No matter who you cheer for, DeSmith allowing a goal while the crowd chanted his name is pure comedy.
I was in the middle of saying to my partner "awww thats so nice" when they scored. lmao Even thinking back, I feel secondhand embarassment.
“Let’s go ca-sey! Ohhh”
Does he lead the league in letting in the first shot? It seems to me that he has done that three games in a row.
Yeah just wait until he gets into Nashville over the weekend... 😅 The Predators fan tradition will come and play

It was an indication of just how worried Canucks world was. I know it was meant to be encouraging but pointing out the situation, even in a positive manner, may have added to Casey’s anxiety. You do have to admit the humor in the situation, however.
It's bad juju. Same as starting the wave or taunting the other goalies name when you're only up one.

Preds fan here. People are saying that this was the Preds game plan, but if it was, it was one of pure desperation. We don't ever play this way, the Canucks are just bigger, faster, more skilled, etc. We usually win the grind on the boards, and we push that grind into the O zone, turning it into more advantages ,and keeping our top line scoring in the mix. We're just outclassed in this series, you can tell how hard it is for us to keep up. I guess give the coach some credit, if he's found a way to win then I'm fine that it's ugly
Ugly wins still count especially in the playoffs
I guess the ugly wins are what we need in this series sometimes they have to change the way they play to accommodate to the way the other team is playing so it makes sense. But it obviously isn’t the way they usually play and I don’t know if it’s substantial.
This is my take too. Yeah they got the win, and it was a gutsy win. But there is absolutely no way this is their actual gameplan lol.
Also preds fan here. That game was really hard to watch. We are outclassed. Hopefully we look sharper in Nashville
@@radicalraggamuffin third period especially was hard to watch somehow we held in there though
Wild how dejected Canucks fans are after one game. They outplayed Nashville by a large margin, at times Nashville was barely hanging on. Canucks didn’t get the bounces and Nashville did.
The combination of Demko being out and the ugliness of this game. Was major whiplash in emotions from the previous game. The fans will support. I think some are concerned this team is a little too inexperienced for the playoffs. The lack of composure is showing.
It's DeSmith looking like an AHL call-up and...well... Petterson being absolutely useless. It's dejecting when your best player shouldn't be in the lineup.
Demko officially week to week, an absolute dagger to the Canucks playoff run. They can definitely beat the Preds with DeSmith, but they’re not making it past round 2 without Demko. Painful that it plays out this way.
Or they’ll lose to the Predators
With DeSmith in net, they'll be lucky to get another win. The dude kicks out rebounds like his pads are made of rubber.
@@scrawnyrapierguyIt's the defense's job to collect or clear rebounds

I picked NSH in my bracket. Not because I don't like VAN, but simply because NSH is one of those grizzled teams, that find ways to win these types of series. Vancouver, it's their first time to the playoffs in like, 8 years or so, iirc? They're gonna have some growing pains to go through. NSH or VGK, either one, was a god awful option for them to face in the first round. They would have been better off giving the division to EDM, and facing the LAK in the first round, imo anyways. Would've been a better team to get acclimated to the playoffs again, and should they survive their encounter, would be a bit more grounded for whoever they faced next. Facing Nashville in the first round, was far from ideal. I took NSH in 6, and well, I have a feeling I may be right. Even game 1, if it went on another 5 minutes, Nashville could have likely come back in that one too, not having to cough up the empty netter. Vancouver's first win, was not exactly "convincing". Time will tell though. I would prefer to see Vancouver win, but, I don't pick based on who I want to win, but who I think will win.
Vancouver was in playoffs for the bubble they lost in round 2 game 7 to Vegas it’s been 9 years since they had playoff hockey in front of fans

Did you just start watching the channel or are you joking?
@@mr.brenman2132I think he’s joking
It's the most obvious joke I've ever read. Come on guys.
I'm also not putting this solely on DeSmith, but regardless of whether they play differently in front of him, they will DEFINITELY play differently after falling behind on the first shot against (regardless of whether DeSmith should have had it or not).
There's no way that didn't get in every single player's head after finding out that their star goalie was out midway through game day. Especially since DeSmith has had some hot and cold games, and the cold games got REALLY cold heading into the playoffs. I think with more time to process it, things might be different in the next game. Plus, I think DeSmith MIGHT benefit from playing on the road where he'll be a little bit more free to just play a game, rather than feeling the weight of the crowd on him (despite everyone's good intentions).
Full credits to Nashville for their team commitment to shot blocking and just laying the bodies infront of pucks and sticks in the lanes. I don't think DeSmith cost the Canucks the game, but I don't think he has been a solution either. It does feel like right from the puck drop, the Canucks team were trying to do too much to overcompensate the absence of Demko and it got back fired. The first Nashville goal was a weird bounce, but it was a result of Quinn Hughes fumbling the puck and missing the pass in the offensive blueline, rush goes back the other way and he also fell down in his own zone led the Preds possession which eventually lead to that weird bounce goal. It just seems to me the Canucks are grippign their sticks a little too hard and they aren't as calm as they were in Game 1. Demko is now out week to week, so this is not a good news for the Canucks as they will have to learn how to play in these situations without their starting goalie to rely on.
No Demko and nothing from EP40 for ages, but not a whole lot from Boeser either in quite a while. Not to mention a guy like Mikheyev albeit expectations are not the same. Lindholm needs to perform like in game 1. The depth that should put Vancouver ahead of Nashville isn't really there.
Lets go Preds. Only got to watch the 11 minute recap. But, that was awesome.
It’s a late game it’s understandable to only watch the recap
Why doesn’t Hronek hammer the puck anymore. He had a bunch of one timer chances and stopped the puck then passed it or shot a wrister into someone’s shin pads. There were lots of own timer chances but they wouldn’t pull the trigger. Way easier to block shots when the shooter waits for you to get into the lane. Don’t be busy - be productive.
Shooting 1x from good point positions , with everyone else going tonthe net hard is the time proven cure for an ailing powerplay. KISS it baby!
How many players on Nashville have gold icepack or have icepack as their x factor
Has Pettersson just completely disappeared during these first two games? He seems like a ghost out there.
He can't hit the net, and can't defend lately. He's a waste of money right now.
@@scrawnyrapierguy He's definitely just gotten completely in his head. He wants to be a game changer and it's changed HIS game. He'll figure it out, but will he figure it out before it's too late? Tough to say. It is possible! Maybe getting on the road will be good for him.

How when Canucks have been the better team statistically in both games LOL
Preds just wanted it more IMO, the blocked shots really showed it
Granted the series is only two games in and tied 1-1, I didn’t have high expectations the Canucks would get out of round one this year. Not taking anything away from them as they’re incredibly talented and they had a great season but their core doesn’t have a lot of playoff experience which is incredibly important. Teams that win cups typically (not always) have a progression where they have 2-3 seasons where they take their lumps in round one or two before figuring out a formula for success. That’s why some teams at the deadline go for the big name players available while the more experienced GM’s address their weaknesses even if it’s a few guys that might not wow their fanbase.
I’d hate for the Canucks amazing season to come to an end just because their goalie gets hurt

@@deathgrinderb3284that’s correct. Preds are the least worst option of the 3 possibilities between LA, VGK, and Nashville. That in no way means that it’s supposed to be an easy series. canucks seemed to fall short a bit there, not even talking about desmith
That 1st goal was entirely on desmith. He def cheated on that one. Lunging way to far to the left . Where the dman shot it from the right.
As a goalie you should be positioned fro where the shot got fired from. He lunged out of the way before the dman even fired it off. If he stay where he was . He would have saved it. If he didnt lunged it to cheat before the puck got there. It would of hit the dman and bounced away from the net.

The Canucks have played with the lead SO MUCH this season. They're probably first in the league in scoring first in a game.
I went to this game last night. Really unlucky bounce to start but i honestly dont think this game was a huge goalie diff. Petey had this game on his stick and he choked. The crowd was furious watching him play last night. he needs to earn that $12 million contract this series.
After watching that game, I think saying Vancouver doesn't have a great chance without Demko is a wild take. If the Canucks continue to play like that, it will be hard to lose the series. I know they have let you down in the past, but that is an interesting take.
I honestly think while it wasn't really Casey's fault, that first goal going in DURING a go-casey chant after the GAME DAY news that Demko was likely out for the series... it was like a dagger to the heart of every Canuck and Canuck's fan. Nashville couldn't have hoped for better than that. Now, I don't think the series is over, by a long shot, but I DO think that, combined with DeSmith kicking out some major rebounds, and the fresh memories of DeSmith struggling down the stretch (along with the Canucks struggling down the stretch) is filling a lot of hearts with dread.
Hey Preds fans! Does there exist a jersey with the front logo as the skull shoulder logo from past years? I'd hella buy one of those. That logo is rad.

Ok, I recovered enough to watch this review...
I have no enthusiasm with Demko out. It'''s a wrap
yep, Demko would have stopped at least 2 if not 3 of those goals. Freaking Desmith. . . does he think any team will sign his "can't stop a beachball" posterior nest year? Well... maybe Philly.
@@scrawnyrapierguy I'm not even trying to hate on DeSmith I just don't think this team can overcome not having Demko. Not all the way to 16 wins anwyays.
First period the Canucks won every battle but the scoreboard. Second period was sloppy. Third period Canucks went back to running the whole game. Just couldn’t capitalize, and the preds were fearless blocking those shots.
Van were squeezing sticks so tight last night they could have opened their own lumberyard. I've rarely if ever seen a team O frustrate and neuter ITSELF like that ( as opposed to a G just stonewall you or an opposing team just do a great job of neutralizing you). The decision making and accuracy of passes was terrible, the finishing was tense and terrible. I could go on.
I picked the Canucks to win the cup in my playoff bracket. Please tell me Demko is coming back...
Canucks are exposed for their weakness in goal. Never rely on one good goalie
So 80% of the league has a weakness in goal because they don't have two elite goaltenders? 😂
This series is giving me Tampa without Bishop in 2014 vibes.
Honestly of course Vancouver is back to goaltender woes to hold back a legendary team from the cup…
The Preds shot blocking is a good short term tactic, but 2 or 3 games shot blocking is going to cause injuries if they haven't any from tonight's game
Exactly as a Preds fan they can’t do that every game it eventually just won’t work because they are so bruised up
There were at least two Ref you suck chants by my count, since we like pointing it out when it happens
Demko or not Vancouver did not score on their chances and had unlucky bounces. Nashville had some luck and Foresberg buried on his best chance of the night.
Nashville, like LA, know they aren’t supposed to win. That’s a mental advantage.
It seem to me the Canucks were trying to get it to Pettersson to often instead of playing the game.
LOL... lately Petterson couldn't hit the ocean if he jumped out of a boat.
Plenty of THG'er Vancouver fans packing it in (comments) after one loss. Two nights ago, the Canucks were an automatic to the finals.🤦♂
You know it's (for the most part) not the same fans. Every sports team has their doomers that come out of the woodwork after a loss.
Canucks I think need to try and be more creative with desmith in net and open up the game more. And hopefully out score them instead
Canucks should have traded Pettersson and Lindholm when they had the chance. Now Canucks are gonna have to trade Demko too. No point in having a #1 who is never available, especially when you need him most, like the entire last half of the season for example
Little surprised to hear you think the series is lost without Demko tbh...i mean cmon the boys gotta score goals to win & Casey cant score goals, i dont think Casey will lose the series for us but losing Demer is huge i dont dislute that but we doubled the Preds chances & offensive zone time. Anyways, i always enjoy your recaps just putting in my 2 cents. Canucks arent don't yet!! Go Nucks
I agree. Casey has a ton of skill if he can find his game. He actually played alright last night as well. I think people just haven't processed the loss of Demko yet.. and a combo of factors kept the Canucks from overcoming it. But we watched this team overcome a lot this year, and I think it's silly to give up hope already!
2 posts and one side of the net could have been completely different.
I'm not sure what game Pettersson and most of the other Canucks are playing, but it isn't hockey. If they can't come back from Nashville 2-2, the season is over.
Every goalie plays the crease differently.
Ottawa Senators didnt let Hockey Happen this season either haha
You don't think they can win if Demko returns? Really? The Canucks absolutely dominated this game, if Petterson buries his 2 open net chances it's a completely different game. Goaltending had next to nothing to do with this loss. Usually I agree with you Shannon, but in this case I think Canucks still have a great chance if they can show some finish. Round 2 though? They're gonna need Demko.
