When people are arguing the NBA GOAT debate, there is always a clash and difference in opinions. Different basketball rules, different teammates and competition, and many other factors make any GOAT equation extremely complicated to solve. It’s hard to compare eras, and it’s hard to compare players that play different positions. So, we decided to go around that problem, and made a list of greatest players - for all five positions in basketball.
Who's The GOAT At Every Position?
Disagree with our list? Let us know your top 5.
you missed it at small forward and center. bird and wilt are the best ever. 84 nba finals game 5. the queen would have melted faster than the wicked witch in the wizard of oz. bird would have trash talked lebron into soiling his depends. wilt is the G.OA.T. period at any position

@@angusthecat1689 Bird is a legend but if I were choosing, I need Lebron on my team, someone who can facilitate, who can put the ball in the hoops, very athletic, and is an All-around demon. “Shaq 330 pounds of pure muscle” - being a little generous there.
Prime shaq wasn’t fat. A lot of his mass was relaxed muscles. Not as defined as bodybuilders’ muscles but muscles nonetheless
'00-'01 Shaq was still just a structure of brick and steal with flesh around it. But I'll give you this, he quickly got out of shape like after the chip of '01 he was just a 7 ft fat boy who could beat the Nets with J Kidd as their best player Kobe called him on it we all know its true but them first 2 he was like MJ in a sense "the perfect athlete".

“John Stockton was an above average shooter.” John Stockton is #18 all time in career true shooting percentage, only one tenth of one percent behind James Harden. He also #51 in all time career effective field goal percentage, a hundredth of a percent better than Kevin Durant. Of course Curry is #5 and #13, but still. He was a lot better than above average

I somehow knew Curry was going to be point guard and don’t have issue being on someone’s list, but their eras have definitely 2 different positions from the traditional PG. That point about Magic needing the ball? Keep in mind Nixon was the point guard in 80-83 before the Lakers traded him. During those years, Magic still obtained 2 finals MVPs. Not bad for “someone who needs the ball…” :)
I consider Curry an undersized SG playing out of position
The fact that curry plays off the ball is a big advantage and one of the major reasons why people choose him over magic. Although magic is a better and more complete PG than curry, he doesn’t need to be guarded at half court and off the ball making it tough for the opponent’s D
The greatest point guard ever is Stockton. Magic is second best. Curry is a great shooting guard, but an average point guard. He plays out of position.

As Wilt once told mj “They changed the rules to stop me from dominating and they changed the rules SO you could dominate.” Edit: These guys in my replies know a lot about basketball, you should check it out.
Wilt was not allowed to dunk or post up near the hoop down low using his back to the basket backing down guys like 2000 shaq was allowed to do...mj meanwhile kept losing to the pistons until the summer 1990 rule changes about letting offensive players dribble without a hand on them especially in the air near the rim or else its called a foul..mj lived off that stuff which used to be let go a lot more..it made it easy to score at the rim vs bigs who were slow and go at the rim on guards from the perimeter who were strong used to hand checking but not as quick...totally a mismatch now cause he could get bigs in foul trouble or they had to let him score go in fear of a foul plus that opened up passing lanes off over help reactions on d and reb chances for bulls bigss wings...and the quicker guards were smaller so mj would post them up or shoot over them...either way you lose...
@@razkable Cool dude.

@@razkable The Flagrant foul rule wasn't introduced because of Jordan. What rule are you talking about? They also changed rules for Mikan, Mikan>Jordan?
@@87mchale.71 Jordan couldn't beat the Pistons. The league hated the Pistons. The Pistons figured out how to dominate while Magic and Bird were dying out. The league definitely changed the rules to benefit Jordan. Jordan was making the league mad money and giving them media attention. No super star got as much leverage as Jordan, not even Lebron. The league never pushed another player like Jordan because of how the numbers dropped when he retired. So they learned to never push just one player like that again. Jordan had plenty of leverage and is over pushed. Look at the delusional Jordan fanboys now, that should be a primary example right there.

Clyde Drexler is criminally under rated and absolutely should be up there with kobe and wade. Ironically one of the biggest reasons he's under rated is because he lived in MJ's shadow but damn did they have some good duels.

That centre category is so stacked 🔥
Center seems like the most difficult choice by far. I'd probably go for Wilt cause of his unreal numbers, but still i think you could go with Russell, Kareem, Hakeem, Shaq or David Robinson and you wouldn't be wrong. Think Oscar Robertson deserves a special mention at the PG position too.

Kareem was 7'2 in his bare feet. I'd also put Julius Erving on the list of small forwards. He won championships in the ABA. And carried that league. He elevated the level of play above the rim for the first time. After Wilt Chamberlain opened the door Dr.J was first multi million dollar advertising man in basketball. Magic to the 80s was what Steph Curry was to the second half of the 2010s.
No he wasn't...they're game styles are completely different..Bird was more like Curry..Magic couldn't shoot 3's..had no jump shot, poor mechanics. Magic was the elite pass first PG ..Curry is a shoot first 2 way gaurd listed as PG..no comparison to Magic. Curry and Bird both average 6 assist per game ..those are not elite point gaurd numbers. Bird and Curry two of the greatest 3pt shooters in the game...Magic not..Magic arguably the greatest PG ever

@@rodcav3 My take. The game has changed. Curry doesn’t need to facilitate in the traditional sense. He did that when Mark Jackson was around and teams swarmed him. They still swarm him today but he gets a lot of “off assists” that comes from his movement and all the attention the opposing teams put on him. So yeah he averages 6 assists but look how many of those other assists from draymond or whoever came directly from either Currys movement post pass or the double and triple team he gets once he passes half court.
@@jaeb4743 I respect your analysis but...even though the game has changed the point position hasn't look at Chris Paul, Rondo, the Ball brothers, Kyle Lowery, etc these are true points..Making the pass, finding people open, in the right spot with the right delivery that is a point gaurds role, thats not Stephs game. Steph is a shooter and the best to have ever done it..he is literally a 2 gaurd,... great shooters will always get attention no matter what position they play like Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Larry Bird, , etc but they weren't point gaurds MJ, Kobe Dwade and AI were all 2 gaurds that got the same attention Steph gets...they created the problems for opposing teams like Steph does. They did it with they're ability to take the ball to the rack and penetrate..Steph doesn't penetrate as much because he is such a great outside shooter but Steph belongs in that league with the top 2 gaurds..not the point gaurds
@@rodcav3 I respect it. But out of the PGs you listed Rondo is the only one with a championship. Traditional PGs don’t really translate in today’s NBA. Too dig a little deeper Lonzo was considered a bust by a lot of ppl. Maybe because of his lack of shooting. This year he had a resurgence because of it. I can see where ur coming from tho with steph not being a “true” guard.
Olajuwon led THE-MOST dominant-threat team ever with the 1994 Houston Rockets man they were downright nasty and scary between Olajuwons domination and their other 4's 3's and insane defense you couldn't figure out when they weren't going to score on a possession or overturn-steal the other team's ball. They were the perfect team surrounded by the most complete center in league history. I would go on to say the dream team if 94/95 Olajuwon was on it would be worse because he was such a complete player, he transcended basketball the way Jordan did, but he was a center, and his team was furiously driven while in the absense of Jordan in those 2 odd years. Those of us who witnessed that time were so confused in that era of viewership because of the big hole of Jordan's disenfranchisement of basketball due to his dad's tragic killing and also this team that had stormed and assaulted the league in that void. The rockets were so ferocious the lock they had on basketball going into the post-season to the championship left no hope for anyone because you knew they were going to suffocate and pillage opponents. This 93-94 94-95 Rockets team for me had to be the best and Olajuwon would have been Bill Russell in championships had he had that team which he threatened to leave the Rockets for because of prior to the 1993 regular season and ended up getting it.

PG:John Stockton SG:Michael Jordan SF:LeBron James PF:Dirk Nowitzki C:Bill Russell☘️ Honorable Mentions: Kobe, Wilt Chamberlain, Karl Malone
We need y’all to do jay z covers fr lmaoo
I was crying when he said John Stockton look like a high school teacher lmao
"Looking like a high school teacher" Bruh 😂
......and he's absolutely right, He does look like a high school teacher.
PG- Magic Johnson SG- Michael Jordan SF- LeBron James PF- Tim Duncan C- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Would they go 82-0?
@@szxchy. in their sleep
Replace Magic with Steph Curry, this team would need his range, magic is useless cuz they already got LBJ and he could do all the passing...
@@josephjoestar6679 actually you have a great point cuz LeBron being the best shooter on a team is not good enough to stretch the floor despite being pretty good at shooting jumpshots now cuz this entire lineup has all 5 guys working in the paint most of the time
@@josephjoestar6679 Lol. Ok, Z. Get back to watchin' your manga and leave the serious b-ball discussions to us adults.
I'm going to fill this out from easiest selection to hardest. Shooting Guard: Michael Jordan Power Forward: Tim Duncan Point Guard: Magic Johnson Small Forward: Larry Bird Center: Bill Russell
i like magic and “The Answer” as the best point guards
PG - Steph Curry (arguably the best shooter) SG - Michael Jordan (arguably best ever player) SF - Lebron James (king of modern nba) PF - Tim Duncan (say less) C - Shaq (arguably most dominant player in nba)
Or Kareem at centre
bugger lugs Wilt maybe too
Or Bill Russell at Center
Never Curry as the best point guard ever just because of shooting
@@vanthom9185 i did not say he is ‘the best’ I just prefer him over any other point guard because of his ability to hit 3 pointers from everywhere
Give me Kareem, Bird, and Tim Duncan and I’ll challenge any team
3 on 3? Or 5 on 5?
Give me Wilt, Malone, Durant and I would blow your team out.
PG: Steph Curry SG: Kobe Bryant SF: LeBron James PF: Dirk Nowitzki C: Shaquille O'Neal
SG: Michael Jordan
It’s hilarious that you give the all time leader in steals and assists an honorable mention.
Good picks. I like how you gave credit to other solid players at their respective positions.
Magic, MJ, Bird, Duncan and Hakeem
PG-Magic Johnson SG-Michael Jordan SF-Lebron James PF-Tim Duncan C- okay this one is tough and debatable. Most record breaker? Wilt! Most points in career and unstoppable move? Kareem! Most Dominant? Shaq! Most rings in center? Bill Rusell!
Pg curry Sg kobe Sf lebron C shaq
PG: Magic SG: Jordan SF: James PF: Tim Duncan C : Hakeem
oh sorry its not an H its a K *Kareem
@@aayankhan821 you mean kakeem?

I would personally put Wilt over Hakeem
Zoomer Wendy's Kareem 6 time MVP 6 time champ but wilt is a third option number 2 is bill russel in my option but you choose
Siakam wtf? he’s a future 6 time mvp, 9 time finals mvp, 3 time dpoy, 18 time all star captain 20 time nba first team, first player to average 70 25 15 10 10, all time leader in points, assists, rebounds, blocks and steals, first to have a fg % of 98 and first player to get a 100 point quintuple double and first player to get a triple triple
Im dead🤣🤣
This isn't the future bud
I remember watching his triple triple but his team lost 200 to 202

Shadow2dubz HELL no wilt was stronger than him (that’s a fact he can lift more) wilt was way more skilled able to do fade-away a, sky hooks, etc. Shaq was only good in his prime while wilt and Kareem were amazing their whole career.
Tbh I Would Have Poppovich. I Think He Was A Better Coach Than Phil In My Opinion. Ik Phil Has More Rings But Still
simon cohen that’s not true because wilt did have hof help although not as much as Russell so I guess your kinda right but you can’t say it as tho wilt had pure bums on his team, he’s had hof teammates it’s just that he had a bigger load than most players
ShadowReacts The Talent Was Already There On The Bulls And Lakers. Phil Came In And Coached When Jordan Was In His Prime. Bulls Had Jordan Pippen And Rodman. When He Went To The Lakers Kobe And Shaq. Coached Two Dominant Teams When The Talent Is Already There. Poppovich On The Other Hand, Had 5 Rings Without Any Standout Stars Besides Duncan And A Little Of Robinson. Poppovich Made Okay Players Better. Trading Kawai Leonard Was Genius Of Poppovich
simon cohen Leonard Is The Only Player (Besides Green) That Can Guard LeBron Well. Really Sucks In Playoffs, 2 Time Finals MVP. Okay

i dont get it
@@bobjohnson1737 lebron james won his 4th title. he also consequently won his 4th finals mvp. Two FMVP's with the Heat, one FMVP with the Cavs, and now one FMVP with the Lakers.
In an era where you can score at will give me a break lebron wouldn't even get off the bench if he played in birds era
@@davidfleming5083 stfu old head defense was literally worse in the 80s statistically. A team averaged more PPG than nowadays because of the bad Defense and rules. Physical doesnt mean better. And the game back then was way less skilled. Defense isnt bad today, the players just make it look easy
