My brother worked as a NYC cop for an entire year in downtown Manhattan, following the 9/11 attacks. Dave had an apartment in that area and was extremely generous in providing a great deal of fine food and drinks for all of the first responders. He also visited with them and thanked them for their work. Made a point in keeping this quiet and without any publicity, as is his way. A real class act.
I love how these two regard each other. Sincerity and true affection.
Classic. I've always loved Dave for keeping it real. Great to see him and Jimmy together.
I haven't seen Dave be this alive and engaged in front of a TV crowd in a decade. Class act by Jimmy to share the reins.
The mutual respect from these two is refreshing and heartwarming.
Surreal experience seeing David Letterman in front of an audience late night. Dave still has it. And he is so right...Jimmy knocked it out of the park with the Oscars!!!
I just love Dave's dry, sarcastic, self-depricating style of humor ... too funny
Jimmy’s excitement is beyond control. Showing much respect and love to his mentor. Good humans
Jimmy is so happy and giddy to have his idol there
Hearing Dave for the first time in so long really makes me realize how much I’ve missed him.
It's nice to see Jimmy so geeking over getting to spend time with an icon for him.
Now that's some good guesting right there.
Jimmy being beyond himself and clearly enjoying his friend and mentor is really heart warming to see.
Missing David Letterman, love his humor, his presence in the prime time late night show.
I've been watching Dave since the early 70's when he was the late night and stand-in weatherman on Channel 13 in Indinanpolis, and then he got a Saturday night slot showcasing movies and entertaining between segments. I love his humor, and I'm glad to see his success. I've been watching Jimmy since early in his career too. Two great guys!
Dave was not so much a guest but a co-host; he and Jimmy were interviewing each other. Love to see the affection they clearly have for each other.
Two of the greatest on one screen. Love to you both for all the smiles you've instigated over the years!
I just cannot love Dave and Jimmy’s interactions any more than I do. Jimmy wears his heart on his sleeve and it’s refreshing to see genuine emotion from a television personality; Dave on the other hand is a class act and clearly shares a mutual respect for Jimmy and his career trajectory. I genuinely think there’s a hint of truth when Dave tells him he’s like a son to him.
Dave's sharpness is a huge example for everyday stability for success no matter what you do. How important he is to pop culture and New York as city image is beyond my admiration, I feel privileged being able to see his shows and heard his name mentioned in so many different shows or publications. No wonder he is Jimmy's childhood idol!
