  • What did you think of this build? I ran out of time for the scabbard, but if you're going to be at Blade show in June, it will be complete for that. Come by and take a look!

    • Well consider that damascus forging make a lot of scales. This was a kind of tldamascudls that left even a lot more due to the many steps needed, also since he had do do more heat than "needed" (due to him having a relatively small forge) it led to even more scales.

      @andreacapani2170@andreacapani217011 күн бұрын
    • @@andreacapani2170 the scale that came off during the last step from multiple heats is pretty inconsequential to the total volume of scale. The vast majority was from forging the Damascus itself, not from drawing out the sword.

  • Beautiful damascus sword. Really enjoy your videos and watching your very quick progress over a short period. You have gift. One thing that I think would be great to know about these competition builds is the approximate cost in materials, abrasives and time? Seems to be a perspective that isn't often discussed for some reason.

    @jodydixon1382@jodydixon13829 күн бұрын
    • This one is about $500 in materials. It's about $200 just in the steel, plus the gold, sharkskin, consumables like propane, electricity, abrasives, wax, oil, wood, etc. The biggest cost of course is the labor. At about 80 hours of labor or more (and that's not minimum wage labor), that's where the majority of the cost comes from. Thanks for watching.
