it was from 1994,not the 80s
Lol, yeah it was definitely 90s, I think used to be in channel 9
I know. I remember watching the show back in the day.
I was just about to comment this I was in elementary school when this was on😂
Mantis was MY first black superhero. And i never missed an episode
MANTIS and Static Shock paved the way for Black Lightning later on as a live action character, even though he was on Challenge of the Super Friends back in the 70s then there is Luke Cage as well but between him and BL, I forget which came first
@@dragonweyr44 not Black Lightning a character based on him called Black Vulcan was created for the series instead due to you guess it copyright issues from the creator of Black Lightning
Him and meteorman
@@eli40000 OH GOD, Meteor Man was a HORRIBLY bad movie
I loved this show. Watched every episode.
I remember this show 1994 on Fox 11 PST Hard to watch due to it being on late at night, I was lucky enough to catch little bit of The Flash 90s show back then. MANTIS Pilot was Good.
I've watched some of this. It was a good superhero show.
I can remember watching this back when our cable was turned off.
This show had a worse history of releasing episodes than Firefly had I remember Andrew Robinson, Garak fro Star Trek Deep Space Nine as the villain Solomon Box on this show. I met him at a Star Trek convention once and talked to him about his time on MANTIS for a while
This show is a classic 💪👍💪
I remember this show and loved it.
This series was Electric!!
My brother and Me loved this. Came on before or after Dark Angel.
I loved watching this when i lived in Guatemala.
Great job guys! This show needs a remake... a good remake. I hope Marvelous gets around to doing Nightman (lol) and an old TV show called Raven.
I watched and enjoyed this show because I'm a lifelong sci-fi/fantasy fan. The fact that he was black never crossed my mind at the time.
Loved this show
i remember this show and as an African American comic book nerd, wish i could've caught the later episodes that aired, especially the finale which personally i thought (& still do now) just really do sucked;still a great show😮😊❤
My favorite tv series in the 90s.
Didn't that come out in the 90s
?
? Internet 🛜 exist for questions like this.
Yes, it definitely was 90s
@@Jayson-ut8qwfukyoutubesoftasss The show came out in the 1990s not 1980s
Yes. This person is wrong, at this point knows it and isn’t interested in fixing it, which is vastly more insulting.
This show was great
Missed this show and the tv-made movie was awesome
i loved this show
Hell, yeah, this was the very first Iron Man
This show looks so cool I had to look at your channel overview of it, though I have already seen it on other channels. It's sad the show had no direction, because so many aspects of the character are cool as heck.
I watched this on Saturdays after xena
MANTIS worth watching. It's written by Evil Dead director Sam Raimi and Batman and Batman Returns writer Sam Hamm. It's an asssurance it's a good show.
My mother had one of those giant cell phones that Mantis had and my sister and i called it the Mantis phone Ill always remember the Mantis villain who was an accountant or something that was defeated by red ink
This show really faded into obscurity over the years, hasn’t it?
Do any of the streaming services have it?
This was a very good live-action superhero show. (That, plus the other superhero shows like The SuperForce.)
M.A.N.T.I.S. also had a 1994 movie with Steve James of American Ninja fame as a co star.
So in addition to The Stalker from Batman Beyond & Martian Manhunter from Justice League/Unlimited, this is the third comic character that Carl Lumbly has done, cool.
Wow I remember this show
Please please please please do in depth comparisons between the pilot and show. Two African students developed the suit alongside Hawkins originally.
If I'm not mistaken Avery Brooks aka Station Commander Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek Deep Space 9 played the character
Carl Lumbly played the title character
@@JohnSmith22114 Been close to 30 years since I've seen it
@@EvilXero359 No Worries. I was just telling you so you know. Hope you are well and have a most awesome day.
@@JohnSmith22114 thx and I'll try to have an awesome day as my workplace came up with a new clock in system which is straight up stupid
Need to mame a remake 😊 of this Black superhero in 2025 folks let it happen on tv or movie 🎥
I was this. Had the DVD set it was ok but ya after a little bit I lost interest but I wanted to finish
I forgot about this show
Please change the thumbnail, it’s from the 90’s and it needs to be revived, I even liked the movie that came out before it where he was like a Bruce Wayne kind of character in a wheelchair, that show deserves better
He looks like the guy from Top Gun: Maverick
What about the toxic avengers let's get a video 💯🃏
Do a video on the beetle borgs!!
My secret identity was much more earlier than this. I think that one was late 80s. I think the scientist in that one was the one in the wheelchair.
That kid used spray cans to control his flying
They should remake it
The pilot for this show was great, and if they had continued with that plotline, the show would have been good too. The show itself was kinda weak, and the last episode was downright horrible. I do wish that they would revive the IP and do it justice. Carl Lumbly did a great job as Dr. Miles Hawkins, and some of the concepts on political corruption and police brutality would have fit right in during the last couple of years.
ah...yes....loved this show...an alternative disguise of Martian Manhunter😂😂😂 (he wasn't actually paralyzed)🤯🤯🤯🤯😎😎😎
It was from the 90s not 80s
Thos.was.so.dope. i suddenly stopped watching as a child.or maybe it was canceled?
The pilot TV movie was great. The actual television show was whitewashed and the quality of the writing was terrible. Had they stuck with the original cast, crew and show runners, it would’ve been a hit TV show. I guess FOX thought they couldn’t have a television program about a black superhero unless the surrounding cast was white. It really felt like they purposely tanked the show. I remember the show runner they brought in was an absolute hack. He’d done other superhero and sci-fi properties and everything he did was chocked full or tired genre tropes. Everything that made Mantis cool, unique and badass he took away.
The main actor did the voice for Martian Manhunter on Justice League.
Carl Lumbly was also in the hit esponiage tv series Alias
@@skeaneable yes.
This was an odd review to say the least
It was the 90s not the 80s.
I liked concept of Black superhero. However, the failure was everything was dependent upon the exoskeleton. They didn't do that too Ironman who could still do great many things outside his suit, they made Tony Stark into weapons expert. Mantis, just brother happen use exoskeleton in fighting crime. The stories become ridiculous and just stopped watching it.
2024 Marvel: We need more diversity! 1994 : ..... Wha The F-
Now that’s cap 🧢! The show was atrocious. I watched the first episodes as a teen and I didn’t tune in the rest of the episodes!
I vaguely remember this🤌🏾
Definitely from the 90s, I remember the debut.
Loved this show
