Portable power stations are like having an electrical outlet in a box. Power is stored in a giant rechargeable lithium battery inside the unit, and these power packs are equipped with AC outlets, DC outlets, and USB charging ports to power a variety of devices including phones, laptops, televisions, and even AC appliances like a refrigerator.

Portable Power Stations can be charged with any standard wall outlet or your car’s 12 volt outlet, but can also be paired with solar panels to create a solar generator that’s charged by the power of the sun. Their versatility and convenience makes these power generators great to have as an emergency home battery backup, useful for camping and outdoor activities, and a great addition to RV’s, vans, and even boats. A gas free generator, these lithium power stations make a great emergency power supply for backup power.
The Power Stations we’ll be featuring are classified by Watt Hours.
We’ll be highlighting the important features of each Portable Power Station, as well as providing examples of devices they can power. We selected models based on personal testing in 2020, Amazon reviews, and other trustworthy portable power station reviews from around the web, and excluded models of portable power supplies which had any reported major flaws.
Portable power stations are an excellent solution to provide off grid power for many applications. Made for the outdoors, camping, emergency preparedness, backup battery supply, CPAP machines and more they can function as a camping generator, solar generator, backup generator, backup power, and a solar battery.
There are many great options for these portable power generators and we included the Jackery Portable Power Station, and also show the Jackery, Jackery 500, Jackery 240 and Jackery 160.
We showed the Goal Zero Yeti 1000, but also discuss the larger options such as the Goal Zero Yeti 3000. GoalZero also makes other sizes such as the Goal Zero Yeti 400, Goal Zero Yeti 1400, and the lightest Goal Zero Yeti 150. All these goal zero power stations pair great with goal zero solar panels for a portable solar inverter.

  • The reason I'm interested is... I just completely refurbished a Vintage 1972 Aristocrat Travel Trailer and I'm 65 years old and I am going to be living in it for awhile (excuse to camp)... (Not my first rodeo). This is a great video, thank you for sharing this... it really helped.

  • I purchased the Suaoki and can highly recommend it. I use it in our RV as we always boondock, and rarely run our generator. We recharge the Suaoki when we are driving from one spot to another. It has been a great addition to our travels. They have excellent customer service as well. The 12-volt charging cord it came with did not function and they sent us a new one pronto.

  • i am interested in using a high capacity lithium power station in a self build campervan as an alternative to stand alone batteries. Your summation is very good but focused on portability and therefore only small capacity power stations. This technology is changing very rapidly and it would be good if you could feature larger capacity units which are still portable but heavier in weight. Good video.

  • Thanks for the breakdown. I need to know about power consumption / run time for guitar amps and floor pedals. I am a musician and because of Covid-19 restrictions on indoor performances, we have had to take our music to the streets and parks. There are NO GENERATOR restrictions in most public areas, so we had to go battery powered with much of our gear. This meant reducing our amplification to Roland Cube amps, which are small and less powerful signals. I need to be able to power up a decent guitar amp and it has to have power for at least 3 hours. Can you comment about how to determine the answer to this question please?

    • Even deep cycle lead acid golf cart or RV batteries are only around 900Wh and only half of that power is accessible without prematurely degrading the battery. Some of these newer lithium units are smaller, while holding 3-4 times that, 90% of which is accessible. That's enough power to do stuff you would never have thought of using batteries for a decade ago, like boiling water or cooking food. It's amazing how far batteries have come in that time, especially with bringing the prices down. It makes you wonder what will become possible to do off grid when solid state batteries hit the market. Even welding would be no problem.

I have aquariums & pet habitats that depend on electricity for heat & clean living. So they can't go without electricity for more than a few hours. During the summer & spring I don't use the aquarium heaters as my apartment is at 78°f which keeps the aquariums perfect. But this current article front that has us sitting colder than Alaska, is a real threat as I can barely keep my apartment around 70°f.

  • I need to power dometic CFX-3 75 DZ, ( which I think pulls fairly light power) and some basic camp lights, charge computer other device's, and maybe a few more things... looking at Tbe River Expandable ( seems like solid value) don't need as much as a camper or full size fridges for days. I dont really want to bother it, just be able to use 3 days and nights, as many unlimited ( all this light overlanding off grid) 4-5 days of super low activity. I want to set and forget for the most part. I hear really wacko reviews ( I dug deep) on this INERGY Stuff. Not interested, but what else can power those fairly well without a re-charge? Any ideas? I know its fast and easy to infact re charge these, but I want to set up and leave it, charge once back home. Definitely not looking for a home.generator replacement...hopefully someone can shoot a few I haven't seen. Solar may be in the future- but certain. Ecoflow seems cool, like the extra battery expansion. Appreciate any responses if you care to share.

  • I am extremely new to the solar powered generator power bank scene. I live in South Florida and impira fide of hurricanes. Not the actual hurricane itself since I survived Hurricane Andrew as a little kid but more so I'm terrified of the aftermath. Go power and no communication. Even in 2005 when Hurricane Wilma struck Fort Lauderdale. You have no idea how much of a pain in the ass a simple category 1 storm can be. Very little structural damage but many areas went two or three weeks without electricity because of all of the tree damage bringing down the power lines. Thankfully unlike Andrew Hurricane Wilma brought a cold front so nighttime temperatures we're in the upper 50s

We will be doing a bit of boondocking and dispersed off grid camping for a couple of days at a time, the R.V. we are looking at already has a built in 220 watt solar panel and 110 outlets but the only way to get 110 power is to be plugged into "shore power" was thinking a portable power supply like the Yeti goal zero1000 or 3000 could be a good alternative. What's your opinion?

    @robertsheward9336@robertsheward93364 жыл бұрын
    • Yes absolutely. A 3000 would be plenty of power for some small to medium appliances for several days. You’ll have to look into the compatibility with the current solar panel system you have but you can also just charge it up at home from a wall outlet before your trip

They manufacture some larger capacity power stations that can be recharged much faster (and have more features) than some of the Goal Zero products - and the price points are similar - or in some cases, less expensive. FYI, indiegogo.com is currently running a campaign on the new Bluetti AC200 (2000W/1700Wh) power station: www.indiegogo.com/projects/bluetti-ac200-most-versatile-solar-power-station#/ Check it out - the campaign closes in 6 days. • I run an Etsy shop and also do craft shows. I don't mean indoor wimpy 1-2 day shows lol I mean BIG Balloon Festivals, state fairs, fall festivals etc where you have to BE at your booth way before the sun rises and and late into the evenings. Events are sometimes 4-5 days long. Power is mostly reserved for FOOD vendors so getting power to your booth provided by these events is a challenge. Therefore having my own power source to run lights, charge my phone or tablet so I can take card payments. Run Cameras to detour and keep a watchful eye on those who choose not to pay for items. Being able to CONSTANTLY run my printer, hot glue gun and cricut machine is a MUST so it must hold enough power to do these things with little sun during the event so that I can recharge after the event is over. I've had to run extension cords an ungodly distance to get power before and then only to have the booth next to me sneak under the tent and plug into my power outlet. Crafters are an untapped resource for these types of power stations. We've always done local events and our booth has always been one of the busiest so this year we are going on the road purchasing a cargo trailer in July. We are more than willing to be a sponsor and do reviews as we WILL be starting a KZhead channel this year as well. #TheRibbonChicks

Just ride/ camp recharge and keep going . Every new electric motor bike should have one. Maybe even one for a car , sort of like the 10 ltr petrol can for ice cars .

  • There is on amazon LED lights that only use 3 watts ( Homelek) and put out a 40 watt equivalent . They screw into a regular socket , so you can light a room for next to nothing . These power sources would work well with these lights .

  • Do you know anything about the hydrogen process being developed by HPQ SILICON and APOLLON Solar? I believe it is being used by the French military because it’s portable. Please explain their process and pros and cons if you can.

  • This would have been a lot more helpful if capacity tests had been run. There are lots of cheap, off shore units making big claims but their actual performance is dubious. The Goal Zero brand is more costly but lives up to its specs.

  • I live in a remote section of the Southern Calif. Mojave Desert where the summer temps. are routinely 110 + during July and August. My house has two through the wall A/Cs and is very comfortable--when Southern Calif Edison is able to keep the power on. I'm 83, have 3 wonderful dogs, and have lived in my house for 44 years. Each summer the power has gone off for at least a day. I have a small refrig., a separate small freezer, and the A/Cs to worry about when the power goes off. I also own a Honda gas inverter generator that is able to run the smaller AC. I'm currently buying battery powered power stations to tide some of my electrical items over while I gas up the generator and hook it up with a power cable though the wall. Being 83, I don't move as quickly as I did years ago. I think from what I've read on KZhead that battery powered stations are the answer for me to power most of my electrical needs when the power goes off. Around an hour is the time I need to get the gas inverter generator placed outside on my patio and a heavy extension cord running into the house. I have a Jackery 1000wh solar power station on the way from Amazon as I write this, and already have Jackery's 100 watt solar panel. Thanks for your excellent video blog. I intend on exploring the practical use of battery powered power stations and solar panels in my home for as long as my old brain and body keeps me alive--hopefully to outlive my wonderful dog companions.

    • You should invest in a full sized home solar system and a battery storage system like the tesla power wall. In the Mojave Desert you’re getting tons of sun.

  • I'm planning to build an external workshop For my father. I could Easily run an electric line from the house to the workshop but I'm considering a solar generator as an option.
