The reason for pikachu and eevee having their original cries being “the voice actors haven’t been born yet, this game is set in the past” has to be the funniest reason for anything ever
For me it's a nice little nostalgic thing. I remember when I started with Pokémon games in 2000, Pikachu had a regular cry like any other Pokémon (except for Pokémon yellow), but I can't remember when it changed to saying it's name 🤔

@@pn2294 Two different versions is an outdated concept especially if they’re going to be yearly releases. The fact trading is easier is more reason to get rid of the two version releases, not less.
Love that the day night cycle isn’t based off time. I always play at night so I could never get morning/day pokemon unless I manipulated switch time.
It definitely seems like this game is going to be the start of a new frontier for Pokémon. I just hope they take some of the positive aspects of this game and implement them in Gen 9

The way it works is that only 2 will attack at a time, but they can have like 3 mons waiting to tag in

1:55 the game is made so you have to capture the same pokemon multiple times and even evolve it multiple times IF you want to perfect the pokedex. It's easy to get a complete on a pokemons pokedex profile but to get a perfect its a massive grind.
I think this will be its own series of games. Legends of the different regions. Can you imagine playing during the Kalos war or when Ho-Oh created the legendary dogs? High hopes for the future!

At this point, about half say Arkeus and half day Arseus. When they introduce extensive voice acting to the series, I hope they have the NPCs do the same, as in some of them say Arkeus and some say Arseus. It could be a fun in-world detail that nobody knows how to pronounce it

Personally, I think we've grown past the days of NEEDING or being forced to trade between players to complete our Dexes, if we don't want to. I hope they keep this for the future.

@@pn2294 Man, I grew up in an age and town where not everyone would have the money, time or interest to purchase two consoles, both edition and a cable link. Did you survive that? No? Too young? This sort model they used to have gone is welcome. That was outdated and only works well to sell more meaning the games are not good enough by itself to make numbers. The game is about to complete a encyclopedia? Then don't make it pointless and impossible for an individual, when your game is not essentially online to have them all by trading because some species doesn't exist in the wild. If you think every pokémon becomes "generic" just because of that, then you don't simply enjoy the game. I would rather catch every pokémon by myself than wait for someone else to handle me over one out of the blue "just because". That's actually generic.

@@sacredpower7530 Don't even say it. I know what it was like and I don't support how it started. I had two consoles, both edition and the trading device from the 1st to the 3rd Generation to play a game literally twice really fast in order to catch some of my favorite pokémon or just to have the legendaries because I loved the game and I didn't know of anyone around who played the game, less the opposite edition. There was no choice. That model was created since one single cartridge wasn't capable to store all the necessary information. It worked so well that it became a good reason to keep on so fans and collectors would be forced to spend more. While today is extremely easy to have edition exclusive, game wise is pointless. And again, for a game that doesn't have anything to do online- no content at all, keeping up with that model, with a Nintendo Online subscription required even for lan mode, is just too much.

Stuff like Alakazam showing up in the wild trivializes the importance of trainers since apparently the Pokémon can reach that level of power without help anyways. Besides, I never abandoned my Kadabra just because I couldn’t evolve it into an Alakazam. It was part of my team regardless.
Fun fact: I’m pretty sure confusion is the only status condition that affects the player but not any Pokémon. Weird but I’m so glad I don’t hit myself in confusion anymore.

They should implement frostbite as a normal mechanic instead of freeze. It would buff ice types a bit I'm sure.

@@digitalraikan7111 what makes burn so good isnt the chip damage, but the ability to halve ur opponents attack. Halving an opponents special attack is what makes frostbite so much better.
Sleep is nerfed significantly
I think it may buff ice types slightly but you inadvertently buff water types (who all learn ice moves) much more, and water types are already very strong. The best buffs to ice types are new resistances.
So nice to learn more about the game, without spoiling too much. Makes me very excited and can't wait to play this unique Pokemon game. Hope maybe some of these features work out and maybe used in future Pokemon games to keep them from feeling stale. Personally I am avoiding the new Pokemon forms video, want to be surprised. As who will be my starter, I am choosing the Owl Pokemon since it is one of my personal favorites and it will be very useful in this game.
Knowing that I can go into a Austin John Plays video and get spoiler free content is honestly so refreshing. From what I've played so far, you're absolutely right I think this is the best pokemon game in forever. It all feels so fresh and the game is made so well, I really hope pokemon sees this success and gives us more (maybe even a legends mew, legends celebi etc)
The research level stuff (that realistically does involve catching, or at least encountering multiple of the same species) doesn't bother me. You have different goals, and the research tasks change.
As a monster hunter fan i have no problem with this at all. Its just the shrines of this game really
As long as the tasks evolve with you where it’ll start with simple grindy stuff but then eventually it’ll be specific challenge based tasks unique to the respective Pokémon.

Yup, research involves catching, fighting and using pokemones on battles and trying their moves.

I feel like you have to change the white out rules. Like maybe if you get knocked out instead of the run being over you lose everything in your party. Encounters, you would keep everything that you’re allowed to use in seperate boxes from the game progression catches, to avoid confusion. Once we see more of how the game works, I think we’ll be able to come up with some good Nuzlocke rules
new rule: if you die in the game you die in real life

I REALLY hope that they continue to build on what they've done with Legends: Arceus. Going back to Johto in an open world is something that needs to happen.
That's the first thing I thought of when Legends Arceus was announced: what if they made a game like this with Johto. I love Johto so much and I know for sure they would have ancient/original versions of the 3 dog pokemon that burned in the tower.
I think ancient Unova would be very interesting aswell.
I want kalos since we never got another game, and the history of the war could be awesome

It's nice to hear some of these changes. I've heard a significant amount of griping over no voice acting but to that I say listen, I've been playing this series since the game was all one color and on a non back-lit console I'll take all the changes I can get and be happy.
I think Pokémon is much better without voice acting
People don't understand that often the lack of voice acting is intentional to allow the player to create their own voices for the characters in their head.
Voice acting means that the player cyaracter(you) can't choose names anymore cus what the heck will the other characters call you?

While certainly not fool proof it could be possible, depending on how things are worded, for them (as examples) to simply refer to the player using whether they chose the boy or girl alongside you and they where it works. Honestly voice acting isn't something I need, but if they can pull it off then its fine.
Agree to agree and disagree. Having no voice actors can cause some very awkward moments. (Insert Piers silent singing) But at the same time... The anime, and in extension, Masters EX gave official voice actors to characters and gonna be honest, Marnie being voiced by Cristina Vee is a win, but I did NOT expect Marnie to sound like a Marinette compared to my Verosika.
Been playing for 3 straight days. The initial start of the game is a bit of work but once you developed a routine in-game it becomes a fun challenge experience. The hiding in the grass element to catch the alpha pokemon really adds to the tension and stealth to those moments. Loving every bit of it.

20:45 yes, I did. Plates when available (they effected more than just Arceus), occasional herb strat, and of course the usual stuff like quick claw, miracle seed, and whatnot. More recent games have also been better at providing meaningful held items during the main game too
The thing is though, in most cases, you don't really NEED them. The mainline games can usually just be brute forced all the way through. Like I usually just give my pokemon some kind of buff item for whatever their best stat or type is. Or leftovers/amulet coin because why not. If it's a single player game, with a revamped combat system, held items aren't necessary. Now if the game DID have multiplayer, I would say taking away held items is a bad idea.
@@ReikokuXTaifuu its not about whether you needed them or not, they still added depth that otherwise wouldn't be there...which Game Freak mostly ignored with NPCs, but as ILCA proved in BDSP Cynthia fight and the rematches, they can still very much use that depth if they wanted to. As for brute forcing through the game, that's largely because you get tons of advantages the AI doesn't get. Sometimes a trainer is literally coded to ignore certain moves in their moveset, most of the time they don't have EVs or high IVs...Switch mode existing as a whole....The AI usually not knowing the type chart....Incomplete movesets, especially in recent titles. Being able to use X items which effectively open up move slots...All of these, whether the player notices it or not, is an inherent advantage they get

I believe innovation and new ideas should be rewarded not snuffed out. So even if this game had its problems we should accept them and work with them so one day we can see even more improvements upon this type of game instead of the same exact 8 badges and the elite 4 gameplay we have been experiencing since like 1998
I would be okay with the 8 badges and elite four stuff if it had the same scale and mechanics that PLA has. Imagine a Pokémon game with routes that actually feel like mini adventures instead of just corridors to ferry you to the next location with wide sprawling areas and wild Pokémon wandering around.

1:55 yes and no. I had played it for 23hrs the pokedex tells you that you have to catch a certain number of, for example a bidoof, in order to get the research point on your pokedex. There are a lot of objectives so you dont necessarily have to catch a lot of bidoof to complete level 10 for its pokedex entry but if you wanna 100% the Pokedex you do have to catch the required number of Pokemon that the dex is asking for.
You literally can choose, you only need to catch one. Then just pick other stuff from the rest of the list Use x move, feed it, defeat it.
While watching this vid, at the part about the stealth rocks, it made me think about how it's another thing from SwSh they've brought over after testing it in those games. Basically the G-Max moves that caused damage over time reworked into stealth rocks for this game, I love seeing systems fully brought into their new games after being tested. This is a great video, as are all of yours :)

As someone who has watched someone played the game entirely quickly, I like the fact that they removed the move reminder person. Instead, you can choose your mons' move set from the menu. There are also tutor moves, but it'll cost some money to teach them. There's also a man who increases your equipment slots(since your bag will get full a lot), but it'll cost $ & will go up in price, which makes u think if u want to spend $ on that vs on the new balls or other items. I also love the story & all the ancestors that show up in Hisui & how the story shows how the ruins at Mt. Coronet got ruined, it's an awesome scene 👏

@@Oldsnake89. badges no. The star system from the survey corps basically replaces that. No gyms at all. No E4 either. The only trainers u would fight are the wardens & other characters in the story. That's it

i thought this was a really cheap point actually, i rolled my eyes. yes, the gameplay is most important. that doesn't mean we shouldn't critique and expect better when nintendo's other main titles objectively look better

Even tho there's no breeding, I accept the challenge of shiny hunting wild mons. I will definitely be playing a ton of the game, especially since I don't have to worry about trading to evolve my shiny haunter that I'll get once I get the game.

The combat looks like they belong in Digimon games and honestly that has me stoked. I'm 100% team Digimon but I'm super excited for this game to come out. Its downloaded on my switch waiting for Friday.

Lol its not the best pokemon game ever gotten rofl!! Its better than sword & shield, which was fking garbage. Lets go pikachu & evee was a more gripping game in many aspects. This is just new & the semi open world element is a good bit of freedom. Its good, its well off a 10/10 game though.

I just played the game for 5 hours, the gameplay is aight at best but everything else about the game is absolutely terrible + you're just constantly harrassed by terrible dialogue and cutscenes. The game is really lazy and unpolished
