    • He was a one-off for sure. I laughed at Gary Lineker's story where it went from call me Brian to call me Mr Clough. He did this once at a press conference where a journalist addressed him as Brian and he replied "it's Mr Clough to you". The next journo addressed him as Mr Clough and he said "please, call me Brian".

  • Hi there, from Malta. Simply awesome podcast - the cheerful Micah, the more subtle Lineker and the slightly more rough Shearer - the perfect balance, the three Musketeers. Question: do you think that clubs should invest more in their academies and use their players? In other words, should for example the FA impose that each starting 11 should have at least 3 players coming from the academy. I think this would surely limit the spending and would result in a better national team eventually.

  • Alan's comment about the ref giving players stick in return reminded me of a couple of incidents from when I posted Saturday morning football in a local church league. We lined up ready to kick off for the second half of a game but the other team were still off the pitch and I jokingly said to the ref "come on, kick it off now mate" and he just turned and looked at me and said "you'd still f***ing miss!" 😆 we had another ref who worked with the wife of our team captain and whenever he reffed our games, he would try and find any excuse he could find to give our captain a yellow card, just to wind him up. It's good when refs are like that and show their human sides and can have a laugh with players.

  • You 3 together are brilliant looking forward to many more (years hopefully) videos of this format. A question that was brought up was what law would you change. And I think now with VAR a team should be allowed 2 or 3 challenges/objections in a match that they can stop play and ask the ref and var to look at something that they feel should be given or not and explain why. Surely that could all be done by the 4th official and var while play continues maybe maybe not. As this might stop some of the smaller teams feeling hard done to as it seems like every week it's the same teams/managers moaning about decisions not given. And with that law being introduced everyone would feel that all clubs would be on the same level of fairness as everyone always says that the so called top 6 always get away with stuff. Surely it would not be hard to put something like that into the game and it wouldn't really slow the game down that much.

  • Think all 3 rule changes are spot on & would make the game much better for fans & players & far less frustrating. Personally think i preffered the old offside rule too when if your offside your offside. Alot of the ‘’ inactive ‘’ offside players are still causing the defenders to have to think about them & therefore active in the play imo.

    @swannynufc@swannynufc8 ай бұрын
    • I agree, it's another example of bringing subjectivity into the decision. At which point does a player go from being active to inactive? I might be in an offside position on the opposite side of the pitch when a ball is played to you, so I'm deemed to be inactive, but if a defender moves out to cover me surely I'm active as I'm influencing the move.
