I love how Jeremy tries to convince himself that the producers wouldn’t be so evil that they would use an actual rifle to shoot them, and then he remembers who he’s talking about.

stupid joke since Poland has 1100 tanks and that is two times more than UK and germany have together. brits has less than 80 tanks in service and without Poles brits would speak german, since Poles cracked Enigma and Polish fighter pilots defended UK.

Fun fakt, James comitted a crime as it is illegal to run out of fuel on the Autobahn. Well Technically not directly. Stopping on the autobahn on the safelane without good reason is illegal and running out of fuel isnt considered a valid reason as every (I think) 50km there is a gas Station. 50km is the distance you will usually get with a reserve fuel.
It is spelled faCt not "fakt"
@@canbat03 sorry my autocorrect is German and corrected the English fact with the German Fakt.
Well at least theres a gas station every 50km
@@canbat03 German tends to use K to represent hard C's rather than agglomerate hard and soft C's like English does. For instance, Germans would spell "Cereal" with the regular C, but "car" with a K

69th like, finally.
4:00 when i get too excited and nervous at the same time
if i was handed that challenge i would immediately start cheating by ripping out all the seats in my car
+Dami Nooki ha ha ha
The seats don't make a huge difference in holding the speed. Turn off the lights and air conditioner and you change a lot.
Dami Nooki Each seat of an Audi TT weighs 23,5kg with seat heating. The seats of my car weigh about 30kg and they are really old. And as you have to adjust the seits to every side, they can't just weigh 250kg each. Also, a standard car weighs about 1.2-2 tonnes in total, which is mostly the iron from the engine and body. On the other hand, if you drive a tank, they probably weigh a tonne. But I'm not even sure with that. And even if your seats would weigh a tonne, it wouldn't make a huge difference to the outcome as they were driving at a constant speed. The friction isn't that much higher and the inertia only matters at acceleration/decelleration, so it would only matter if you brake a lot due to the traffic.
Dami Nooki 100kg (or let's say 200kg if they are extremely heavy) don't matter a lot, as they are still driving at constant speed. It's like if you add 0.5-1kg to a bicycle (considering) and drive a constant speed. It won't matter a lot.
Dami Nooki No, still it wouldn't. The time you lose would be better spent driving slower.
the german/polish jokes never get old
Until you are polish :D
Just like the people from that era
@@soldadoryanbr7776 oooof
I love that hearty chuckle between 2 friends at the end there.
They could have turned south and headed towards Prague...
+Charles Yin right, no? If they drove south from Colditz and via Chemnitz they would have hit the Czech border after about 70 miles, so why did they go to Poland?
Irony I'm guessing.
+Freeman perhaps it is because Germany had already invaded Czechoslovakia before the war started and the Allies accepted it, but made an agreement with Germany (which Germany broke) that they were not to invade Poland.
ui
*UPHILL*
I love this video... BUT there is one HUGE problem with it. The nearest border from Colditz (the origin point) is not in Poland but in the Czech Republic. You can even see it on the map in 1:18. A quick search on Google Maps shows that travel between Colditz and Görlitz (by car) is 1 hour and 56 minutes. Meanwhile, going to the nearest town in the Czech Republic from Colditz (Hora Svatého Šebestiána) is 1 hour and 31 minutes. In other words, the Top Gear Crew could have saved 20 minutes of precious time and a great deal of fuel getting to the Czech Republic, but instead nearly lost their lives in Germany for a precious WWII meme.
Well, if it was for "WWII Czech republic" (called protectorate Bohemia and Moravia), the actual border would be much more further into the area of contemporary Czech republic, near Roudnice nad Labem, making it probably the same distance (or longer) as to Poland.

The joy these guys had and it was real. I really miss them on Top Gear. I guess, because I don't watch the show anymore
Rikster 675 If I’m honest, the grand tour is way better and they are free to do as they please, they are way more naturally funny in it.
Me, too! These three new guys are nice people for sure. But they are as funny as 5m railway. 😞😒 So I prefer watching old episodes here. And dream of the good old times. 😉🤭

0:10 you can see Jeremy's left eye twitching while converting liters to gallons
2:09 Pointless trivia: having the litres on the fuel gauge rather than just "0 1/2 1" or even "Empty Full" is very rare.
For some reason I found it hilarious when Jeremy and James were both laughing hysterically at Hammond
It's quite amazing how these three guys make a rather mundane challange so entertaining. Love the banter as such
Hey isn't the Czech Republic closer to Colditz than Poland?
It is, but otherwise it was sure they would make it. Going to Zgorzelec means there is a chance of not reaching it.
Farmer McCow Besides, it would mean going from Germany to Poland... and you know what that means.
yes it is I actually live rather close to Colditz and with some knowledge of the area this challenge would had been easy, however just going for the Czech Republic does not necessary present the better option because it would mean going through some rather mountainous terain
..... I'm afraid they're not legal there lol probably

I love these episodes! I hope I can do these with a few friends one day!
2:22 foreshadowing
I love when Jeremy and James laugh at the end. Even if Top Gear is (mostly) scripted, this bit felt genuine.
Most of their laughing in genuine. I love that about these 3 - just 3 good mates
I wonder what would happen if they went in a Trabant, a wartburg and a FSO?
Wouldn't be as funny as reliant robins!
quite right.
They would overheat?
FSO would make it, because it was the fastest from these cars... And then fall into pieces.
QuasarBarkas FSO guy would be the fastest since FSO had world record in long distance fast driving back in the days.

4:20 "Goodbye old-boi"
I like that, 3 charming men ( obviously one is more like a jerk than the 2 others but his company is still appreciated), challenging themselves in funny ways all around the world, lots of stories to tell, British humor, nonchalant attitude. That top gear show was purely a piece of British spirit in our sad modern days ! Absolutly love it
Thanks for uploading this because this was not on the episode (series 15 episode 2) it was supposed to be on because they didn’t have enough time to show it. :)

The look on Jeremy's face when he read "Poland" is too funny. I miss this kind of banter.
Will nobody else point out that they used "Renegade Attack" from the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars OST starting at around 1:14 here? I mean, they used part of Halo Reach's OST in another episode, and people seemed to recognize _that._
They also used the time attack music from NFS The Run once. Or was that on The Grand Tour?
When I first heard "they'd be shot", I thought they would legit get shot.
Wait it doesnt mean that?
This was such a great bit, it's a shame it wasn't in the original episode when it broadcast because of time constraints.
"Goodbye old boy" lool
Funny thing is, if you look at a map, the Czech Republic is only 113 KM away from Colditz, the town that they went to is 179 KM away. Then again, the Czech Republic back then was Czechoslovakia (known in Germany as the Sudatenland), and it was annexed then invaded in 1939 by Germany. So if it were 1945, the shortest route out of Germany would have been to Poland.
Top gear was what The Grand Tour can never be.
