      @weiyang6417@weiyang6417 Жыл бұрын
    • Never ever thought Jay was funny. Joan Rivers, who was very funny stand up for like 50 yrs and fantastic guest host, said the same thing about Jay...and Conan. She said neither of them are funny. Yes, Jay is witty but his one-liner jokes never made me laugh nor did he ever make me crack a smile during interviews. Lots of great comics (including Dave) said Jay was one of the best. I think its because he told jokes in the old tradition maybe? He just wasn't relatable to me either. By the way, I just saw Daves first tonight show appearance. Not impressive and pretty off color wrt immigrants. He made it to the couch and impressed Johnny bit csnt imagine Dave would be very proud of it in retrospect.

  • Judging from the comments here, I think it's safe to say that there is a massive amount of love for Dave! I watched him from the very beginning on NBC, through the years at CBS...never missed a night! His comedic timing is unmatched (even still!), and his humanity when the world was suffering from some tragic moment, always touched your heart. He set the late-night bar very high over those years, and only a rare few have come close to meeting that mark. Thank you so much for this interview...I only wish it could have gone on for hours instead of minutes. Love you, Dave...always will! ♥

  • From about 1982-87 Letterman’s Late Night show was consistently groundbreaking. A different kind of humor that was actually making fun of show business. Absurdist humor with Chris Elliot, Larry Bud Melman, etc. Plus taking the show outside the studio. It is hard to imagine many things funnier than Letterman working a drive thru, etc. Many things from this show combined to influence a lot of people.
