What did you think of this build? I ran out of time for the scabbard, but if you're going to be at Blade show in June, it will be complete for that. Come by and take a look!
You’re a legend dude. Creative, great execution and spin on the prompt
I think you're an absolute madman. That was something else and definitely creeping into master smith territory.
The graphics really helped out for those ,me, that have limited mosaic know how but all that work ,Jesus. Well done
@@joshh65thanks for watching!! ❤
@@krissteel4074thanks, Kris!! ❤️
Really appreciate the graphics of the patterns. Makes it easier to follow the process.
I’m glad the graphics are helpful! Thanks for watching
The graphics really helped me wrap my mind around your pattern design forging process... Bloody heck! 🤯
@@TyrellKnifeworks it is amazing very cool idea, sometimes if it is just hand sketched in the beinggining it is difficult to follow, super approachable
your such an insparation, iam a young blacksmith(12 yrs) i love making knives, and you are soooooo good at it, thanks for awsome videos, i could not have became as good as i am without your videos😀😀😀😀😀😀. btw i liked my own comment XD
Thanks so much, Dave! I love hearing from young makers and I’m honored to have inspired you. Keep at it! ❤️
You should check out Alec Steele, if you haven’t already. He is in his mid 20’s now but he started when he was about your age.
That is the first time I've ever seen someone show how much steel you lose to scale, etc. That's bloody amazing how much waste there is! Appreciate those little things! Thank you.
It was the first time I’ve done it too. It was surprising to me even. Thanks for watching.
Well consider that damascus forging make a lot of scales. This was a kind of tldamascudls that left even a lot more due to the many steps needed, also since he had do do more heat than "needed" (due to him having a relatively small forge) it led to even more scales.
@@andreacapani2170 the scale that came off during the last step from multiple heats is pretty inconsequential to the total volume of scale. The vast majority was from forging the Damascus itself, not from drawing out the sword.
@@andreacapani2170 makes absolutely zero sense 🤦♂️
@@TyrellKnifeworks are we getting a damascus blade entirely from the scale? lol
That is a really cool mosaic pattern. The Damascus hilt pieces were a nice touch, although the pommel is a little small compared to other historical pieces but the shape is quite accurate. Overall I like it. Great job on this one.
Thanks for checking it out! Please remember to vote!
As I've said on the past, I love the fact that you put the pattern formation during the steps during the build. It makes the whole process of watching what you do and the outcome so much better. So please never stop putting in that extra effort that makes the video so much more informational
Everyone loves the graphics so I’ll certainly keep going with them. Thanks for following the channel!
This is easily the most complex forge I've seen yet. Simply amazing.
Thanks for tuning in!
Man that's a ton of steel! Awesome Damascus work there! I'm loving the use of the SGA for the distal tapering.
It was hard because the sword is twice the length of my SGA so math was involved. 😉. Thanks for watching!
Great, amazing work!! The mosaic makes the blade look beautifully carved, as if ancient magic was cast on it.
Thank you very much! I tried to endow it with as much magic as possible! 😜
Have you Named it yet...?
The most incredible sword I’ve ever seen! You are a national treasure. Thank you for being you. Keep doing what you do and do more of it!
Thanks so much, David! I appreciate you checking it out!
What an amazing piece of art! The mosaic pattern is incredible. You really outdid yourself this time Denis. And I can't believe how much steel is lost to scale. It's crazy. Long live the jackfruit!
Yeah, I was surprised it was that much scale and offcuts as well! Those jackfruits are tough. 😜. Thanks for watching, Jim!
Well 10:37 That's a clever way of surfacing something long. I need to keep this trick in mind for when I'll have one! 🤣 Epic pattern. On such a long blade too, real impressive! The star on the pommel nut is also sick. Congratulations!
Thanks, Gader! I appreciate use you checking it out!
So today I watched this on my 55” tv. Much better. Love watching a master work
Thanks for tuning in, Gino!
I don't know how many times I've said this but you keep out doing yourself over and over. Fantastic work my friend 👍 I'll be seeing it at blade show
Thanks for tuning in, Richard! This one will definitely be at Blade show. 😉
It looks amazing and I just watched BlackBeards and he isn't playing around. Alot of talented Blacksmiths/knife makers out on KZhead
Soo many amazing builds on this one! The viewer submissions are top notch too. Thanks for watching, Tony. Remember to vote!
That.. IS and amazing piece of functional art!
Thanks for taking a look, Dave! ❤️🙏. Please remember to vote!
Man. That is a beautiful piece. Very well done. The pattern came out really well. The cross guard, handle, and pommel all fit that blade very nicely.
Thank you very much! Don’t forget to vote! 🙏
Madness! Thats an incredible pattern. Thank you for the graphics so we can undestand better the process. I think there will be a tight duel between your sword and Black Beard's one.
Thanks for checking out this build!
I'm off to watch the others now but holy moly they're gonna have to work hard to beat this!
Thanks for taking a look! Make sure to vote!
That is an INCREDIBLE pattern! Much respect for all the work that went into this build. I'm going to have to have you make one of these for me some day...
Just reach out via my website. Thanks for watching, Mark!
That is a staggeringly beautiful pattern! What a sword. Amazing work my guy. 🤘
Thanks, Phil! I’ll be getting through all the videos tonight and tomorrow. 👍
That is a BEAUTIFUL sword!! One of best builds I've watched.
Thanks for tuning in, Bobby!
this is definitely a contender for best blade you've ever made.
Thanks so much! I really like the pattern on this one. Please remember to vote! 🙏
Those other boys made some cool stuff, but this was a whole 'nother level with the pattern Damascus. Watching some of those other power hammers making Goliath macaroni bananas had me in pain; I had to go back after all done watching all the other entrants and watch your video again to restore Order, Beauty, and Perfection to my Mind. Thank you for taking the trouble to do that. It strengthens my Faith in Humanity. Wow!
@@Horus2Osiristhanks so much! ❤
wow, that came out nice! great job. The contrast between the blade and handle work matched awesome. Good luck! I almost feel sorry for your competition! I haven't seen their work yet, but it was awesome that you took the time to make sure everyone is known.
Thanks for checkout out this build, Robert! Be sure to vote! 😉
That pattern is insane! Love the look of it. Good luck!
Thanks for tuning in!
I trust you will be successful in your endeavor. The sword is indeed a remarkable piece of craftsmanship.
Thanks for taking a look!
Best damascus pattern I've seen in this challenge!

I always get so excited when I get on and see a new full build video! Looks absolutely amazing!
Thanks for following the channel! ❤️
Holy cow, Denis! You just keep raising that bar! I seem to usually describe your work as stunning…I need to raise the bar as well! 😂
Thanks for following along! This was a fun one and I'm really pleased with the pattern.
Wow... amazing... it looks like an legendary sword! Thx from Germamy, for this amazing Work! You are a real Master of forging.
Thanks for watching, Patrick!
This is definitely the most beautiful end product I've ever seen from a damascus sword build on youtube! Hella nice work on this ⭐⭐⭐🌟🌟🌟🌗
Thanks so much! I appreciate you tuning in ‘
I've seen the final job, before see this wonderful video. You're really an artist. Thanks so much to share your work.👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much, Alexandre. I appreciate you watching.
Absolutely stunning work Denis! Amazing! Gorgeous build!
Thanks so much, Ben! ❤️
I particularly like you explanation and graphic of the patterns you are trying to achieve. Funny while watching I was wondering how much steel you lose to scale and then you answered that. Thanks.
Thanks for checking out this build!
Outstanding! Beautiful work, both sword and video.
Thank you! Cheers! Make sure to vote!
Impeccable work, as always. I really enjoyed watching this one come to life, and seeing your process.
Thank you very much! I appreciate you checking it out n
Great work Dennis. That pattern is amazing. I enjoyed seeing the you weigh the scale taken off. It shocked me on just how much weight is lost.
It shocked me too! Thanks for watching n
@@TyrellKnifeworks I’m looking forward to seeing what you bring to Blade Atlanta. I can’t believe it’s such a short time away.
Yet another fine piece of work-Well done!!
Thanks for checking it out! ❤️
my favourite channel. Thank you, master, for sharing your work
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching
scary part of your work is how easy you make it look... amazing as always
Thanks for tuning in! ❤️
Like he's making a sandwich... Then at the end, it emerges from the etch... Excalibur would be jealous.
That is another truly epic piece Dennis! Thank you once again!
Thanks for checking this one out, Stephen! ❤️. Please remember to vote!
Amazing work! Your pieces never fail to amaze me.
Thanks for watching, Andrew!
Great pattern!
Thanks for checking it out, Steve! ❤️
I would say you won the challenge and I don’t even need to watch the rest but that could be because you’re the best blade smith I’ve ever seen on KZhead hands down
Thanks so much, Michael! I really appreciate that. ❤️
You're correct, but those other projects are practical art as well. Somebody had to win, 🤣
@@Horus2Osiris Honestly, I had a hard time picking between Dennis, Black Beard, and Harpia Knives (a new channel to me, and immediately earned a subscription). But this blade won my vote in the end...
Those are beautiful, each was one of a kind... Even the Viking Bar will eventually reincarnate as a sword😂
Thats badass! The amount of waste is nuts! Great Job Dennis.
Yeah, I was even surprised by the amount of waste. 😳. Thanks for watching, Erick. I’ll be bingeing all the videos tonight/tomorrow.
Great job Denis! Been listening to the podcast and it's great to see the finished product. It turned out beautifully.
Thanks a bunch! I appreciate you listening and watching.
@@TyrellKnifeworks also before I forget you deserve a big ol congratulations 🎊. Hitting that retirement and being able to put more time into a craft you love has got to be an awesome feeling. I think I've got 25-30 more years left myself lol
@@cae2487 thanks!
Great build. The mosaic looks awesome.
Thanks, JP! I'm off to watch some of the other builds now!
Incredible work! Awesome!
Thanks for taking a look, Steve!
Beautiful sword! Appreciate the scale demo too. I've been curious about that!
I was even surprised how much there was. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful damascus sword. Really enjoy your videos and watching your very quick progress over a short period. You have gift. One thing that I think would be great to know about these competition builds is the approximate cost in materials, abrasives and time? Seems to be a perspective that isn't often discussed for some reason.
This one is about $500 in materials. It's about $200 just in the steel, plus the gold, sharkskin, consumables like propane, electricity, abrasives, wax, oil, wood, etc. The biggest cost of course is the labor. At about 80 hours of labor or more (and that's not minimum wage labor), that's where the majority of the cost comes from. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely stunning blade Denis! Magnificent work!
Thank you very much! I appreciate you checking it out
Great video and build man! That thing came out amazing.
Thanks for checking it out, Noah! ❤️
What a piece of art!

Loved seeing the waste weighed out, I'm always curious about that.
I was even surprised how much there was! Thanks for watching
Absolutely amazing work.
Thank you! Cheers!❤️
@@TyrellKnifeworks What does something like that cost? Moreover, do you sell any of the blank Damascus steel?
Sorry, I don’t sell raw Damascus billets. This sword will be in the $10k range. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching, Gregory.
Very nice work! That damascus is amazing!
Thanks for checking it out, Josh!
Man that blade looks phenomenal!
Thanks for checking it out! ❤️
Wow! That damascus turned out amazing!! I never would have thought there would be so much waste just from the scale. At 15:45 I can see why Jerid would call it a gigantic wing nut 😂
Ha, yeah it did look like a wing but for sure! 🤣. Thanks for watching
Came out great man. Love the pattern! She’s a bigun!
Thanks, Tony! I’ll be bingeing all the videos later today.
Wow! Amaizing work! 🎉🎉🎉

Holy crap! That's beautiful!
Thanks for taking a look!
Beautiful build!
Thanks for taking a look, James!
Made my vote. Maybe in the future there could be a thieves challenge where you “steal” the material from opponents
That'd be pretty tough, the competitors are all over the globe and shipping things all around would be a pain. It's likely the Apocalypse challenge will be the next one! Thanks for watching.
The pattern on that blade though? OMG it's amazing.
Thanks for checking it out! ❤️
God i really hope i can live my best life at your age like you do once i make it there, just happily pouring my time and energy into a passion i love! love to see it
It really is the best feeling! Work hard so your life becomes playing hard! 😉. Thanks for watching

As an avid fan of all things viking and norse this is amazing, if I could afford to have you make a viking seax and shipped to Scotland I would haha
Thanks for watching, Louis! I may be doing a Scottish claymore at some point. 😉
@TyrellKnifeworks aww that's definitely going to look bad ass!! Might be the time to get the bigger forge you've been yearning for ;)
