No! You should be deeply moved by things in the world, but don't let your emotions create the story. Try to put your emotions into a theory.”_ 📎 Vijay’s Message : Try to understand why it happens from history and try our best to create a world further from that. *Everlasting Nakba, Zionism, Resolution* 17:57 - Brief History 19:55 - Current State 20:53 - Global Response : Humanity Over Religion _“It's the brazenness of the violence the scale of the violence that has really upset tens if not hundreds of millions of people around the planet.”_ _“Anti-Semitism is a European problem. It's not an Asian, Arab, African, Latin (problem). It's a European problem. Europe doesn't want to face up to its own problem. Now, they are using that to attack critics of Israel. I mean, why would you call me an anti-semite? I don't have any history of anti-Semitism.”_ 25:25 - Ideological Debate : Has Zionism Evolved? _“The problem is this : Zionism has become this calcified form of ethno-religious nationalism.”_ 30:29 - Lessons for the rest of the world _“That (historical) complexity cannot afford an ethnic-religious State.”_ _“We (Asians) are a complicated ancient part of the world. We cannot afford some of these European fantasies of one people, one language, one religion, one this, one that.”_ 32:10 - Hope for Resolution • [33:33] Bitter resolution journey • [38:59] Vijay Prashad : _There's two things about war zones that people don't get. They see the death, but what they don't get is the banality of the war zone the noise is incredible … and secondly what has become banal is the dust, the debris, the amount of of toxic material._ • [40:12] Vijay Prashad : _I don't know what the Palestinians are supposed to do frankly._ *Ukraine-Palestine Double Standard* 42:53 - Juxtaposing Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine : It’s not the same 44:58 - The US’ position towards Ukraine and Taiwan is a way to weaken the economy of China. In other words, the US-China duel is an economic contestation, not an ideological one. • [47:13] First threat : Eurasian integration is a direct threat to US multinational corporations and ruling elites. • [52:11] Second threat : ‘The New Cold War’ *US Is Not Everything* 54:06 - US’ Multipolarization⭐ _“There’s nothing special about the United States.”_ 58:41 - US’ Democracy _“Democracy is a process, not a system.”_ _“Democracy doesn't mature when you get the most expensive voting system. The US has military bases in 85 countries, China in 3, and Russia in 1 (Syria) beyond the former Soviet Union.”_ ✔️ Fact Check : According to MIP, the US has undertaken almost 400 military interventions since 1776, with half of these operations undertaken between 1950 and 2019. • In a thought-provoking discussion, Vijay Prashad challenges the perceived superiority of the United States, questioning why nations like Indonesia should defer to its leadership. He argues that democracy transcends mere voting systems, emphasizing the need to address colonial mentalities that underpin power dynamics. Prashad reflects on the grim realities of war zones, highlighting the banality and brutality often overlooked amidst the chaos. He critiques the global community's double standards in responding to conflicts, particularly noting the disproportionate attention given to Gaza compared to other regions like Ukraine. Prashad delves into geopolitical dynamics, analyzing the shift in global power dynamics and the opposition to emerging powers like China, suggesting a reevaluation of entrenched structures and ideologies.
