  • Hi Mary, Looking up recipes for "Butter of the Gods" brought me here - the information you cheerfully dropped at 4:50 made me a fan for life! CLA you say? Well, well, well🤩 I got so excited I had to stop to check the price of soft gel CLA capsules, then I got even more excited by your recipe. I'm so happy right now I'm not even sad your video wasn't the first on how to roast bone marrow, I came in at the Guga Foods door which introduced me to bone marrow past my vague memories of having heard of but never eaten Osso Bucco. If I had seen your video first I wouldn't have just tried roasting bone marrow for the first time and adding chopped garlic that almost burned in spots... I'll start all over again with your recipe. The nutritional info you share is missing in the food channels I like. So glad I found your channel and subscribed! I feel like I've just upped both my foodie and health game.

    • @@MarysNest Sweetness Mary - While we're on the topic making bone broth. I have exhausted everything that I can peruse on internet. Making beef bone broth without all the vegetables and other ingredients. Zero. Nothing that I can find on making beef bone broth with no vegetables. This is my preference method of making it. Reason for drinking without vegetables is because vegetables contain traces of carbs and other vitamin and mineral nutrients. I don't want it mixed together. If you follow my drift. Besides I'm already loaded with vegetables on my regular consumption diet. I only want the concentrated connective tissues, bone marrow, tendons, collagen, and etc. into my body. I'm not concern about being tasty or bland. It's going to hydrate and saturate my body full of collagen in its purist form. Anyway that's my thinking!!! I have a question? When preparing the beef bones. Is it necessary you boil the bones under submerge water for a few minutes? Then immediately skim the impurities floating on top. Then quickly pull the bones out and it brown in the oven. Or bypass and go straight browning it in the oven? Thank you Sweetness Mary and God Bless!----- one more thing! I got a no grain bread recipe for you. Guarantee you'll love it and maybe that you so like it. You'll make an video on it.

Can I literally use the bones/ marrow to make the broth on it's own, or would I need to add in other bones and such? They arrived in super long bones not cut down, so I'm not really sure what to do with them! Many thanks

  • For people on Keto or Carnivore - bone marrow is delicious in a confit. I love it in chicken confit. The confit can just be eaten with a spoon no need for bread or crackers. It's such a great idea for when you are hungry in the evening, just one spoon full settles the ghrelin back down, does not raise insulin, digests quickly and causes no gastric reflex.

  • Just ordered my marrow bones and the bones bones for the beef broth and chicken broth. I have been saving my produce skins and such which is something I always did anyway so that wasn't a change for me as I make vegetable broth and freeze it. Thank you for the promo code and that website has incredible stuff. I was like a kid in a candy store. I ordered so much other stuff and got carried away. They didn't have deer meat though. I need it for my dog who believe it or not is allergic to chicken, beef, pork, fowl and can only eat deer meat. Anyway now that I have seen what they have I will be going there for all sorts of things from now on. Thank you for your videos, your information and explanations and opinions. Thank you for changing my life when it comes to my health. I ordered my elderberry syrup ingredients to make syrup this fall but unlucky me broke the jar lid and glass was inside all over the berries. Didn't want to tr to pick each and every berry clean so I had to toss it. Ordered more. The Hibiscus flower has such an incredible aroma and since I will have much left over I was wondering if you have any suggestions on what I can use them for in other tonics or syrups. Long comment but I tend to babble

    • Hi Elizabeth! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. It was a delight to read!! I am SO sorry about your elderberry syrup! Oh yes, the Hibiscus Flowers are wonderful. And if you have extra they make an amazing ice tea! And you have inspired me to make some videos about more tonics, etc. I'll do my best! :-) Love, Mary

  • I pulled a marrowbone out of my bone broth today and I tried it. GAME CHANGER!! I CAN'T WAIT TO ROAST IT I CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE THROWN IT OUT FOR AS LONG AS I HAVE...

  • I just love bone marrow! My mother used to save it for me from the shanks she used when she made beef soup. I made bone broth again this week and the butcher only had the long ones this time so I was ver careful when I pulled the bones from the broth to save the marrow. I will roast it a bit all by itself and enjoy it with saltines crackers and toasted French bread. So glad my husband thinks it’s gross. He doesn’t know what he’s missing!!! But more for me!! BTW,I tried to re use all the bones for a second time and it was tasteless, not at all like the first one. so what I did was that I added about a cup from the first batch which was incredible, condensed it down a lot and froze it in ice cube trays, then when fully frozen I put them in freezer bags to use when I deglaze a pan and make a yummy sauce by adding some wine or brandy. And oh I almost forgot, I didn’t have enough Marsala for the first batch of bone broth so i topped the cup with brandy. OMG that was te best bone broth I’ve ever made!!

  • This is an interesting video, I've always wanted to know how to use bone marrow. But what I've tried so far, the marrow tastes metalic-like, not even close to yummy? It was baked and I was expecting that butter like taste and was sadly disappointed. But, will try it again using your method here, although with my fingers crossed:) Thanks Sweet Mary!

  • Can anyone answer my question? I was trying to make a broth, but the marrow ( greyish and white) came out. Do I take it out and continue simmering? It doesn't seem to dissolve.

  • You can eat the bone meat on the outside of the bone marrow,correct?

    @college271@college2712 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, but those are usually referred to as "shanks" and need to be cooked differently. Plain marrow bones should have the meat stripped off of them and that is what you would want to use here. Love, Mary

    • Hi Cathie, Thanks so much for visiting! Yes, what you don't eat will need to be refrigerated and then reheated before eating. It will stay fresh in the fridge for about 2-3 days. BTW - Do you enjoy learning about making traditional foods? I have a playlist of my videos titled "Mastering the Basics of Traditional Nutrient Dense Foods Cooking". It's a series of 15 detailed videos that covers How to Make Bone Broth, Cultured Dairy, Ferments, Sourdough Starter (my foolproof stater), Sourdough Bread, and How to Soak and Sprout Grains to Make your own Sprouted Flour at Home. It’s listed on the main page of my KZhead channel “Mary’s Nest” (Sorry to not put a direct link but I don't think YT likes us to put links in comments. The playlist is on the the front of my main YT page.) Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm so happy to help! And I’m so glad you’re here!! Love, Mary…PS - Do you know about our FB group? • How high are they in fat and cholesterol, Mary?

    @suesilva5252@suesilva52525 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Sue, That is a good question. Are you worried about cholesterol in food? The reason I ask is because you probably already know that I have my opinions on that! LOL!! In an event...About a tablespoon of bone marrow contains 110 calories, 13.5 grams of fat, and 1 gram of protein. Not sure about the cholesterol count but bone marrow is mostly saturated fat that is very rich in CLA that is wonderful for good health. (I subscribe to Gary Tuabes way of thinking as outlined in his now famous NYTimes article "What If It's All Been a Big Fat Lie?" where he exposed some of the misinformation about cholesterol being bad for us. Sally Fallon also discusses this in her book.) Bone Marrow is a very traditional food and has been eaten for thousands of years. And since I follow the traditional eating patterns as outlined in the book Nourishing Traditions I like to incorporate this type of fat into my diet. What are your thoughts? Love, Mary
