattwills5441keep crying 😂
@kattwills5441 yeah, I honestly don't know why people think Jerry is funny...Larry David was the real genius behind Seinfeld.
Watching two dudes, two Bros, two *real* friends share an authentic giggle? Makes me miss those lazy 7th grade summers languidly riding my bmx, surrounded by the laughter, and uncomplicated friendship of early adolescence... More than that, it makes me feel *good.*
I only heard Jay giggle and only saw Jerry open his mouth. So, yeah I guess that qualifies as sharing.
Anything else these days would be "awkward" or "inappropriate". ;-p
One of the best of Commedians in Cars! Love the chemistry between Jerry and Jay!
That was an absolute joy to watch, great cars and blokes having fun.
7:52 "The key to driving, is having the right car, on the right road, on the right day, and being in the right mood." -Jerry Seinfeld Also applicable to motorcycle rides!
Absolutely true, especially about motorbike rides.
@joe jitsu What if you're driving a two seater lol
@joe jitsu might just have to try that in my Corvette.
I was gonna add: The right Co-pilot / Companion, but as joe jitsu says “The right Girl”. everything n alignment. I would add, “ a cool buzz”, but not while driving a priceless Speedster on a twisting, bendy road..
I live in Los Angeles, but I’m trying to figure out which canyon road that is..
That was the purest episode to date; on all levels. Thank you for sharing!
I got to do some mechanical restoration work on a one owner/family owned 62 Cabriolet. I fixed leaks, did a clutch/RMS, redid the linkages, and dealt with the dreaded 6V starting issues. It was the greatest feeling to drive and be one with the road. The sound. The feeling of floating down the road...nothing else like it. To listen to two car guys just explain in simple terms what it is drive and own these invaluable pieces of art is priceless.
These two are so great together.
They've known each other close to 4 decades.
They should've hosted top gear usa

I ship them.
Watching them laugh together is priceless
I was very pleased watching this show. I love the friendship and respect they both give each other. Two class acts.
The two of them are awesome together talking about Porsches! It is pure love!
These two men are 100% at ease in this episode
Real comedians with zero pretense, in a million dollar dirty old german car. I hope the modern world remembers how to be funny. I'm not even in my 40's and I have zero hope. Also, Jay's sunglasses bit is effing hysterical. Look , we can't even cuss on the internet any more. ZERO HOPE
@@bfeezey PLENTY of hope… There are still people like you making fun comments as well as people like Jay and Jerry to keep us entertained (hopefully some young comedians will get the memo…)
This is GOLD!
Gold Jerry.....Gold.
More like tin foil attach laugh track
I would love to see more of this two friends hanging and just cruising talking about cars. Love the show Jay
Jerry's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is also great.
Agreed
I've got to say, this is probably my favorite car video of all time. Two good friends, in the perfect example of a pure sports car, in its most ideal environment, just driving. I can't even be jealous, even though I'll never be able to afford one. The closest I came was my '71 914 in college. To me, it was driving perfection. I'll never forget how it felt to take it through turns, heel and toeing it. Thank you.
First time seeing this video...what great memories it brought back. In 1973 I was a poor college student and bought a 1969 Spitfire Mk3...by far the most fun car I have ever owned! There was a short in the steering column and every time I made a right turn...the horn would honk!!...lol...I was one of the most popular undergrad student on a campus...lol The drive back to my hometown was right at 400 miles...on a 9.9 gallon fuel tank...I couldn’t quite make it home. Because of this video and the memories it brings back...time to go buy another!!
I'm amazed at the quality of the paint of all of them, even this faded blue one, but especially that one that still shined and only had a few cracks in it, nothing peeling off. I realize they were kept in garages most of the time (and it shows just how important that is) but still, 60+ years is a long time. And that was 1950's paint technology. And likewise all other petroleum products: seats, seals, gaskets, adhesives, etc. All of that is disintegrating in my 1994 vehicle, even when a part was sheltered from direct sunlight, such as engine and transmission gaskets.
At 2:56 "it's a lot of cars and a lot of hairstyles" is a great line from this script! Greetings from Brazil.
Thank you Jay, love those Porsche!! They are absolutely gorgeous!!
I love watching Jerry and Jay talking they are both very smart guys.
Agreed
What an episode; two Classics, driving a classic! It don't get no better than that!
Why didn’t jay drive
My dad was fortunate enough to call a 356 his own as a younger man. That car has passed to another steward and my dad has since moved on to the next world in the years between, but I swear each time I'm fortunate to see one of these out in the world, and the enjoyment associated with it I can hear my dad sigh. I'm glad to see folks keeping these alive and keeping the folks who've loved driving them tuned in their hearts, minds, or clutch/shift dexterity. Plus Jay and Jerry are both comic gems cars or stage--thank you funny men!
Great episode! Truly captures what classic cars are all about bravo.
This is the best Jay Leno's garage i've ever watched, and i've seen a lot of them =) Those cars are just tremendous, and i'd have probably picked the speedster as well if given the choice. Jay and Jerry have great chemistry, probably because they're friends since forever =) Great episode guys!
"Ya know there are more horses now than there were during the Civil War." 😂
So cool I love jerry and I have watched every Seinfeld episode and having jay and jerry together is a dynamite team
Awesome time capsule in motion. Jay and Jerry are great together. As funny as they are individually, I think the laugh-o-meter goes up a tick when you put them side by side in a small space! Good times!
Great Video! I really enjoyed it. Two like-minded enthusiasts on a beautiful day in a spectacular setting.
The true friendship shines through after all these years
Always enjoyable to catch an episode of Jay's garage. I also find it interesting to read the envious comments below. Work hard and you too could own something you truly want.
Two icons and loveable gearheads. Love you guys.
I wish you guys had a weekly car show. I love you guys. Thank you.
it'd be TOO funny, BONUS-funny. We shouldn't get BOTH on any one show (car or otherwise).
I enjoyed that much more than I thought I would...
I agree
lol
One of my best memories of the 1960s was visiting my cousin in Boca Raton and riding in his Porsche Super 90. I love the old 356s.
the way the two act, talk and body lang., you could tell they are really good friends.
great episode hanging out with these two guys. really nice driving sequence, makes me want to go for a spin in my 2005 Buick.
did you ever end up going for a drive in your 05 buick??
@@troyminer7 No, have to wait for some nicer weather here, but planning a nice one soon, thx for asking.
How I missed watching this episode is beyond me! Wish the video was longer so I guess I'll just watch it a few times! Jay and Jerry thank you for making your car videos! :)
Three great classics!
Great chemistry you two. Your friendship shines through
Last time I was this early both these guys had top rated tv shows.
Love the bit about the shades - "But what does it look like now?!"
The mole, outta the blue, is better
It's funny because it's so true. That's exactly why I don't wear sunglasses.
@@chrisallot66 I wear shades, but as a photographer they're constantly on again/off again.
for that very reason that I don't wear any either :)
I do wear sunglasses, but I also take them off sometimes to see wha't it's like! A good comedian will tap into little insights like that.
Thanks for adding that seat for me. I laughed the whole ride!
Best License Plate! Showing some great Automotive Passion during these crazy times!
Makes me love my little blue Boxster even more....a very distant cousin here.
The working man's Porsche! (Or is it the working woman's Porsche?) Rather have my '55 Beetle.
Jay and Jerry; true friends who aren't afraid of getting exposed.
A wonderful aspect of original & unrestored cars that are well used and also in great condition, is the fact that they must have been deeply Loved by their owners to remain that way.
Reminds me of my best friend and I when we are together. Always bustin jokes and always a good time.
My dad had a term for original and unrestored, he would say " this car hasn't been molested"
@Alex Shaddup about it, it's embarrassing.
Everyone says that lol
Sounds like my dad would say 👌💪😂
It's a euphemism for junk. Kinda like cozy for a small house ;-)
Alex only around other adults.
I'm reminded of the old joke "Man! Leno must be rich. He has Jerry Seinfeld as his driver!"
Leno is rich. But Seinfeld is richer.
@@HungryH1951 ... they enjoy life and earn a living doing what they Love. Both are Wealthy beyond compare.😉

Great video. Can't wait for the next one! Love that Speedster.
The Porsche 356 is my dream car: it's got this "wind up toy" quality to it. It's the most German car ever built.
It's crazy to think these two guys together are worth almost 1.5 BILLION dollars...great success!
And they earned every penny. Didn't inherit it, didn't get like a government kickback, didn't scam someone into giving them money, didn't get it by criminal means, it really is money fairly earned. The people made them rich.
@R A R Get laid.
Two of the GREATS!! Work ethics & kindness intact👍🏻👍🏻. Hoping Mr. Leno's doing better.
Unbelievable show @ Jay and Jerry - really priceless all the way around. .
"Perfect podcast on a perfect day, in the perfect car, with the perfect hosts..." .
I'm so jealous of Jay's car collection. I'd love to go for a drive with him in any one of them.
You two could do an entire series in cars together and I’d watch every second!
I still get some laughs from this episode. Thanks Jay,and Jerry
One of my favorite episodes
"No Porsche for you Jay"..come back 1 year!
I could watch Jay with Jerry or with Tim Allen for hours!! All 3 are Masters at their profession(s)
i was thinking the same thing that tim allen was this caliber of guest too
Wonderful. Thanks Jay.
Jay is doing history such a service with these !!!
Jay, I love that you gave Jerry the shot at the Speedster! What a great friendship! Love both of you guys shows! Nice that you know him so well. So I was wondering, after seeing Jerry’s perfect zen control crack on one of his Comedians in cars getting coffee episodes, and a little explosive anger creep out, would you rather have Jerry or the Gotti Brothers coming after you to settle an old score!
My 2 favorite comedians. Love these guys.
LOVED this one Jay, cars are great but with a friend, its fantastic!
what an awesome video, true enthusiasts at heart.
I love it ! Jay is super cool when he drives around . I see him all the time riding around town. I honk and he always waves :)
Now this is what the show should focus on more often: Unrestored treasures.
Brilliant men with amazing loves for their passion
always fun to re-watch these on a Saturday morning with a coffee :)
Re-watched is again !!
Here I am one year later and was just about to type "that was a good episode! And I see that one year ago I wrote a very similar comment. I guess I'm sort of like myself.... Or maybe it's just "Jimcrackery!" :-)"
ahahah!
3:17. Clip from "Harper" starring Paul Newman. Great movie.
Best episode ever!
The value of that car and the gentlemen in it.... PRICELESS! Love all 3. That Car was built the same year I was. My '64 bug will have to do for me. Cheers!
This is just the most fun. Jay, can we get this show off the news channel equivalent of "ESPN 8, The Ocho?"
It's actually the best channel for financial news. And a good demo for this show.
I'm going to use "Jim Crackery" every chance I get from this day forward.

Jay: I absolutely love the Model X Doosie!
Love the way jay looks over at Gerry when he tells a joke, looking for that reaction,
Yes and jerry gives him a very good fake laugh
Beautiful Road!!!!
Love this show.
You can tell Seinfeld loves those cars as he won't let Leno drive them.
He did pick the one that was going to turn 100k. Maybe thats why.
I’d trust Jay Leno to drive an expensive car, over most people on earth. The guy lives and breaths cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. Leno is a bigger car guy than Seinfeld and he’s a huge car guy obviously.
Jerry never let's anyone drive...he's smart.

Jerry was "Introducing" himself outside to those in line , "Hi , I'm Jerry Seinfeld...Hi, I'm Jerry Seinfeld...ect." well it sure payed off! Huh Jerry? One of my fondest memories. le-ha'yim Jerome Seinfeld!

This video totally embodies why early porsches were magnificent! I've always loved them.
What an inspired point of view. I've felt this way about so many things.
You know what I love about this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage with Jerry Seinfeld? I love that this episode literally felt to me that I was watching Jerry’s show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but minus the Comedians getting coffee. Lol. I also agree with Jerry’s assessment of Porsches. If put all the Sports Cars, High Performance Cars, Hyper Cars together and compare them all to each other...Porsches would be one of the cars that would be the most simplistic and most minimalistic cars in its own unique ways, and at the same time it’s perfect in its own way as well. Because, when car enthusiasts looks at a Porsches, it just make sense to them.
If you remember, Jay had his first cup of coffee on that episode, which he disliked, and gave to Jerry to finish. They were also in a classic un-restored Porsche in CICGC.
I agree. More cars, less coffee.
I’m with Jerry on the “original as possible” cars. The only improvements I would make are whatever makes it safer and/or reliable (brakes, cooling, tires, etc).
Why isn’t jay driving
Wow what a beautiful old Duesenberg, every car that I've ever seen you around is really nice . Who couldn't love an old porch like that and then to have the both of you guys together Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld wow great video great car

I feel like "rattle and squeak" could be your prison names. I enjoy both of you guys.
Jerry - "To be a comedian today, you have to pour your guts out onstage, whatever your pain is…" Jay - "Or you know, you could just be funny."
Thats surprise for Seinfeld, who somehow managed to avoid jokes for entire career and still has a nerve to call himself a comedian. What a tool!
