  • They begin with a big block of boneless homogenized "fish meat." The interesting part of the process would be seeing how they get that. The rest of the process is just reshaping a block into a stick.

  • Crab sticks or imitation crab are a type of seafood made of starch and finely pulverized white fish that has been shaped and cured to resemble the leg meat of snow crab or Japanese spider crab. It is a product that uses fish meat to imitate shellfish meat. This invention made it possible for average household to eat crab-like food for cheap!

  • Crab sticks are just a flavor. Crabs aren’t needed. Tuna is just a flavor, and Salmon is just a flavor. The fishing industry has created a monopoly on flavors. They “own” crab flavor, and they won’t allow (for example) tofu companies to make crab tofu, and salmon tofu, and tuna tofu. That would mitigate a lot of Japan’s approaching sushi shortage. I’m not trying to criticize Japan. I’m just saying that all countries will have to adjust to the new situation. If Japanese children grow-up on flavored tofu, they’ll consider it to be normal. And there’s also farm-raised catfish, eel, and shrimp. No more seafood, there’s a global ban approaching.

    • The English translation of what you wrote says, "crab meat does not contain crab directly." That's a problem considering something you sell as Crab Meat should very definitely contain Crab Meat directly. Why not call them something else instead of Crab Meat? I'm not saying they aren't delicious, I just don't appreciate your Black Magic, Occult Business Practices.

    • @@andy31793 to be fair, (from what I know) obtaining that much of an actual crab meat for that scale of mass production will be a chalenge of it self. I sometimes eat them directly form the shell, cooked as curry, and it was always a hassle as not many crab is the big one you can just poke with things to gather the small amount of meat it will give. And it is an imitation anyway,

  • Sorry for any miss transition. but I believe they are called it grows do to an underhanded deal in the USA it was called pink slime, it had similar processes as this but it was 98% beef scraps. the problem was it was not a choice in where it was being used in school lunches, passed off as lean and healthy beef. We have something like Crab sticks called Spam it is ham but it removes the meat from the bone that would normally be wasted. I believe the difference between the two is pink slime wanted it's possessed nature kept away from public eye, Spam the inventer came out and said how and showed it had a strange process, but it was made during the great depression to save people money when life was harder and stuck around.
