He was called Durantula back in OKC days but stopped when Nike/Durant got sued for infringement rights by a band called durantula? Or a song named durantula? (Either of the two, i forgot) durant let it go cuz he doesn't like the name, he chooses to be called "the servant" (cuz he only serve god) then the whole GSW drama started people calling him "The Serpent" instead.

Kobe got the idea of the nickname "Black Mamba" from the movie Kill Bill. He was a huge fan of martial arts movie and he was heavily inspired by the main character Beatrix "Black Mamba" Kiddo who seeks revenge on her former friends and family who attempted to murder and leave her for dead. Kobe explained in a interview how many people turned on him after a tough time in his life (Colorado incident) and people he consider like family left him and doubted his individual greatness (Shaq and Phil Jackson). So he created a mindset of getting revenge on everybody that doubted and left his NBA career for dead

He was called Durantula back in OKC days but stopped when Nike/Durant got sued for infringement rights by a band called durantula? Or a song named durantula? (Either of the two, i forgot) durant let it go cuz he doesn't like the name, he chooses to be called "the servant" (cuz he only serve god) then the whole GSW drama started people calling him "The Serpent" instead.

Kobe got the idea of the nickname "Black Mamba" from the movie Kill Bill. He was a huge fan of martial arts movie and he was heavily inspired by the main character Beatrix "Black Mamba" Kiddo who seeks revenge on her former friends and family who attempted to murder and leave her for dead. Kobe explained in a interview how many people turned on him after a tough time in his life (Colorado incident) and people he consider like family left him and doubted his individual greatness (Shaq and Phil Jackson). So he created a mindset of getting revenge on everybody that doubted and left his NBA career for dead
