Me! Watching for my 15th time, basically. I have never forgotten this video, or the adrenaline rush that comes with it.

Hats off to the video Grapher for producing one of the best videos on KZhead.
Decades ago it was the most watched video on youtube, deserve it.
Same here... right on Broadway and commercial
Let’s take a moment the apprentice the cameraman. He did an excellent job capturing the events from such a distance and with a shitty camera. We live in a world where people can’t even properly record school fights with their cutting-edge telephones, but this guy managed to deliver a perfect footage of a gang-war between species. Respect for those steady hands
Definitely is crazy footage.
Lol
I hope his apprencticeship goes well.

EKULvideos this grand moment could be a turning point in evolution for the buffalo race as a whole on the savannah of Africa. With the ways climate is changing, my prediction buffalo will turn omnivorous but may be its just shit. Buffalo will forever never surpass the elephants though as in intelligence, strength and toughness. Watching this video makes me feel bad for the majestic big cats race. Most of them are probably going to extinct in the near future. Life as a carnivore is a lot harder since their only source of food always on the move and sometimes can even kill them.
That surviving baby buffalo is probably a grandpa today, telling his grandkids about that miracle and why not to give up in life 😊
nah, he's dead
🤕That was a bad day for the baby buffalo before the family showed up. It had lion's chewing on one side and Crocs trying to lock and twist on the other😳 I'm glad the little soldier made it out alive👍😎👌
No way that young buffalo survived that in the end. Injuries were probably fatal.
there is no doubt that calf is dead from those bite

I love how the crocodile probably saved the calf's life unintentionally by trying to grab it, buying more time for the herd to arrive.

Hi
The first buffalo at 5:12 that attacks and chases off one of the lions deserves huge credit. You can tell the rest of the buffaloes gained more confidence as each lion was driven off one by one. Incredible video!
Look carefully. The second attack on 5:48 is also performed by the same buffalo
Yo, THAT buffalo is a TRUE MVB (Bovine)! He was just not having it!

This was the first video I watched in its entirety on KZhead. First, I saw the story on TV, they said that Battle at Kruger is AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET. In the evening, when my mother came home from work, I set this eight-minute video to load, and after half an hour I gathered the whole family at the computer and shared the emotions with them. Literally half a year later, dad connected a faster Internet and watching any video on any platform was no longer a big event. I don’t know why I’m writing this, I’m probably just glad that I remember how my relationship with KZhead began.
This too was my "first" impressive video watched on utube. TY! Excellent 👍
I remember those slow ass dial up internet days. The youngsters complaining about slow load time nowadays, don't even know how we used to have it.😂
I was here when the video first came out and all these years later I'm back to show my little daughters. They were thrilled. Thanks internet.

The video was captured 19 years ago, and it is still one of the most amazing wildlife encountered ever recorded by camera 🎥 ❤👍 Really inspiring about the power of team work also!🎉
Had a tour yesterday with the guide in the video (Frank), the one who switches between English and Afrikaans. Absolute gem of a man and still so passionate about his work
Wow! totally unexpected. I cant believe that little calf managed to survive a tug of war match between a pride of lions and a large crocodile. If that calf could talk, it would have a story to tell. Its tough being a Lion, a hunt doesn't always go to plan.
Noel Terry There were two huge crocodiles, so it was even more challenging.
Noel Terry He probably grew up feeling invincible, tried to take on a group of lions alone, and got murdered
Daniel Dorestant I have a strong feeling that it died a short time after this was filmed due to injuries. But I don't know.
Noel Terry No way he's going to live. If he doesn't bleed to death, one of his dozens of wounds will get infected
The Devil Himself say that to savuti lions they have become expert elephant killers.
That baby calf was getting tug-a-wared by a pack of lions and a freaking crocodile, then was able to eventually get up and walk away. He the true mvp!
Tbh, I doubt he survived - he probably either died from his injuries, or got caught by other predators later since he was probably very weak. But who knows! I agree though, he's definitely the mvp in this video. :p
Chantal Schot he was gonna get caught by other predators if he was weak or not. He's a baby but I doubt he dies because he has a pack and people probably found him and healed him up.
Chantal Schot i agree his injuries had to be real bad but i hope he got better

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank my teacher from Lake Central in Indiana for telling the class to go online and watch this video when I was a freshman in 2008. Nobody in the class seemed to care that much, but little did they know he was sharing with us something magnificent. It is a crime that I cannot remember his name, but I'll never forget the precious gift he shared with us. This will always be beautiful and timeless.
His name is Mr. Buff Alo
Very good video (unfortunately not in HD at that time...) of this exceptional event which took place in the South of Kruger Park (South Africa) at 'Transport dam' in late afternoon, in October 2004. I was there too and I took a few pictures. In fact, my car was right next to cameraman's and I had the same angle of view of the scenery. Arriving by the access road to the dam (2 kilometers) about one hour before this event, I first saw a large herd of buffaloes feeding along this road but moving slowly towards the water hole. Close to the water, there were 6 or 7 lions, females and young males, resting on the grass. I predicted that something was going to happen in the next hour and I waited near this group of lions. Indeed, the buffaloes finally joined the water hole, only seeing at the last moment the lions, immobile and lurking on the ground. The lions then grabbed a young buffalo which fell in the water in its flight. It was then pulled for a moment both by a crocodile pulling down and the lions pulling up, which this video shows very well. The lions managed to get the young buffalo back ans tackled it to the ground, without killing it immediately, because they were very concerned by the imminent charge of buffaloes, which took a while to organize themselves in a line (like cavalry) and finally charged fully the lions which had to let go their prey. It miraculously got back on its feet and succeeded to join the herd of adults. There was then back and forth between buffaloes and lions who wanted to try to recover their prey, likely still a little hurt. It is there that we see here for a moment buffaloes encircling the lions near the water and a horned female lion leaping in the air. The video lasts 8 mn but the event lasted over one half an hour in all. Finally, none animal remained seriously injured on the ground despite a long an tough fight. I have been going to this Park regularly one month a year and almost every year since 1999 and this is one of my best memories. Well done to the cameraman! I am myself making videos in this Park for a few years, posted in KZhead and the link to my channel is: kzhead.info/tools/P8iOqOUr7hFvtRag49l3Xw.html Charles Pierrot.

My family and I have been going to the Kruger National Park since the early '80's (we're South African" Been to the Transport Dam many times - such a great location just to sit and watch the wildlife there do its thing. What an incredible scene for you to have witnessed there! Thanks for the detailed description: I've only ever seen one kill at the Park, it was from a long distance and very distressing to see. Nature is brutal, but an event like this highlights a sense of compassion not only to us, but I believe, to animals as well.

What i love about this amazing video is that in nature most animals just cut their loses and leave, they don't usually go and bring back the entire herd for revenge.

*The Battle of Trager or The Battle of the three armies. The small contingent of the buffalo army scouted ahead. Unseen to them were the lion army waiting around the bush. They launched a sneak attack and captured one. The other buffalos ran off to get renforcements. Suddenly, while trying to secure their prize, the crocodile army attacked from the sea. Trying to get a hold of the buffalo, there was a fierce tug of war. Finally, the crocodile army retreated back. That was when the buffalo armies renforcements arrived, this time with over whelming numbers. The lions, determined to hold their ground, set a defensive perimeter. The buffalo army started to encircle the lions. Half the lions retreated while half stayed. The buffalo were now laying siege to the lions. Attempting to break the siege, one lion skirmishes with the buffalo and draws them away while the rest of the lion army retreats.*
