That Chelsea game is still the best away game I’ve ever been to.
Johnny Lyall's claret and blue army...what a man he was RIP John. Wardy, one of my all time favs. TC, Franky Mac and Wardy...all on the smaller side but what a trio they were
Thanks to Ironcast for getting my all-time favourite West Ham player on here. 😊🥰
Love mark ward. Could listen to is stories all day
I remember meeting Mark at Chadwell Heath one Sunday morning. I was having treatment with Rob Jenkins for a groin issue and the walking wounded from the previous day's home game came in for treatment. Couldn't believe how battered his feet were. He was a cracking player who regularly got fouled and kicked.
Wardy, you're an absolute legend. Love you to bits with your passion and great stories. There's something magical about Scousers. 👏👏
Great timing this as I am currently re-reading his book. Someone bought it for me years ago when it came out and I haven't read it since. It's a good read just because Mark has so many stories to tell and it's great to hear him speak, especially about West Ham.
Another great episode of Iron Cast with some amazing stories and it's great to hear about the good times in the 80s for young fans like me who don't know much about it so thank you admin, Chris and James, fantastic work! Now we MUST get Julian Dicks on so we can hear HIS side of the burning Wardy with an iron story 😂😂
I was Mark Wards Accountant when he was at West Ham, and am now retired. I used to complain that he took out the opposition, to then get sent off. He commented that, because he was smaller, they would always target him, so he got in first. I had fond memories of those days. By even more coincidence, his wife taught at the same school as my wife. Good to see you again Mark on such good spirits. You were very missed when you left West Ham.
Pity you weren't his accountant when he got jailed for being part of a drug dealing gang.
@@bigbernie7260 By then he had gone to Everton and had a new accountant. Trust me, I was totally shocked by that news, it really was hard to believe, and made little sense given their wages.
Good player wardie.
Great player for us…….fitted in so well
Thanks
I have got to say that this was a top interview and can’t believe what happened was so normal for West Ham.Dicksy and the iron was …..can you imagine if that incident happened in today’s game?.Marks story was a real eye opener and well done to all for sharing.
I remember Ward being sent off for a clattering tackle on an opposing player at Upton Park. He was obviously making up for being found too small and weak as a youngster at Everton.
1985/6..Best 9 months of my life.
Loving these videos and I'm a Saints fan. Keep em coming
John Lyall described Mark as a pocket battleship.
Lost a tooth in the South bank when ward went down in the box vs Ipswich 86
Love it coyfi whtid x
Loved wardy remember him scoring at home against Man utd. Beating them 2 - 1
He was a tough little sod😂😂😂
i nocked on marks door asking if he wanted a window cleaner a few years ago in loughton
Get Paul Ince on this podcast. You might not realise it but the bloke loves the club and regrets what happened.
That would be a brave move if they did. The old West Ham magazine from the 90's / early 00's had an interview with Ince which basically turned into a long form explanation and an apology for how he left West Ham. Afterwards in the same mag, they asked a series of fans how they felt about the interview and their responses ranged from: "it's been xx number of years, I forgive but won't forget" to "no I don't accept his apology and I'm gonna tell my children what he did". Don't underestimate a football fan's ability to hold a grudge...
@@McD5791 and yet here I am, a West Ham fan. Don't underestimate another person's compassion. The guy apologised. Good enough for me. He is still one of our own and a West Ham fan
@@Lord.Patrick- oh, I agree with you! I was but 14 yrs old in 1989 when he left and I wasn't exactly thrilled with how he departed... but that game against Manchester United when he came back? That was one of my most uncomfortable moments as a fan.
Would love to hear inces side tbh
God i love west ham
That’s the wrong tense…. It’s Burnt!!….. not burned.
Great interview, though the interviewer is a bit OTT. The phoney laugh!
Typical of Northern attitude wives,,,, I love the south and if you want to get on in sport or business then the south is the place to go... IMHO Mr Ward has learnt the south will give him a living...
