1985-86 Boston Celtics Record: 67-15, 40-1 record at home
Absolutely the best!
i believe the following year they didnt lose one home game.
@@handytbutler7380 86-87 Celtics were 59-23. 39-2 home record 20-21 road record.

THEREFORE IF BIRD & MCHALE'S INJURIES HADN'T HAVE DETERRED THEM JUST ENOUGH THAT THE LAKERS WHO BARELY EDGED THEM IN THE 86-87 FINALS MOST PROBABLY WOULD NOT HAVE PREVENTED MY CELTICS FROM REPEATING AS NBA CHAMPS RIGHT?

As a die-hard Lakers fan the fact that the '86 Celts aren't on here makes this list moot
It's doesn't, it makes it one you disagree with 🙂

Facts
Exactly you're right and I'm a pistons fan but we learned from the celtics how to win this video is whacked!!👎👎
No way. List doesn't include the 85-86 Celtics, automatic disqualifier. I'm a diehard Lakers fan and can concede that easily. Easily make the list in front of the 91-92 Bulls. My top 5 in order: 95-96 Bulls, 86-87 Lakers, 85-86 Celtics, 00-01 Lakers, 15-16 Warriors. Reason #4 and #5 on my list aren't higher is because of bench depth. Those first three could go 10-11 deep on any night.
Disqualified from what? It's just someone's opinion not a competition 🤣
That is a very good list! I'm a Boston Celtics fan.. I have zero issues with this top five!
@@joelluongo7419 Everyone would likely have a different list, what's your favourite ever team Joel?
I endorse this list, with bench depth being the deciding factor. I'd offer one caveat: maybe we should have separate lists for the NBA from, say, 1950 to 1980, and then 1980 to the present. The game changed significantly in the 80s, which was defined by the Lakers - Celtics rivalry.
My sentiments exactly. Any list without the 85-86 Celts, simply isn't!
2014 Spurs, 1986 Celtics.
Damn straight!
Take out the 91-92 Bulls and plug in the 85-86 Celtics. Then this list will be accurate
AI straight butchering those names. Damn. And the 1986 Celtics should replace the first bulls team at #3. That team was insane good.
The Bird-led 1985-86 Celtics need to be on here.
86' Celtics belong somewhere in that list. Also the 00-01 Lakers were better than the Golden State team and so were the 94' Rockets. Accolades don't tell the whole story.
True enough, maybe we need a Top 10...
@@thesportingblog23 I think you also missed out the 1972 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers team their regular season record was 69-13 and had a 33 regular season winning streak.

I am a life long Laker fan myself and I TOTALLY agree. The 1986 Celtics were scary. I knew the Lakers had no shot that year. And yeah, what about the 72 Lakers?
League was small back then with less games and talents. That 50’s Celtics would get smoked by the 8 seed today.
72/73 Lakers. 33 straight wins, and won the championship. This guy is a HACK.
@bradbruhn9586 `61/`62 CELTICS. Sharmans last season. `66/`67 6ers w/WILT/GREER. 68 &13. The 1971/72 Lakers had the 33 game winning streak.

1986 Celtics, 1972 Lakers, everyone else is looking up at these two teams.
Parish, kevin Mchale, Larry Bird, Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge. Best line up

86 Celtics. Bird, Parish, McCale, Denis Johnson, Danny Ainge and Bill freakin Walton off the bench!!!! Not a team on your list would have beaten them.

85-86 Celtics should have been on the list.
The 80's was the best and most competitive decade in NBA history. The 96 Bulls were #1, but the 86 Celtics and 87 Lakers were the next two. The Warriors were great but modern basketball isn't nearly as intense.
Ain't that the truth!
I think the 1971 -1972 NBA champion the LA Lakers should have been also included here. They have a 69-13 regular season record and 33 regular season games winning streak.
Good suggestion Erwin!
Best Lakers team hands down. The 1980s saw the great Showtime Laker teams, but they weren't AS great.
Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. Need you say more?
@@atgdcommish608 They only had Elgin for a few regular season games that season - and he was NOT much of a contributor by then, which is WHY he retired early in the season. You are also ignoring Jim McMillan and Gail Goodrich - who were contributing about as much as Jerry, and more on the offensive end (but less on the defensive end) than Wilt. IN FACT, Gail was the #1 scorer of that team that season (by .1 PPG over Jerry) - though Jerry dominates assists and outrebounded Gail some (Wilt DOMINATED the rebounding of course!). Elgin had an absolutely great career - but was NOT a significant contributor to that team due to the accumulation of injuries over his career and his resulting early-season retirement.

82-83 76ers...65-17...12-1 playoffs...NBA Champs...enough said.
Best Team EVER - The 1985-86 Boston Celtics season was the 40th season of the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). They finished with the best record in the league at 67-15, including a 40-1 record at home (37-1 at the Boston Garden, 3-0 at the Hartford Civic Center). Those 40 home wins set an NBA record which would only be matched by the San Antonio Spurs in 2016. Widely regarded among the greatest teams in NBA history, their 67 total wins were one win shy of tying their franchise record of 68 wins set in 1972-73, and tied for seventh all-time for total wins by a team in a single season. Larry Bird won his third consecutive MVP award and Bill Walton won the Sixth Man of the Year Award. The team was anchored by the "Big Three" frontcourt of Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, which is frequently ranked among the best frontcourts in NBA history. In the playoffs, the Celtics swept the Chicago Bulls( MJ never defeated Bird as a player) in three games in the First Round, then defeated the Atlanta Hawks in five games in the Semi-finals, before sweeping the Milwaukee Bucks in four games in the Conference Finals to reach the NBA Finals for a third consecutive season. In the NBA Finals, the Celtics faced off against the Houston Rockets in a rematch of the 1981 NBA Finals, which the Celtics won in six games.
I'd take the 86 Celtics in a 7 game series against any of those guys
@victorhiggins2118 No argument there, as well as that 1983 6ers team. I`d giv the edge to BOSTON.
The fact that the 2014 spurs are not here is insane. They played the most beautiful basketball in nba history, and won the championship. They literally beat Miami with aging players. Put some respect on the Spurs
Nice suggestion - will feedback to the author!
I do agree one of those spurs teams should be considered. I'm not sure the 2014 team was the best one
The 2014 finals was an absolute clinic.

Whenever a statement is made with a top 5 teams, or the best at whatever it maybe, it will be questioned, especially when the statistics don't support that statement. I question it because it left off the 1967 Philadelphia 76ers who won 69 games and went on to win the NBA Title that year. The 1972 LA Lakers also won 69 games during the regular season and the NBA Title. The only teams to exceed those two teams where the 1996 Chicago Bulls with 72 wins and a NBA Title, and the 2016 Golden State Warriors which won a record 73 games, but lost in the NBA Finals.
