    @arizonabusinessleague918@arizonabusinessleague9182 жыл бұрын
    • It did that from 1878 (when liberated) until 1912, during the Golden Era (or whatever it is called - late Victorian and until the 1910s) - and then wasted everything, in the wars. Also, there were some wealthy Bulgarian traders, crafts, production, massive agriculture. etc., within the Ottoman empire, during the Bulgarian Revival, in the 19th century, so it did not start from nothing, it had its background.

      @stanislavdaganov574@stanislavdaganov5742 жыл бұрын
    • Long story short - help from Russia, loans, reorganizing army, capturing of others equipment lead to the assumption that we are unbeatable 1. Help from Russia since they wanted to expand their sphere of influence (these days Serbia is more of the target, but back then it was Bulgaria) They played the decisive role in the Liberation War 1878, and also with equipment and training of the then newly formed bulgarian military units 2. Experience in the Serbo-Bulgarian War 1885 3. After the russian defeat in the Russo-Japanene War 1904, bulgarian war doctrines switch from russian ones, to french 4. 1908 we take massive loans from the west and purchase equipment from Austro-Hungary, France and Germany 5. The highly unlikely at the time capturing of Adrianopolis and other big Ottoman cities in the First Balkan war brought MAJOR equipment (from Adrianopolis alone Bulgaria captured 16 war flags, 600 cannons and many more rifles) 6. Sheer volume of bulgarians back then compared to their bordering nations, but I don't want to go back 500 years explaining that :D

They just weren’t bulgarian leaders as we had no noble families back then so yeah ... we were led by the greed of foreigners who did not seek to unite bulgars but rather expand their sovereignty regions as in an act of a God complex. Nationalism led us to strive for the territory Great Bulgaria once had under Simeon Veliki , but I personally do not justify that ideal since it had happened a millennia before the Balkan Wars. • The first national catastrophe for Bulgaria. A few things are worth mentioning in relation to the video. The whole reason why Bulgaria joined the war efforts was because of its national unification. Only a few months after it was liberated by Russia in 1878, on the congress of Berlin, Bulgaria was divided by the Great Powers into small territories, most of which were returned to the Ottomans. The reason for this act was because the powerful empires did not wish to have a large pro-Russian state on the Balkans. So they decided to sacrifice our people's freedom, to get what they want. Millions of Bulgarians remained under Ottoman rule - something that no liberated Bulgarian would allow. From this point on it was the main priority for our country - to free our brethren in Macedonia and Thrace. This is why Bulgaria was so eager to go to war and which drove all men in the country to join the army. There were whole villages left with no men in them because they were all to war with the Muslims. And here is where it all gets twisted. The German monarch of Bulgaria - Ferdinand, who was just recently recognized as a Tsar in 1908, saw this potential and wanted to exploit it for his benefit. He started to talk about his coronation in the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople - a city that never belonged to Bulgaria in the first place. You see from the video that he decided on his own to attack our neighbors, but what you don't see is that the Bulgarian soldiers were tired, had no supplies, and adequate equipment for yet another war. The worst part was the lack of moral to the Bulgarian troops, who were confused and frustrated to fight against the Greeks and the Serbs after they've won so many victories against the Turks together. Bulgarian Tsar - Ferdinand deserved to lose like that, but the Bulgarian people didn't. They fought bravely in the First Balkan War to liberate their brothers from 5 centuries of Muslim rule, and what they received, in the end, was a shameful loss. The lands which they liberated were returned to the Turks or were taken by other countries - which hurts the most because there were Bulgarians living there. Never again after that did Bulgaria have the same fighting spirit, as people realized that no matter how good your cause is, no matter how good you fight for it, politicians can always fail you for their own agendas.

You failed to mention that agreement four Balkan countries had prior to starting the war was that Serbia was going to get almost all of Old Serbia (nowadays known as Albania). Serbia liberated these territories but Germany organized local Albanian minority to issue Declaration on independence of Albania in November 1912. and recognized newly invented "nation" in 1913. At that time there was not standardized Albanian language nor alphabet, nor a sense of belonging to Albanian nation since local tribes did not speak common language. At the time there were over 300000 Serbs living in these territories. Since Serbia thanks to Germans did not get the territories promised to her (Western countries could not permit Serbia to get access to Adriatic Sea because of strong ties with Russia) Serbia decided to keep territories in Macedonia which she liberated anyway. Bulgaria, heavily influenced by Germany was not happy and started war in order to spread German influence over all of Balkans. After that Serbs in newly invented Albania (Germans seated Prince Wilhelm of Wied who reigned briefly as sovereign of the Principality of Albania as Vilhelm I) were exposed to unspeakable atrocities. Now there are Serbs living in Albania but have no schools in their native language and all their churches were destroyed and their personal names changed. However, the names of rivers and villages show Serbian origin. There is river Bistrica (Bistricë is a river in southwestern Albania. It ends in the Ionian Sea. Name of the river is of the Serbian origin, meaning "clear water") and villages like Bistrice, Valahove (Serbian Village), Glina, Kamenica, Gorice... See video of Serbian woman I made last summer in Southern Albania near Greek border. She clearly says her name Lenka Kostic was changed to Lena Costa and that her mother Maria did not speak Albanian but Serbian only. Her father's name was Todor kzhead.info/sun/adlsmsVsbKJ8dGg/bejne.html

Also if that map is correct the Bulgarians had two full armies sitting out the offensive One of those armies on the Serbian Flank could have knocked the Serbs out in the first days. of the war. The Greeks would have to come to the table. But that war was stupid A joint effort to chase the Ottomans from Europe should have been the first order of business. I thought Constantinople was the holiest City in Eastern Orthodoxy apparently it’s recapture wasn’t as important.as Macedonia.

      @hoponpop3330@hoponpop33304 жыл бұрын
    • @@hoponpop3330 you have a point if you think strategically. If all the Balkan states united behind the goal and are able to capture Constantinople it would be of great strategic value. However: 1) Constantinople is hard to capture and of the Balkan states only the Greek has a navy and it's probably not enough for an effective blockade. Constantinople is so hard to capture that when the Ottomans conquered pretty much all of the Balkans the remnants of the Byzantine(Eastern Roman Empire) were still holding on to Constantinople. 2) There is historic animosity between the Balkan nations and Ottomans are far from the only enemy. Serbia attacked Bulgaria because the latter unified its territories and declared independence in 1885. On top of that both Serbs and Greeks have been suppressing a population in Macedonia that identified as Bulgarian in the goals of claiming it. Bulgarians felt their duty was to respond to that and step in to protect their people even if the situation was less than favorable(Romania outright declaring they would join in and nothing less expected by the Ottomans as well). 3) This war was never about conquest or revanchism against the Ottomans for Bulgarians(my guess is that Greek and Serbians somewhat view it the same way). It was about unifying the Bulgarian population, which outside of Bulgaria was mostly in Macedonia at that point and under attack by both Serbs and Greeks. 4) Constantinople, while being, a life goal for some of the Bulgarian tzars throughout history has never been populated by Bulgarians. Greeks would claim that it was their city but the majority of its population for centuries at that point is Ottoman and it would be very hard to justify holding it or actually be able to keep it if the Balkan League captured it, especially if there is infighting and disagreement. In the end the IInd Balkan war was most definitely not the smart move by Ferdinand but in some sense it was the only available one, unfortunately. Looking back through history and the knowledge of what followed it would have for sure been better for Bulgaria and the tzar if they solidified their defenses instead of "lash out" at their former allies but hindsight is 20/20, and there were a lot of variables that factored in the catastrophe that unfolded.

My great grandmother /one of their daughters/ had to work at the age of 8. She had to cross the mountin and lead donkeys, loaded with coal, from the coal mines to the village, through the deep forest every day. Alone. Another great grandfather came back from the war with one leg. His brother too. Their father, looking at them had said "I have two sons with two legs". • Germans are to be blamed. Ferdinand was not Bulgarian but German. His goal was not to enlarge Bulgaria but to dominate the Balkans. She clearly says her name Lenka Kostic was changed to Lena Csta and that her mother Maria did not speak Albanian but Serbian only. Her father's name was Todor kzhead.info/sun/adlsmsVsbKJ8dGg/bejne.html
