The only reason why we claim Illyrians as our forefathers is because of cultural reasons, not because of Kosovo { even though the war is enough justification for it being ours but i digress }. The sources we use for our claim in Epirus stem from the medieval era where there's a clear mention of an albanian population living there, our claims are not from the antiquity unlike the Greek claims. Leaving out venetian influence in Illyrian, whatever texts we have before the Roman conquest in the region, it corresponds with Albanian quite thoroughly. All modern peoples are mixtures, you can't use this "X people descent from all these other peoples" in an argument. Besides, DNA has shown that Albanians are among the oldest people in Europe fitting in our narrative of our ancestors being an ancient Balkan people. Britain and France did not help us, if anything they were more of your allies. Hell, they and Italy wanted to partition Albania alongside it's neighbors, the only reason why that didn't happen was because Woodrow Wilson didn't allow it. Also Albania gained it's independence after the first Balkan war, not World War.

      @Dhimo758@Dhimo7583 жыл бұрын
    • @@stomio6491 it really doesn't matter who was living in Epirus at the time, be they Greek or Illyrian or a pre Indo-European peoples. What matters is that the leaders of said land were Greeks/followed Greek culture more than their own, simple really. Here i suppose : www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.intoalbania.com%2Fattraction%2Fmosaic-of-mesaplik%2F&psig=AOvVaw327WZuQV5MmiZRLHQC8ySn&ust=1593962633900000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CA0QjhxqFwoTCLinzdnzs-oCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD Here is a mosaic from around VI century A.D., it was found in the city of Vlora, it has various foods "painted" in it and it has the saying "A pak, ke tac". This is note worthy given by the fact that it aligns perfectly with Gheg Albanian and the people, particularly the old still us this phrase { it basically translates to "eat less, so you'll have more to eat for later" } The Mycenaeans are the first people { that we know off } that spoke Greek, in essence they're the "first Greeks". They almost exclusively used to inhabit the South of Greece, thus if there were some peoples staying the north to them, they most likely got absorbed into the Greeks over time. This may also be true about the Illyrians as well. The Greeks living in South Albania/North Epirus moved in during the 90s when land was cheaper to purchase than in Greece. Also, a lot of the those people descent from communist revolutionaires who found refuge in Albania. Russia and France wanted to give North Epirus to Greece, however Italy and Austria Hungary were against it given the fact that the area was almost completely homogeneous Albanian lands with a couple of Aromanian/Vlach families. Actually, Albanians only immigrated to the then Byzantine Empire simply because they were ordered to do so. These areas were almost completely whipped out because of the plague, thus they were sent there as colonialists to re populate the lands, soon enough they also became feared war lords as well. P.S. apologies for the late reply

      @Dhimo758@Dhimo7583 жыл бұрын
    • @@stomio6491 Hello Stomio. I sent you a reply in another video showing to you that albanians have not originated from the Caucasus. So no, they have no relation. Also, albanians had a nation before the ottoman invasion. The Principality of Arbanon (you saw it in this video). They also had multiple principalities that fought against the ottomans. So no, they deserved their own independent country, direct descendants of the illyrians or not. Edit: It is good to see someone who is not albanian be interested in albanian history.

    • @@stomio6491 I knew about the city of Saranda having a greek majority, but the other cities of Northern Epirus have an albanian majority. Greeks have claims of Northern Epirus, while albanians have claims of what they call "Çamëria". We can't let the past determine our future. We now live in peace and within borders recognized by all other countries. We've had these borders since 1913. We need to move on and improve relations instead of being stuck with arguments of Northern Epirus being greek or Çamëria being albanian.

  • There's a mistake in your video: after WW1, prince William never returned to Albania; his was a government in exile and he played no role in politics. There was a series of governments led by Panderi Evangjeli, Ilias Vrioni, Xhafer Ypi, Fan Noli and others. Also Zog was Minister of the Interior from 1921-1924 (and by all accounts the real source of power) before Noli came to power in '24.

His family was brought to Kavala from the Eastern Black Sea region of modern day Turkey. However there were some important Albanians who left Turkey and moved to Egypt for different reasons. Turkey's national poet Mehmed Akif Ersoy was an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo.

    • @olsi pajo As you know, Turks and Muslim Albanians created families. Of course it's possible that Mehmed Ali Pasha or I have some Albanian blood. But ethnic and cultural roots of him show that he was Turkish. Even after a century Turkish was spoken in the Egyptian palace. The relatives of the Khidiv (Title of the family of the Pasha) served to Turkey and they were speaking Turkish as mother tongue not Albanian. (Example: Said Halim Pasha - Prime Minister of the Empire during the World War).

    • @olsi pajo I have read the article but this article doesn't show that he is an Albanian. Please find and read the letters of his son Ibrahim Pasha. This is not a propaganda. Golem overthrowed Grigor but Arbanon was already weak since byzantines didnt keep the promises and anexed albania fully. Then durin epirus-byzantine war the population supported epirus in the south while the lords byzantines. And at the end albanians just choosed normans from sicily since both epirus and byzantines betrayed them

Also Serbs were a very big minority in Albania so what you said is bullshit. You do not even need documents to see who was first, simple genetics shows Serbs mostly have genetics similar to other Slavs and Albanians are closer to antique Balkan populations.

  • But Arber was under Greek influence so technically it doesn't have any relation to Shiptars who are living there now. Also you named the second part "Epirus autonomous area" - first of all it's not a state since it doesn't have military independence, then Epirius was on the north of what you showed... Then you showed that they conquered the whole Greece. How does a principality conquer all the Greek states? What historical sources did you pull that from? League of Lezhe was ruled by Đorđe Kastrioti (his parents were both orthodox Serbs). So officially under this influence Shiptars on that region don't have history until 1912 because noone mentions them in any sources until WWI.
